    The New Dusk

    ☀

The attack is coming. Deaths will occur. People will be lost. That's what they said last time but it really will happen and we have to be ready. It's happened here. Many others will fall too. Once we brought the Dawn but always as sure as the sun rises eventually it will fall again. The dusk is approaching, but this time the night may never end.
A woman stands among the barren empty world, with a severed head in her hand. Storms raged all around her as she stood on the broken down ruins of a freshly destroyed castle. Broken glass from the cornerstone of light cracked underneith her feet
"This is what happens when one stands against me" she said, as she crushed it with her hands. The darkness poured from her panther black skinned body. Next to her was the struggling body of the King."Who are you...?" the King gasped."I am a heartless of someone you once knew but you won't know who that is"
Mickey tried to shift away from the woman. "No, you're not..." he said with wide eyes.
The woman smiled with her sickly yellow teeth.
"Yes I am" she replied, as she stomped on the small mouse. "Good bye, your
majesty" she added, as the keyblade struck through the former King.
The woman chuckled to herself, as she looked at the lifeless unconscious body of Mickey.
"Finally, that son of a bitch is dead. He was too cheerful for his own good" she murmured to herself. She was interrupted by a bright light that flashed in the sky, looking like an explosion somewhere in the distance of the universe. He bright eyes narrowed in annoyance. "Not you again." she growled at the speck in the distance. "Looks like my fun here is over."
She then disappeared, as the clouds collapsed onto the dying world. The earth cracked and the heartless seeped into it. It vanished into nothingness soon afterwards.
Only moments after Disney Castle was destroyed a small lone gummi ship appeared in the scene. The passenger was a different woman, though her appearence was astonishingly similar to the heartless who had just single handedly destroyed one of the most powerfully light worlds in exsistance. Though her appearence would almost allow her to pass for a normal woman if not for her deathly pale skin and red eyes.
"Damn. I was so close this time." she cursed looking over the now empty space that was once Disney Castle through the window of her ship. But she didn't fear too much. It had been a long time since her target had devoured a world. Nearly 10 years to be exact. Disney Castle wouldn't be enough for her this time and she was running out of worlds to go in this direction. The nobody woman studied her map for possible next victims of her target and a sick smile crossed her face. "Now this should be fun..." she thought to herself, stabbing a throwing knife through the map in the only next possible world for her target to run: Destiny Island.

    "Mel!?..."
    "...Shes coming here! Kiba!!!"
    "Melody its alright wake up!"
Melody opened her eyes with a loud gasp, sitting up in her bed so fast that she almost collided heads with her best friend/boyfriend Kiba. She was breathing heavy with a sick taste in her mouth, the images from her most recent nightmare were still fresh on her mind. They sat there in silence for a moment. "Melody are you...?" Kiba asked hesitantly "Are you ok?"
Melody had tears in her eyes "Vanquish..." she muttered.
Kiba's heart sank at hearing her mutter that name again. Once years ago, Melody had been the accomplice of an evil woman named Vanquish. Back then she had gone by the name Assylum. Sometimes Kiba worried that those days did some damage to his beloved Melody's sanity because for the past few years she kept having nightmares about Vanqusih.
"Mel Vanquish is dead. Calder and Siah defeated her years and years ago. Your safe..." he started.
"I know..." Melody said with a shaking deep breath, trying to clear her thoughts. "Those dreams are so vivid. I saw her at Disney Castle... Kiba she looked so horrifying... she destroyed it with no reason at all. I cant get her face out of my head." she said with tears in her eyes.
Kiba crawled up next to her on her bed, the sunlight from the rising sun was shining through his bedroom window illuminating their faces in the dark room. "Dont be afraid. Shes gone I promise. The darkness is gone forever. We were promised that." he said, wrapping his arms around her. Melody buried her face in Kiba's chest, trying to believe what he was saying. Tryng to stop her heart from racing so loudly she could hear it louder than Kiba's voice. She couldn't help but add the last part of her horrible dream "she was coming here." she whispered.
Those words gave Kiba goosebumps. But he knew they couldn't be true. "I promise Mel. I'll keep you safe." he reassured her, stroking her hair.
For a while, the couple sat there in silence locked in their embrace as the sun slowly rose outside the window. They were finally interrupted when they heard Kiba's parents waking up downstairs. Normally, Melody lived with Siah and Calder but last night she had snuck in to be with Kiba. She fell asleep on his bed and he had taken the floor. "We should go." Kiba suggested, standing up and helping Melody too. "Come on we'll go out the window together and visit Calder and Siah." he said. But that was all he could say because as they got to the window the light from the sun suddenly dimmed. Some black force had slid in front of the sun in a complete solar eclipse. "Thats odd..." Kiba muttered. Melody's face was completely pale she looked like she was about to cry, frozen in fear.
"She's here..." she whispered, too terrified to even breate.
Kiba sighed "Its just an eclipse Mel... at a weird time but they are normal. Everythings f-"
With a slow shaking hand Melody pointed out the window "Kiba... look." she said. Frowning, Kiba looked in the direction that Melody was pointing and sure enough. There outside the window, in the beach view that they could see Kiba and Melody saw a woman standing on the shore line of Destiny Island. An unholy looking woman. Her skin and hair were black and smoke like dark energy poured from her skin. She almost looked like a hole in the universe standing in the ocean.

