We Need to Talk About This Section

    Well, what the title says. This area is supposed to be a reward, but it's fallen into disuse. I'm not sure how many vets are still out there, but what do you think we should be using this section for? Suggestions? Should we just get rid of the area? I'd hate to do that, but if no one wants to use it, we could turn the area into something else.

    Discuss, all you of the 2000+ posts.

    There is no use for there to be a posting section for VETS due to it never being used ever since it has been created. We try that so many times to post in here and the section kept on failing. Best to either leave it be or remove it since we like to talk about subjects in other parts. My suggested plan:

    1. Give them a reward (We should create one) and recognition for making being a posting/ supporting member (Don't care if we keeping the post count at 2,000 or if we are knocking it down. I prefer that we lower the posts down to 1,500 maybe. If we have to lower the Elite post requirement some, then that is fine too).

    2. Increase the max number limit of pictures that a member can have for their album(s).

    3. VET may now have a larger signature size (Still need a limit. Can be like 550 * 300 or something like that).

    That is a something that I had came up with for now.

    I'm unsure how many vets are active, and I suspect many of them are actually staff, but I do like the idea of having this hidden area to BS in. I see this sort of like the Member's Lounge, except there's post count here, as far as I'm aware, so it's a bit less of a free-for-all.

    If you mean an award like a VBExperience award, I'm not sure it's possible to make one that can be awarded to more than one person.

    I don't know. Since we can't delete the threads in this area, and it seems stupid to just leave it as is, I'd still like to try and do something in here. I suppose I could end up hiding the forum from everyone if it turns out no one wants to give it a go, but I'd prefer not to.

    I would agree with Summoner. There's really no point to having the VETS lounge (at least as is). We barely have any VETS on the site that are active. Most of the people that have the post count for it are already staff members and thus have access to the Staff section. Assuming nothing's already being done with this area, there might as well be something happening with it.

    We could always use this area as a bit of competition for Vets. I'm not sure if staff do this amongst themselves but we could always do some kind of miscellaneous competitions for Vets. Winner gets a Rep point or, given ample time, I could buy irl KH related stuff to give away.

    Naw, don't bother, if you want to refresh this place up try to concentrate things like that to the forums as whole, the activity hasn't been that great for years in any parts of these discussion boards.

    anyway I think it's better if this section doesn't get deleted.

    VET Section is pretty useless. Either the VETs are staff or gone.

    Maybe, we should change this section to something more of an award for members. That would really get long-term members posting.

    I agree this section is useless. What do you mean by an award for members, though? Because that's kind of what this section is supposed to be now- an area to reward loyal members who post a lot and stick around. It just fails because no one posts a lot or sticks around anymore.

    I don't think what is at fault here is because no one posts or sticks around. Even when people were around (presumably by the threads in this forum), this section didn't receive much activity, because there were other sections where they could actually get a better reaction. The only advantage, that I see this forum having, is: it's exclusive, and that's kinda the problem with the little VETs that we have now.

    At the time that I made that post, I was thinking that the vBExperience was sitting there collecting dust. And I'm sure that you've noticed the orange, blue, and green bars underneath people's username. Well, that has to do with vBExperience (vBE). The purpose of vBExperience is to increase posting by awarding users. If we could upload some cool things there, users can buy those things at the vBE shop with the points that they have accumulated from posting. Then this little section could, for instance, give users who post in this forum a 5x point bonus. VETs buy more cool things, regular members say "ooo and ahh". They post more, eventually becoming VETs themselves and posting here only to repeat the cycle.

    That's all in theory though, and we probably don't have the man power to do so. But I used to fight over the activity award which looks like this: [​IMG]

    It appears right before the username, and allows customization, or possibly awards can be displayed elsewhere. It was just a motivational idea that I was thinking about at the time, which doesn't sound half crazy if we could actually pull it off.

    I think maybe my post sounded a little condescending, but I didn't actually mean it that way- I was really trying to understand what you were meaning. So my apologies if it came off that way. I'm kind of a bitch most of the time. >_<

    I'd actually like to see more awards and the shop up and running, because as far as I know, the shop has never been operational. And that would make this section more purposeful, because I still don't think we should just delete it, but it's even more idiotic to leave it like this for eternity. But you would know better than I what all's entailed in getting all of that working. If it's doable, it could be worth a try.

    Eh. Consolidate activity and delete redundant forums. such as this one.

    EDIT: Like, seriously. Place is a bit of a clusterfuck right now. We've got so many forums and subforums it's like having the amount of furniture for a studio apartment be moved into a mansion without getting any more. Just one big empty building.

    I'd say this place should be stricken from the forums; there aren't very many people left beyond staff that actually have privilege to view/use it and even when there were, it wasn't put to enough (unique) use to make it viable.

    Even when this forum was more active, others have said that it wasn't even used much to begin with. Perhaps there's a better system for Vets that can be used that'll put them on a pedestal. Maybe something like a cool award, like Angel stated. On another forum there's a little shop that exists (that forum runs on vB) in which people accumulate points for posting and, when they have a certain (high) amount, they're able to purchase items that others can't. Maybe if one reaches Vet status, they're automatically given a boost in their post points, and they're able to purchase more out-of-reach items that normal members can't, which could make them feel all cool and of ~higher status~ than normal members. I think that the username color change is nice, but perhaps something like I described could be considered.
