I've noticed something horrible in casual gaming. Games that use concepts that are years old catch on. There are 2 games in particular I've noticed: Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies. Yes, I'm partially responsible for participating in the PvZ craze, I own it on the DS. But, still, they're all flukes! These games are nearly identical to games from 5 or so years ago. But, yet, they're massively popular. I ask... why?

Because people have fun with them. Because they dont get old. Because of the replay-ability.

We never really had the technology to enjoy them EVERYWHERE. it was secluded to computers and sometimes consoles. but now people have them on there phones. with better technology. Its open to a much wider market now.

It's simply because its easy to play for casual gamers. Think Demon's Souls. Would they ever be able to play that? Never. It fits their audience and to be honest I don't really mind them playing those games.

I never said I had a problem with casual gamers or anything, I just wanna' know their method behind what games they play.

Check out my angry birds review. The games catch on through simple simplicity and nothing more. Its kinda pointless to figure out why they caught on but they have and that's that.

Yeah... I guess casual gaming IS kind of random, so it makes sense that the games that catch on would be random. So yeah, leave them be if they're happy.