Kairi rushed upstairs, as she saw the sky eclipse. Something didn't feel right and she needed to check on Kiba. She rushed inside the room, surprised to see Melody with him. "What have you two been doing last night?" she asked, worried that her beloved son lost his virginity. Suddenly, she noticed something was wrong. She looked out to the window, and amongst the faint glimmer of light
she looked at a silhouette of a woman with dark strands of black slithering from her body. Kairi took Melody and Kiba by the hand and looked at Kiba in the eyes. "Take Melody to the cave and no matter what happens, make sure you both stay in there" she ordered her son. She kissed his cheek and ran out.
"Wait, mom!" he cried out but she already left the house. Melody heard her voice outside "Sora, Riku, Somethings wrong at the beach. The two kids saw them run off from their spot at the window to face the deamon together.
Kiba took Melody's hand and with a tear running down his face. Together they ran down the steps and alongside the alleyway, which faced the beach. Kiba turned towards what was happening but as Sora and Kairi summoned their keyblades, they immediately sank to their knees under the weight of the darkness surrounding them
    "NO!!! Mom! Dad!"
He tugged away from Melody's grasp and began to run at the fiend.
"Kiba stop!" Melody begged taking his hand agian. She tripped in her attempt to stop him "Kiba I've seen her before in my dreams. If you go, you'll die." she cried.
She screamed slightly when suddenly a pair of hands grabbed her from behind but as she wheeled around she saw a familiar face. It was Siah. "Melody, Kiba, what are you two doing here." she said with wide eyes. "Its not safe here."
She and Calder had come as soon as they saw the eclipse to check on Sora's family. Now that she could really see what was going on, she knew it wasn't good. She looked to her brother and saw their parents in the distance "Kiba.... you need to keep Melody safe. Do you understand?" she said urgently "Calder and I will help mom and Dad. You need to take her and go to the caves.
Keep each other safe there until we come for you. Can you do that?"
Kiba, with tears in his eyes, shook his head.
"You can't leave us. Please don't go"
    "I love you"
Siah managed to tear her eyes away from her struggling parents to look her brother in the eyes. She gave Kiba a hug, scared of what the future would bring but deturmined to be strong for him. "I promise we will come for you. I love you too Kiba. Thats why you need to get somewhere safe. It would kill me if something happened to you."
Having seen what this dark woman could do, Melody was petrified with fear. 'we're all dead' she kept thinking to herself not being able to take her eyes away from the scene.
Kiba pulled Melody away and rushed in towards the cave like mice scuttering away from a sparrowhawk. The boy sat by the rock and held Melody in his arms, as soon as he could touch her. "Mel...everything will be fine. We're talking about Siah and Calder here. Nothing bad's going to happen to us" Suddenly a gust of wind rushed down the cave, blowing Kiba off his balance and falling down to the
    ground
"Everything's going to be fine" he repeated, as he held her once more.
The cave was a stronghold that Raven, Calder, Siah, Riku, and Kiba's parents had built just after the most recent battle with the darkness. Once it was a secret place for Sora, Kairi, and Riku in their childhood. Now with a few enchantments it was a sanctuary in case of any emergency that might happen at Destiny Island. The enchantments made it deeper and undetectable to anyone who didn't know
exactly where it was. There were supplies stored there to last someone three days. Melody took a shuttering breath, hugging Kiba close. She said nothing but she was not reassured by his words. She knew from her dreams and had tried to warn them but now it was too late. How could she have just left those people to die? Tears rolled down her cheeks but she kept quiet. She didn't want Kiba to be as
afraid as she was. She couldn't do that to him.
The two stayed in that cave for what felt like days hearing noises of a great and terrible storm raging outside the wind and lightning clattering so loud that it even made the walls of the cave creak. Eventually the storm was cut into by the sounds of horrible screams. Horrified the two young friends tried to leave the cave to help their family and friends but found themselves trapped by the ench
andments their family members had placed on it. Helpless, the couple shrank back to the deepest part of the cave waiting for whatever would come next, praying that their home would be ok when they finally got back outside, but maddeningly clueless to whatever distruction was going on outside.
Suddenly a scream echoed throughout the islands. It sounded familiar to Kiba. "Who is that?" he asked. "Who is that?" he repeated, filled with fright. He was shuddering and the only warmth he could feel was from Melody's cold hands. "What is happening? Why is this happening?" "CONNORE!!!" a girl screamed. It was Pamela. It sounded nearby. Kiba ran towards the entrance but was repelled backwards
Kiba sat there, weeping. "What the hell is happening out there?"
A girl's scream followed and Kiba sat there helpless

