One of the famous scat singers alongside Louis Armstrong. Passionate for his work regardless that he has a speech impediment and a problem of stuttering, John Paul Larkin took that and made it as an opportunity to sing. Having two number ones in almost every country, he became "Best New Artist" in Japan and Germany and a recipient winner of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Annie Glenn Award for outstanding service to the stuttering community and National Stuttering Association Hall of Fame.

Talented with his singing and piano skills blessed by God, he became acquainted at the age of 14 with Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. in scat singing. John was able to come out with his first song, "Scatman" to give encouragement to kids who also suffer from stuttering and speech impediment. Scatman John also was able to overcome drinking and smoking, something that his fellow friend, Joe Farrell, was unable to do and died from. His song, Scatman, also became a big hit in Europe and by releasing "Scatman's World", the copy hit the top ten spot in the UK region.

His music became so famous that he became an inspiration in the Japanese and Germany culture. However, during his travels, he has finally released another album " Take Your Time" as he told everyone that he has been battling health problems and lung cancer. “Whatever God wants is fine by me… I’ve had the very best life. I have tasted beauty." He passed away in Los Angeles in December of 1999.

Famous songs that anyone can listen to would be: "Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)", Everybody Jam!, Scatman's World, Everything Changes, Time, Take Your Time and much more.

He was a one hit wonder in my eyes, and in reality, he was. He may have been a talented musician but no one remembers him from any other of his works than I'm a Scatman, so his work didn't never really touch my world too much other than listening to that one song as a child.

I didn't even know that he had done music in the jazz department.
