Prolouge: A Hollow voice



"Darkness... Everything began in darkness and everything shall end in darkness." That is what

Master Xehanort said to me before we left off to our final battle with that idiot and his friends.

Darkness. That's all there ever is for me. No light. No in-between. Just darkness and nothing

more. Such is the sad fate for a boy that should not even exist. Yet I am here, floating in this sea

of darkness that is within Ventus' heart. Someday hopefully, I shall return and wreak havoc on

those who imprisoned me in here. Aqua, Ventus, and that foolish king Mickey. I shall return soon and

I shall recreate the X-blade and I will even combine with the light within Kingdom Hearts so that I

can create my own version of the universe: a universe full of Unverses that serve me. A universe

that serves a hollow god. I'll even be more powerful than Master Xehanort, the man who created me.

But now I must sleep, so that I can rest and regain my power. I also want

to fade in my memories. Memories of my past as Vanitas, the masked boy.

Chapter 1: Birth From Darkness

A long time ago there were people who could weild key-like weapons to protect heart of everything, Kingdom Hearts. These people were dubbed Keyblade Weilders, Keyblades are special key-like weapons that are used to preserve the balance of both light and darkness. Out of this war, the key blade weilders of both light and dark fought to create a key. The ultimate key. The very key that will unlock Kingdom Hearts. The X-blade. Unfortunately , the war was a failure and every key blade warrior that fought in the war died. All that was left of them was the key blades that were stabbed into the ground, making a crossroad. And thus, the Keyblade Graveryard was born and on this site, the legend was past down through generations of keyblade warriors, especially to a certain young man that was born on an island deep in the Lanes Between. This man , who wanted to leave this island so bad, became a key blade wielder and started researching on many myths and legends about the keyblade war and Kingdom Hearts.

Years passed and the young man became an old crone who was obsessed with darkness. After years of research and planning, he came up with a very malevolent scheme that would change the very course of reality. But because he wasted his time planning this scheme, he started growing old and decrepit. He needed to find a vessel - and fast. That is when he started looking around different worlds for an apprentice and a worthy vessel. When he visited a nice small world called Twilight Town, he found a boy- a boy called Ventus. This boy had no friends, no family, and no place to call home. He was alone, so alone. But deep down, he had a strong heart and a strong wanting of something more. That is what attracted Xehanort, the old man, to him. That was the day that Ventus’ and also my life began.

Even though Ventus is able to wield a key blade, the idiot had a fear of darkness so after not choosing to wield it to fight several Neoshadow heartless, the master was not pleased. So he took his key blade and extracted the darkness from within Ventus’ heart. That is how I was born. My eyes opened hen I heard the words “Empty creature from Ventus riven… to you, the name Vanitas shall be given.” On that day, a demon was born and his name was Vanitas.

 

Chapter 2: The First Day

I bowed before my master and said to him "Thank you, Master Xehanort for creating me." The old man smirked and said "No need to thank me boy. Now, stand up. I have to check up on Ventus." I did as I was told and stood up as he bent down and observed the weak fool on the ground. His eyes were closed and it didn't seem like he was breathing. It looked like the idiot couldn't handle it and must have became unconscious. Such is the fate of a weakling. "Useless. Useless to the very end. If you don't have what it takes, then you should just die." But, Master Xehanort thought differently. He looked at me with a angered look in his eyes and said to me "Hold your tongue, boy. Or else you will understand those too." When he said that to me, I said nothing else and stood there quietly. That was the first time, I have ever felt fear.

After a moment or two of observing Ventus's light within his heart, Master Xehanort picked the fool up and turned to me. "It's no good. Ventus's light is starting to parish. I'm taking him to the place where I grew up so he can live his remaining days in peace. Vanitas, wait here. If your darkness gets near him too much, his light would fade instantly and he would literally die in one second." I nodded and said "Yes, Master Xehanort." But as he was stepping into a dark portal that he had just conjured up, I stopped him in his tracks by saying the following sentence outloud. "Why are you pitying him? He's going to die anyways so what is the point, Master?" A few seconds of silence filled the gap between us until Xehanort said to me "It is because we are honoring him for all that he has done for me. No matter what, this boy didn't give up and that is why I am making his final days peaceful, Vanitas." And after those couple of sentences, he walked into the portal and left this world and me a lone.

I sat down on a large flat boulder, thinking about what the old man said to me. "Honor? what a bogus word." I then sighed and said to myself outloud "I am just manifested darkness. I have no honor. Just pride, and power. That is all I ever need. Power. Pure complete power and nothing more. That is why I existed and that is why I live. I live just so that Master Xehanort can complete his plan. After it is complete, I am done. And that is what I learned on the first day of my life.