Melody took Kiba's hand "The cave was designed to keep us safe no matter what. But it looks like it back fired. Now that we are here, they cant find their way in." she said, putting two and two together. "We cant help them, Kiba. We are trapped." she said with tears in her eyes. Now she was sure. What she had seen happen to other worlds in her dreams was now happening to Destiny Island and no one was safe, not even she and Kiba once the Vanquish deamon was done with her work "This world is going to die." she breathlessly.
Kiba, for the first time in his life, couldn't do anything to save the people he loved. "This world won't die" he told her. "It just can't." Suddenly there was silence. No more screaming, no more wind. Kiba held his breath, worried that the person attacking them could find them. "How did you find me? How the f**k did you find me!?" he heard a woman bark from outside. She sounded deranged, on edge.
Melody felt the hair on the back of her neck raise at the sound of that voice. For the first time, she was hearing the voice that haunted her nightmares for years with her own ears. Her worst nightmare was only a few yards away outside the cave that held her and her best friend captive and she could do nothing. She hugged close to Kiba, finding herself completely imobile with fear.
She heard another voice answer the first. This one was much the same as the first in sound, but so different in tone. This voice sounded cold, full of hate but also sharp and clear. "You are a messy eater and you can never go too long without leaving some distruction behind. Did you really think it would be hard to follow your mess?" it echoed through the air.
"Your bloodlust will be your death today, Dawn."
"It's your persistence which will kill you, Dusk but for now, I will not die"
The woman stared at the cave behind her, feeling a strong presence but she merely shook her head and disappeared into black smoke. "Goodbye" her voice echoed.
For a long while there was silence outside the cave. But the second woman still remained, staring at the entrance to the cave. She felt the same presence and she walked to the mouth of the cave, looking deep inside. She saw nothing because of the enchantments but Kiba and Melody could see her clearly, her red eyes pearcing through the blackness of the cave. Her pale face was the first thing Melody had seen from outside the cave in she didn't even know how long. And it wasn't pleasant. The very appearence of that woman was enough to send a shiver down the young girl's spine.
Kiba, with Melody in hand, crept to a rock and hid behind it, unsure whether or not the woman could see them. He was frightened and his heart was leaping out of his skin every minute of this terrible day. Everything made him jump. Kiba needed comfort and reached for Mel's cheek.
He then hugged her, not knowing what will happen to them now.
He held her close. He was the only person he had left. The only precious thing he had. The only factor of his life worth living for.
Melody kept close to Kiba as well but she couldnt peal her eyes away from the horrifying woman at the mouth of the cave. She was trembling in Kiba's embrace.
The nobody woman backed away from the cave with an amused smile on her face "Looks like Dawn left behind a few of her prey this time... how sloppy. But it appears I cant do anything about whoever you are in there. But dont worry, if you dont die on this world I'm sure we will see each other again someday." she said with an eerie giggle that echoed through the cave.
Melody cringed and burried her face away between herself and Kiba, trying to open her eyes and wake up from this nightmare but she couldn't this time... This nightmare was a reality.
Dusk disappeared then, once again on Dawns trail. She had managed to injure her heartless counterpart this time, the wound would show her down but not by a lot. She needed to get on the move or she would lose her target again. Melody and Kiba stoo there in the stillness for what seemed like another hour but they heard nothing outside, not even a breath of wind.
Kiba looked out to the cave entrance and saw the veil shatter like glass and turn into dust as it touched the ground. The boy immediately shuddered, as he summoned the keyblade. He held Mel with his left hand, feeling her cold body shake as much as he was. "We have---to get out of---here or they will kill us..."
Melody nodded, trying to still her shaking hands but knowing Kiba was right. They had to move. She took Kiba's hand in hers and together the two of them exited he cave. But what they saw outside was more horrible that Melody could ever have imagined. The morning sun appeared red against the ash filled blackened sky. The sand was black and the water deep red like the sun. Everywhere she looked she saw rubble or blood or some other things that traumatised her. In attempt at not looking at any of it she kept her eyes on Kiba. But this was his home more than it was hers... she was afraid of the look she might see on his face. Kiba broke down to his knees as he looked at his home. He sobbed on the ground but as he reached his hands out in the blackened sand, he felt a hand submerged within it. Kiba shot himself backwards and screamed for 10 seconds. Tears were running down his face, as he uncovered the body from the sand. It was Connore, his best friend. "No...please no....Connore...." He stared at his closed eyes and the pale white skin. He was so lifeless. Melody's vision blurred with tears at seeing the familiar face and the pain in Kiba's eyes. She remained silent for a long while but then took Kiba's hand "We have to move, Kiba." she said, her voice hoarse from dehydration and sorrow and fear. "We will die if we dont"
Kiba's heart jumped as he looked up towards the blood red ocean. Something in the distance was zooming towards them, at a high speed. "Oh my god!" he exclaimed, readying his keyblade. "Get behind me" he told her.
"Melody, if we don't make it out of this....I just want to say, I'm glad I met you in that prison. I'm glad I saved you from the darkness. I'm glad you're here with me. I love you, Mel" he told her, trying to usher out his emotions, with his voice shivering.
Melody nodded with a quivering lip, "I love you too." she said before kissing Kiba. That was all she could do before the figure in the distance came into view. Melody recognised the white pair of wings and dark blonde almost brown hair and bright blue eyes as the newcommer landed on her feet just on the shore. "Raven!?"
Raven was saddened at the sight of Destiny Island. It was just as she had suspected when she saw the world at a distance, it was completely destroyed. But as she neared it, she saw the children on the shore and was astonished. As soon as her feet touched the ground she rushed to Kiba and Melody "Kiba, Melody what happened here? Are you two the only survivors?" she asked, looking them over
    "Are either of you injured?"
Tears fell from Kiba's eyes, blinding his sight and making his eyes as red as the ocean. "A woman attacked us.....Vanquish.....Melody kept saying. Always.....that name......"
Kiba held Mel's hand loosely, not able to get a grip. He was shaking and he did not eat for days. He didn't even think about it with everything wrapped around his mind.
Raven could only imagine what those two children had been through. What they must have seen and heard. She took the last step she needed to close the space between herself and Kiba and Melody and hugged both of them unsure what to say to either of them. Then she pulled away "We need to get out of here. This world isn't safe anymore..." she stepped back a few stepps and opened a corridor of light
to Disney Castle "We should seek help from the king. And you two should be safe with the cornerstone there anyway..." she started saying but as the portal opened, it immediately turned black and began to spin at the sides beyond control, it became a black hole. Melody screamed, astonished, Raven closed the corridor. "What happened to Disney Castle!?" she said.
"It's gone too. Vanquish destroyed it."
Raven couldnt believe what she was hearing "How do you know that, Melody?"
she looked between Melody and Kiba suspiously "What do you two know that I dont?"
Melody gripped Kiba's hand tightly and explained to Raven what she had told no one but Kiba for years "I keep dreaming about Vanquish. I had nighmares about her comming back for revenge, destroying worlds. I didn't know they were real. Then she came here."
Raven gave it some thought, "If dark forces were at play here, I should have sensed them. Or Voltair should have..." she sighed and hesitantly opened a new corridor of light "Either way we should leave here. I'm taking you two to my home. We can get you both something to eat. You'll be safe there. I'll try to contact Voltair or we will find out some other way to figure out what we are up against."
Kiba nodded but couldn't speak. He was dizzy and he could feel himself passing out. He swayed from left to right. His vision blurred and lines formulated, flashing in his eyeballs and the images of Connore's dead body wanted him to scream in panic as the three of them walked through the dark corridor together. He was barely concious as Raven lead him and Melody upstairs in her home and allowed Kiba to fall asleep in her guest room and Melody to do the same in her own. Vaugly he remembered hearing Raven say "I promise you two both here and now, we will find a way to undo what happened to Destiny Island or at least stop the monster that did it..." that was the last thing he remembered before falling into a deep but troubled sleep.

