Old thread was old, but I have some news that might be interesting to an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan.

First, Korra's face has finally been revealed.

She looks less like Katara than I thought she would, but I like her appearance. She looks like a badass.

Secondly, an article in the Wall Street Journal released some casting info:

And lastly, a new interview with creators Bryan and Mike was also in the Wall Street Journal. Apparently, the show is now scheduled to appear in 2012 instead of later this year, but Nickelodeon has apparently ordered 14 more shows. I'm not quite sure what this means- 14 more miniseries, I guess, or maybe I read it wrong and it's 14 more episodes of Korra. Whatever, it's good news to me. There's also some other info about the show in the article, which you can find here.

Well, now I REALLY want to see this. It is just shaping to be better and better. And It has a steampunk setting!

Yes, it sounds all together awesome. Dee Bradley Baker is back for all his voice-acting goodness, the guys who did the music are back, and the story sounds interesting thus far. I'm eager to see what this anti-bending revolutionary villian is like. I don't think Bryan and Mike are gonna let us down.

If it would be adding 14 episodes to the 12 they already have, wouldn't that account for a whole season, probably more?

Unless of course they were little 5 minute episodes like the original Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoons were.

I think the first season of ATLA had something like 21 episodes, so it'd be a little more. The article said "show" though, which makes me think Nick's wanting a multitude of miniseries instead of adding and continuing Korra. And personally, I like that. We can learn a lot more about the mythology and about other avatars and stuff that way. And I think the shorter each series is, the less likely it will start to drag on and feel predictable or seem like it were just thrown together for the cash.

??? Who in the world is Korra? Now this is a first for me.

Korra is the next Avatar after Aang passes away, she's a waterbender, and I forget how many years after the Last Airbender storyline that this one takes place but its definitely in the far future

-_- So...no more air-benders? Poor Aang. Hopfully, Aand did not get killed in battle. Still, I am more curious as to how she will become the next Avatar when Aang is the last Air-bender and that she needs to learn how to air bend.

oh um i read another article from that involved like a mini interview that had said that yes aang is gone (probably from old age) but he and katara have a son named tenzin who is an airbending master and she is supposed to learn from him.

  10. Yes that would be difficult unless, Katara and Aang settled down and some airbabies!

    I KNEW IT, AIRBABY ^_^

    70 years.

The character listed on the cast list I posted above, named Tenzin, is the airbending son of Aang and Katara, and Korra's airbending master, per an interview a while back with Bryan and Mike. That interview, and more information, is linked to in the previous incarnation of this thread, in this section.

Like way last year, July or something like that, around when the live action movie came out. Where have you been?

Check out the older Legend of Korra thread found here for more details.

Not really the point of this thread, though personally the lack of Suki didn't bother me much at all.

The release date that I'd heard before was Fall 2011, but it's apparently been pushed back (or the date given before was wrong) and now it's airing in 2012. I'm guessing it'll be fall 2012, though I don't know for sure. According to the interview with Bryan and Mike I linked to in the first post, the writing of all twelve episodes is complete and they are in the process of animating them over at the Korean studios they used for the last series.

Oh, and I missed this when first reading the interview, but apparently they have cars and motorcycles and stuff now. o_O
