    Ventus Kickass Keyblader!

Disney have finally got their act together and are not releasing a Pixar film this Christmas. With the anime, Ponyo, coming out this month and the newly released trailer of the Princess and the Frog, I am happy to say that Disney are now releasing true animation films to the big screen again. I am anticipating these two films because they are not CGI and rely on true artists to create these wonderful stories. I am also a fan of Hayao Miyazaki's work, who was the director of amazing anime fims such as Laputa (1986), Spirited Away (2001) and Howl's Moving Castle (2004). I love these films because they have a wonderful story and the artwork is diverse and beautiful. Disney needs these creative juices from this genious.

The Princess and the Frog is a traditional Disney film which celebrates 75 years of Disney "magic". This is what I've been waiting for and I hope Disney stays with this.

Here are trailers of the two films, Ponyo and the Princess and the Frog.

^^ Aaaaw. That's nice! ^^ I remember when I was real little, that they put Mulan on the big screen. Nice to see that they're putting back true animation films on the screen again. ^_^

Im sorry but i think Ponyo is one of the dumbest movies that Disney has ever decided to do.
Furthermore, The Princess and the Frog is not "classic" because its truly modern. the creators of Disney can try and say that they are going back to the style of the originals like Lion King and Snow White, but just because they say it, does not mean its true. Honestly back when the real classics were made, there would have never been a black princess or a mexican prince because Walt Disney was extremely racist and a borderline nazi, he would not have allowed that. (Im not racist) im just saying its not classic, and it will never be as good as the real classics.

I think Ponyo looks cute, and I'm glad Disney decided to distribute it. Hayao Miyazaki does wonderful art.

I'm excited to see it, but not because I think it will be great. I'm halfway feeling like SheShe, but I still have hope it will be like a Disney classic. So I'm intrested to see how it will turn out.

Oh stop being so god damn critical.

Given the fact that animation has evolved beyond that fixed mind set of beauty and creation, artistic technique, and overall storyline, the fact that Disney is actually making a movie set back in one of the most controversial geographical and historical racial borderlines is beyond me.

It began with a portrayal of lived in, freshly freed, yet horribly racially stereotyped blacks back in the South with a movie that escapes me, but I'm sure you can find it on wikipedia. But scratching the race-talk here, I'm just fascinated that Disney's actually giving us another princess that our younger generation can look up to instead of just reverting back 60+ years to find one.

I have a love for the classics as well, including a good bulk of the world, so to speak. But you can't just easily dismiss the fact that Disney is actually 'trying' to scratch its former borderline Nazi glory for a movie that's taking a tale about an originally blonde female, and making her African American and a Latin Prince to appeal to new audiences. If that isn't a strive for decent modernization, then hardly anything else is.

Also might I add that the general appeal of the classics was sugar coated with a pre/post war, economic, and social mindset of relationships and gender roles. It's only still appealing because of 1) It's Beauty, 2) Its simplicity rather than prickling complexity, and 3) the fact that those blatant mixed messages are much more subtle beyond pretty sing a longs, and faces/anatomies reminiscent of those particular eras.

All in all, I honestly think that The Princess and the Frog is going to be a fantastic film, and is going to give a lot of us a combination of 'classics' nostalgia, and a sense of pride that Disney has given us a movie about a new princess that we can be proud of.

Then as for Ponyo, oh come on.
Have you seen any of Miyazaki's, or any other cutsie abstract films from Asia based on simple little, yet engaging story lines like that? It may seem stupid, but something tells me that it's going to be one of those films that get sold out at Blockbuster in 30 years when a restored version of it comes out, fresh for the public.

I thought it was absolutely adorable and puts another visionary's spin on classic themes of friendship, with a creative and artistic take on every day elements.

Watch the both of them once they're released.
If you still have the same take on them, then I congratulate you on being able to predict the future.

If not, then oh ho ho ho ho.

dissagree with this comment as Xmas was Toy Story... IMo pixar should be a yealy tradition for disney and tehy really started letting themselves go once they started doing live action movies. Disney hasn't been disney since 98ish imo.

Well, yeah, the classic Disney movies are about princesses. Quite frankly if they came out with a new Cinderella movie, I would throw up. I am tired of Cinderella. I want Disney to make something more out of a Princess tale. And most of Disney's movie are the same. A woman in distress waiting to be rescue my a hunk. What happen to independent strong women?

But saying that, I can't wait for Alice In Wonderland.

I think Autopsy is talking about Song of the South with Uncle Remus and Br'er Rabbit.

Tim Burtons Alice in wonderland? im looking forward to that aswelll, although im not certain i'd enjoy the whole twisted veiw on one of my childhood favourites.

Im looking forward to Ponyo, and im not sure about the princess and the frog, mainly because it reminds me of the Swan Princess which i hated>.<

And i really like the Pixar movies. Accept meet the robinsons

    Yes, baby boo.
    "Accept" Meet The Robinsons..lmao

    But yea.
Song of the South was basically the film I was trying to reference to. And the only racially broken out films are Aladdin and Mulan right now. Atlantis doesn't count, even though main female was as sexy as all hell.

Also agree with Pulsey about Disney not being legit since 98'. I mean, remember when they'd just start popping out awesome films at least twice a year during the 90's? Then about a half or year later, they'd magically be on VHS. Video tapes were golden back then.

Kupo, I actually LOVED the Swan Princess. At least the first, not the sequel, lmao. I do get the whole vibe of similarity from it though. But our Princess Tiana honestly looks like she's got quite a bit of bite in her. So I wouldn't close her out of decent possibilities just yet.

    Speaking of flicks.
    Rapunzel anyone? Haha.

And don't even get me STARTED on Alice and Wonderland via Tim Burton.
Helena's playing the Queen of Hearts for god's sake. This is going to be the biggest box office hit ever. Screw TDK, screw Fight Club, screw Harry Potter and Twilight in terms of dough.

    EVERYONE loves Alice and Wonderland.
then Timmy's making it? PFFFFFFFFFT. 8th world wonder coming up, thank you.

I still have Herculese on VHS, best movie ever for an 8 year old. :D

Im not sure on Alice in Wonderland, for me Burton had a one hit wonder with Nightmare Before Xmas and has failed to live up to it since. I'm hoping for success yet I feel it may not do so well with the gothic style aimed at an older audience.

I PLUCKING love Alice in Wonderland. She is the only Disney Character that told me, "Eating shrooms is okay." I love the bitch. She is high and she is going on a trip real bad.

I can't stand Pocahontas, look at those man shoulders.

    What's wrong with you, sir?

The bitch was hallucinating. "Colors of the wind?" For real girl? Smoking to much of that Indian weed? Haha. Well, I have to admit that she is the only Disney Princess that can take care of her on.

DX What?! They teach you bad stuff in Disney?! No more Disney shows & movies for you Yukou!!! -_- They could've hid it like when they hid the word "sex" in The Lion King.