For 10 years something wicked has been lurking just below the radar. A villainous woman named Vanquish once threatened Sora's daughter, Siah, when the girl was only 15 years old. Though the group managed to defeat the girl she lost her heart. But what no one knew was that she was only separated into a heartless and a Nobody: One named Dawn. The heartless made up of nothing but Vanquish's body, heart, hate, and wrath. Dawn is a humanoid heartless that survives on the hearts of worlds. Without them, she would die and so would her heart. Dusk is a nobody made up of only Vanquish's mind, body, and cunning. While Dawn still lives, Dusk can never be whole again. For that reason, Dusk tried to destroy Dawn but Dawn was much stronger than Dusk and also much faster and could easily elude her. When Voltair and Raven sealed the darkness away in the dark realm, it greatly weakened Dawn for some time giving Dusk the advantage she needed to injure the heartless but not destroy her. Since then, Dawn has been constantly on the run from Dusk getting stronger by the day but her hunger grew more and more as well until she finally could not starve herself out of fear of Dusk any longer and she destroyed Disney Castle and devoured it's heart. With the strength she gained from that world she took Destiny Island as well and you know the story from there.
Somehow, Dawn and Dusk must both be stopped and Kiba may be the only keyblade master in exsistance left. The hardest battle Sora's family has ever had to face now lies in the hands of two children.

Kiba sat down by a stream which intersected two streets with tear drops falling into the water. The skies were overcast and it was edging close to nightfall. The buildings were golden brown but as the night sky crept, everything was becoming dark. Nothing glittered, nothing sparkled, nothing seemed good. In frustration, the 16 year old tossed a rock hard into the water, making the water splash up to his face. He was by himself and now he wasn't around Melody, he could show his emotions. He didn't want her upset. Raven and Melody were inside, cooking dinner. He glanced at the rippled water and glared into his reddened eyes.
"What can I do? How can I bring everyone back!? HOW!? Answer me!!!" he shouted. A child walked by scared with his mother; a little boy with short brown hair and blue eyes. As the boy cradled his head into his mother's, he pictured himself with Siah and his mother when he was scared. "Si..." he whimpered before crying once more. "Mom..."
He looked back at the stream and let the tears drop onto the water. In his mind, he imagined his best friend's dead pale face within the sand.
"No...no...no...." he repeated with his hand in front of his face. He couldn't believe it. He just couldn't believe the darkness could kill everyone he knew and loved in his life. All he had left was Melody but his family have been wiped away from existence. His world had ceased to exist. Now he was the last one who could stop this madness. He anxiously rubbed his hands over his face, not knowing what to do. He was afraid and for the first time, he had to fend for himself.

But leagues away, on an artificially illuminated world, a family of two was running their toy-shop. A woman of twenty-five and her adopted son resided in the loft above, the former currently running the register and sewing together a raggedy teddy-bear while the latter was stocking the shelves.

"Rai, could you get the red thread?" The woman asked, pulling out another needle. This teddy bear she was fixing up was her own, something that stuck by her side since she was a little girl.

"Right, Mom." Her boy replied, heading towards the back and retrieving the thread, then tossing it to her once he got back into the room. Rai turned his attention back to his duties, pulling more stuffed animals from a box and putting them on the shelf.

    Just another uneventful day.

Melody sighed, checking the creation she had placed in the oven. She was surprised at how good of a cook Raven really was. She never did seem like much of the house-keeping type to Melody. She always seemed more like the gun slinging cold hearted killer doesn't have time to cook or clean type. But then, she didn't know much at all about the young woman or her life. She and Kiba had been living at Raven's house for three days and though she loved Raven, she was still traumatized from what she had witnessed at home. She just couldnt seem to get those images out of her head... especially having known that it was going to happen. She was so angry with herself. Closing the oven, she sat down at the table and rested her head in her arms, trying to get control of her emotions.

Raven was at the sink, washing off some apples. Life for her really did slow down ever since the Dark Order was defeated. She had picked up a few new talents that she learned she was really good at like cooking and painting. Since her normal life started, she did as much for the community of her home world as she could from donating her time at orphanages and schools to building homes for and feeding the homeless. She even tried her hand at law enforcement for some time. She just hated doing nothing. Since the kids started staying at her house, she spent more time at her house than she ever had before since she moved back home. Taking care of them and trying to help them became her top priority. She heard Melody sigh and she shook her head "Dont be discouraged Mel. I know we didnt find any leads today but theres this old church across town. The preist there has been a good friend of mine since I moved here. I dont know how but he seems to know things that most people dont and he is very intuitive (haha SoN moment). He may have heard something or at least be able to help me figure out a way to contact Voltair who should have some idea of whats going on... being the only person I know of who has any connection to the Dark Relm right now..." her voice trailed off as she looked behind her and saw Melody. "Hey... are you alright?" she asked as she turned off the sink and sat down next to the child at the table.

Melody nodded, wiping a tear from her eye. "I'm sorry." she said "I'm alright."

Raven sighed and touched Melody's hand "Look... I know what you were going through is hard." she said empathetically "I was in your shoes once... did you know that hundreds of years ago, this world was destroyed?"

Melody nodded "Yes... you and Voltair brought it back and we had our last fight there." she said "Kiba's family did anyway."

Raven nodded "Do you know how we did it?"

    Melody staired at her blankly.

"Me and a boy named Voltair were children at the time. Part of the same group of friends. When it was destroyed, somehow he and I were the only two survivors..." she started.

Melody's eyes widened "Like me and Kiba?"

Raven nodded "Yes. Like you and Kiba. But this city... it never truly died even though it ceased to exsist for hundreds of years."

    Melody looked confused "Why?"

"Because of our memories, and our love for our home and our friends lingering in our hearts." Raven smiled "Because of that, it lived on and one day we were able to bring it back." Raven answered. "I know, Destiny Islands story is a little different than the City of Dawn in some ways but the concept is still the same. Your home and your friends may be lost to you now... but they are always right here." she rested her hand over her heart "And as long as they are there, there is always hope that you will see them again someday."

Melody looked close to tears "You think so?"

Raven nodded "Yes I do. Now go find Kiba and tell him to come in for the night. This city is safe but its still unwise to be alone in the streets at night. He could get lost." she said, standing up and getting back to work.

Melody stood up as well and, to Raven's surprise, hugged her. "Thank you Raven... for everything." she said before darting out the door. Raven stared after the girl as she walked out then shook her head "I just wish I knew wether it was facts of false hope I gave you..." she muttered sadly to no one.

Menwhile Melody walked through the streets with a lot on her mind before she found Kiba a few blocks away from Raven's home. She sat down next to him "Hey." she said to him, wondering what was on his mind.

"You forgot to mention that we basically willed this world into existence." A voice spoke out to Raven. In front of her, something slowly faded into view. As it got clearer, Raven could see that it was Voltair standing in front of her. It was a full body illusion, something that Voltair shouldn't be able to do due to the seal. As he came into focus, he was clutching his right arm. Blood was dripping down it. "Hey babe." He smiled. "So do I have some fun things to tell you or what? Although unfortunately I don't exactly have the time to explain everything, since the seal's current strength is still enough to keep any visits like this to a bare minimum."

    -----

"Hey, we got some new arrivals coming in today." An individual spoke to another at an outdoor cafe in the first district of Traverse Town.

"Really? That ain't right. Stuff like this shouldn't be happening. What is with the sudden influx of visitors?"

    "Beats me."

A lone man was leaning against a wooden column, listening to their conversation. He had a tattoo over his right eye. "Damn... This shouldn't be happening. If he hadn't resisted, this wouldn't be happening. Maybe I should head back home for now, think about what to do next."

Kiba jumped when Melody spoke and almost fell into the water. He didn't even notice her coming. He placed his hands on the ground, to stop him from falling and tried to smile. "I'm fine" he lied, trying to sound positive but not sounding completely accurate to how he wanted her to see him. He tapped his nails on the hard, granite floor; it was a habit he grew accustomed to over the past few days. It felt strange to not feel sand beneath his fingers anymore.

Melody looked out to the water, knowing why she picked here to think. It was the nearest place to Raven's home that looked the most like home. The little body of water, little too big to be a stream and too small to be a river, ran through the whole city getting bigger at some points than in others. Raven commented that there was a colony somewhere on that world far from where she lived where the buildings were actually built over the water and people used boats to travel from building to building rather than streets. But this one little place was peaceful... less busy than most of the city. Raven had moved into this part of town for a reason. It was the neighborhood that she moved to when she was a child. It was still a part of the main city but was in the outskirts to the far north just before the stream hit the ocean that lead to the water colony. In this particular spot, it felt the most like Destiny Island to Melody... she knew it was the same reason that Kiba sat here. She looked sadly into Kiba's eyes before sighing. She lay down on the ground, resting her head on Kiba's lap, looking up at his face. "... You know... Raven told me this world was destroyed once too. She said that it was destroyed around her and Voltair and for years later, they were separated. Didn't even know that they had the other... they were alone." she sighed "I cant imagine what that must have felt like... to have your world destroyed around you and to feel like you were the only soul alive from the disaster." a tear rolled down her cheek. "Kiba... I'm so terrified. But I'm glad I at least have you. I couldn't do this alone." she said in a strained voice. "Because if you're alive with me now... I know that the others are still in our hearts and we can keep hope alive in each other that one day we will see them all again... right?"

Raven was surprised for a number of reasons and wasn't even sure where to begin. It always seemed like Voltair had a knack for showing up at the most unexpected time and making her feel foolish when she had no idea how to react. For example seeing him for the first time since their home was destroyed in Destiny Island, or their first meeting again at the Tower of Twilight. He always left her stuttering. Seeing his face again now after ten years, in her house, and bleeding no less, was probably the worst and best of those surprises because she was of course happier than she had ever been to see him and know for sure that he was ok for the most part (the recent flux of darkness had worried her some because he was the one in charge of keeping it in order)... but also instantly worried. Wondering how he got hurt, what had happened to the seal, and what was happening. She recovered more quickly than normal... actually faster than any normal person to even notice her falter but then Voltair wasn't exactly normal. "Oh hey, Love." she finally said, after deciding that he was really there and this wasn't just him entering her mind or an astral projection or any of the other number of methods he had used to contact her in the past. "You know, its grand to see you all that but would it kill you to stay in one piece?" she teased though she was dead serious. Last time she saw him, it wasn't even possible for him to be injured so seeing him bleeding was not a good sign. She pulled up a chair for him and was talking as she used telekinesis to pull of first aid box out from where she usually kept it stored under the table. "If we don't have a lot of time you better start with whats most important." she said, trying to focus instead of her other two instincts that were also pulling at her which were first to behave the way any young woman in love would react seeing him for the first time in ten years or to ask a huge number of questions that were not relevant to the purpose he was here in the first place. She knelt down next to him and gently pushed his hand away from the injury on his arm. "You can't blame me for trying..." she said as she started working on the wound she was pretty sure he wasn't even supposed to have "Start by telling me what happened to you and then why you're here. If we have time after that I have a few questions." she said, keeping a very calm and level headed tone though part of her wasn't feeling like that at all.

(I was in a novel writing mood just now.... can you tell xD)

"Well to put it simply, I'm here because I figured you kinda needed me." Voltair smiled. "And that disaster that occurred at Destiny Islands is kinda my fault. When I absorbed all the darkness, I guess I missed a heartless and a nobody. Of course that alone isn't enough of a reason for all the destruction that has been going on lately. To put it simply, somebody is trying to destroy the seal and bring darkness back here to the realm of light. My arm is bleeding because of this. This person tried destroying the seal, I resisted, yadda yadda. Any damage done to the seal manifests itself onto me. The damage to the seal gave that heartless and nobody some of their old strength, so now that heartless is going about destroying worlds."

At the first comment, Raven did smile a little. "I always need you." she commented, brushing her hair on her left side behind her ear to get it out of face. "This might hurt a little." she warned before tightening a bandage around his arm and securing it to stop the bleeding. There really wasn't a way to do that without hurting someone even if they werent injured as badly but she tried to be as gentle about it as she could. "Its both of our fault if I didnt sense it when restoring light. That was supposed to kill anything that you didnt manage to lock away. Dont blame yourself for something universal." she sighed "As for this being trying to break the seal..." she was saying as she finished dealing with the injury but kept kneeling on the ground next to him, resting her arms crossed one over the other on the armrest of the chair that she had pulled up for him. "...Any ideas who it might be?"

Kiba struggled to believe in what she was saying.
"I don't know..." he said, picturing Connore's pale face in his mind. He viewed his closed eyes.
"Connore's dead" he told her. "How can everything be just in our hearts? He's gone and there's nothing I can do about it!" he shouted, leaning forwards to pull himself together Therefore, Melody's head wasn't on his lap anymore. If anything he was angry and really wanted to be alone. He got up to his feet and brushed off his pants from the dust. He laid out his hand towards Melody, frowning, not knowing what to say.
"I'm sorry..." he said, wishing he wasn't so grouchy. Damn, I should have comforted her. Not scare her to death with the idea of not seeing her family and friends again, he thought.

At the outdoor cafe in Traverse Town, Kaia made her way to a table, her long hair swaying gently in the evening breeze. Just a few minutes prior, the woman closed up shop for the night and gave her son the rest of the evening off. Which wasn't saying much, considering that Traverse Town is perpetually surrounded by night. She placed her usual order, a coffee with extra creamer on the side, grinning to herself as she thought aloud.

"Letsee. . . Tonight is Thursday. . . so it'll be bar night!" She cheered to herself, licking her lips in anticipation.

Rai, on the contrary, was in another one of his 'moods' and sulked in his room.

Melody stared at him blankly feeling a little bit hurt and surprised. Eventually she took his hand and stood up. "It's alright." she said "Maybe you are right..." she sighed "But I wont give up hope... if I need it for both of us." she said sounding drained. "Anyway Raven sent me out to get you. She said this city can be scary at night sometimes and she wants us inside before then..." she looked at the status of the sun "But if you want... we can go exploring the city for a while." she said, trying to smile a little "Try to get our mind off things?" she suggested. "Raven says that the city is really pretty at this time."

"This person just might be familiar. He has the same spirit about him as this one kid I remember talking to years ago. Which means that if they are the same individual, then it is my fault he would be trying to break the seal. Unfortunately though, I was unable to get a good look at this person as they tried breaking the seal. But I do remember something specific." Voltair put his left hand up to his right eye. "A person with a tattoo over their right eye. This person isn't exactly a friend. But he isn't a friend to that heartless or that nobody either."

Kiba placed his hands in his pockets, acting distant.
"I don't think I can get Connore out of my head" he murmured with a tear spurting from his eye. "I just can't get him out of my mind"
The boy turned towards Melody's face and looked at her sorrowful face. He felt regret for making her so sad but she still looked beautiful to him even though her make up was a little smudged. Her deep blue eyes made him smile. Kiba touched her cheek, staring at her for a little while. "Connore would want us to fight back and we will. I won't let them down but-"
Kiba held her and placed his head on her shoulder.
"-you got to promise me I won't lose you"
He let go of her with his right hand, whilst still holding her waist with his left. With the right, he reached up to her long brunette hair and stroked it.

Raven was glad to be getting information. At least it was a start, but the more she was hearing the more questions she had. This was frustrating to her. "Cant say I missed this part of an 'exciting' life." she said, standing up and crossing her arms. "I guess this means my next step is to track down our Tattoo Faced friend and see what information I can get from him." she concluded leaning her back against the wall next to the window. "Do you have any idea where he might have gone after nearly butchering your arm off?" she said almost too casually for the statement, trying to keep an edge out of her voice.

Melody had tears in her eyes but her voice remained strong "I'm not going anywhere Kiba. We will figure this out together. I promise." she said hugging him close. After a moment she pulled away. "I know our situation is scary but why not take the long way back to Raven's?" she said attempting a smile. She took his hand and lead him back into town toward Raven's house but they took a different street. It would still lead them back but through the city instead of skirting around the boarder of the city. "A little fun adventure might do us good." she pointed out.

"Unfortunately no." Voltair answered. "I would've loved to see, but my mind was a bit more focused on the pain in my arm and keeping the seal intact. But if he is the same kid that I met years ago, then he lives somewhere on this world." Voltair's body started to slowly fade away. "Damn. Looks like my time's up. I don't know how long it'll be before I can attempt this again." He sighed and put his hand to his forehead. "I really gotta stop wasting what little time we have together by talking the whole time." Voltair embraced Raven and kissed her.

The individual leaning on the wooden column in Traverse Town pushed himself off of the column. "Looks like I better get going. No point in staying in this world." He walked over to the open window of the cafe where people ordered. "I'll take something to go. I don't really care what it is. I just need something to drink."

The server just handed a cup of coffee out to the individual, not even looking at the man she handed it to. Half a moment later, Kaia was at the counter, tugging on the man's sleeve. Nervously, she began,

"Er. . . I don't wanna be rude, but I think that's my coffee. I ordered mine before you," She meekly prosecuted, rubbing the back of her neck with a free hand while awkwardly shifting her weight from foot to foot. "I heard your order. You wanted it to go, and this is a glass cup."

Raven was sad to see that Voltair couldn't stay much longer but his coment made her wonder 'What else would we do?' Her question, along with any smart alek remark that she could have come up with at the time, was answered and forgotten when he kissed her. 'Oh... thats what.' she blushed. She put her arms around him, and for a moment nothing else mattered.
"Thank you for your help. I'll get to the bottom of this." remembering that this was the last time in who knows how long she added something that, though they both knew, they never voiced in the 15 years they were together "I love you."

A 14 year old watched the discussion from the other table with a cup of tea. He sipped it and then breathed out, feeling a rush of hot air cover his face. It felt refreshing and his energy sky rocketed. A waitress came up to him and directly stared at the boy with her ocean blue eyes. She looked about 16 and her hair was bright blonde. Her face was almost touching his. He backed off, even though she was pretty cute. He never really liked anyone that close to him, even if it was a girl.
    "No, I'm fine thanks"
The girl stood there, immobilized while the boy looked down at his empty cup of tea, trying to avoid staring at her.
"I saw you play with magic earlier. I thought it was cool!" she said randomly. The boy nodded.
"Well, uh...thanks..." he replied, hoping she'd just turn and walk away before he embarrassed himself.
The girl sat herself down on to the other end of the table.
"You don't talk much do you?" she asked, with a loud voice so everyone can hear.
"Uh haven't you got a customer moaning there?" he asked, trying to get her to go away. He always found this uncomfortable to talk to others.
The waitress looked over at the girl and shrugged, not really caring.
"It doesn't matter. Do you want to hang out some time? Like...on a date?" she asked with a smile.
The boy's cheeks burned red, as he heard that question. He remained silent. The waitress tapped her fingers on the wooden table, making an annoying beat. The woman's moaning from the other side of the cafe was shrieking in his ears. The sips of coffee around him suddenly became annoying to him. Then the frustratingly repetitive cafe music, which was an awfully done instrumental version of a well known song, echoed in his mind. He couldn't think straight.
    "I...I don't know..." he murmured.
The waitress giggled a little, flirting him up. "My name's Grace. See me around the cafe sometime" she said, before walking away. "And don't worry. The tea is on the house" she added. Grace turned around and blew him a kiss, which was seen in the corner of the boy's eyes. "My treat!" she exclaimed, embarrassing him in front of everyone in the cafe. Adam began to ran towards the World Door.

Suddenly someone else sat down on the table.
"There you are, Adam! You're late for pract-"
"I'm leaving to explore the worlds. There's something not quite right about these dreams and the amount of people flooding into the town for fleeing. They must be connected somehow and I'm a part of it. I know it. I'm sorry Master Sorai"
Sorai placed his old wrinkly hands on Adam's.
"Go. It will do you good. I know you've been wanting adventure for a long time"
He buried his hands into his pockets and reached out a key.
"This will open the gummi ship I left in my garage. It still works. I've been doing a few repairs and enhancements"
    Adam immediately hugged his master.
    "Thanks....dad"
The master smiled. "Now go!" he shouted in enthusiasm, pushing the boy out of his clutches.

    Kiba nodded.
    "Right..."
As they were walking by the water, he did not say anything and simply looked ahead of him. All he could imagine within his mind were the people he lost: Siah, Calder, Mom, Dad, Connore, Pamela. They were all dead... Another tear fell from his eye and dripped down his neck.
"I want to see them again..." he murmured.

Voltair had to stop himself from saying what was basically an automatic reaction. If he spoke the first thing on his mind, he'd say something like I know, trying to sound cool. Instead he decided on saying something that he figured was more important, especially considering that they may not see each other again for hundreds of years. "I love you too. More than anything else in the world." As the words left his lips, Voltair finally faded away, leaving Raven alone again.

"Hmm?" Duelo hummed in the back of his throat, looking at the stranger. "My apologies miss." He handed her the glass. He looked around his body, grabbing a small bag that hung from his waist. "Let me pay for that then, to make up for accidentally taking your drink." At the same time, Duelo overheard a conversation going on nearby. It was about somebody going to travel to other worlds. "This kid doesn't realize what a bad idea that is right now, does he? He's gonna get mixed up in all of this and get hurt. That isn't a good thing."

Raven smiled a little I dont care how long it takes. Some day I am going to find a way to bring you back here... where you REALLY belong... she half just thought but she said it very quietly too. Not sure if she was saying that to him or herself. Either way he didnt hear her anyway. The moment he was gone she heard the front door open. "Hey Raven!" she heard Melody call from the front room. "We're back!"

"Oh good." she said sounding a little sarcastic, as usual. She resumed her place before Voltair's embrace leaning against the wall with her arms crossed. Not really caring to do much else.

Melody still had Kiba's hand as she walked into the kitchen "Sorry it took so long we came the long way." she was explaining. She paused... someting seemed different. Raven's house always had the strongest light presence that Melody had ever come in contact with. It was almost temple like with its spirit that way. Now, there was something else, though the feeling was faiding quickly. "What did I miss?" she said, also noticing the look on Raven's face.

Raven shrugged "Oh well a friend dropped by and gave me a tip about this world destroying heartless buisness." she said "But I'll fill you two on the details tomorrow morning. For now, you two should eat and then get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a big day." she advised.
