After a hiatus of no information, we finally receive a trailer at TGS (Toyko Game Show) of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue. And a official release of January 17 2017 was confirmed. Essentially delaying it from the previously estimated December release of this year. If you haven’t seen the trailer, you can view it below!
If you aren’t keen on the story or are a new-comer to Kingdom Hearts then this trailer looks nice, but means nothing. I’ll sum it up briefly.
Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover
Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover takes place in a distance past before the first title of the series. It’s an HD cinema of past events that will ultimately impact and conclude the events in Kingdom Hearts 3. The story illustrates the Master of Masters (one of the Black Coats in the trailer), and his six disciples ( 5 wearing animal masks and another Black Coat). One day, before disappearing the Master of Masters bestowed the Book of Prophecies ( a book that outlines future events, it’s also the book in the trailer ) to 5 of the 6 disciples and gave them new names. They read the tomes within the book and discovered the worlds were to fall to darkness. And to prevent this calamity, they started their own Unions (factions). Unbeknownst to the others, the 6th disciple (Luxu, Black Coat) was given the Lost Page of the Book of Prophecies, which detailed his master’s intentions, and outlined, not the destruction of the worlds as the other’s did, but how the strife between the Unions would lead to the Keyblade Wars. He was tasked to observe these events to ensure they would occur as prophesied. The trailer basically outlines the strife between the fortellers as they try to prevent the prophecy from coming true, and supposedly their is a traitor in their midst, who will undermine them all. Also , we see Chirithy sleeping. He’s the player’s companion in KHUX and was created by the Master of Masters.
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep A Fragmentary Passage
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep A Fragmentary Passage is a continuation of Aqua’s story after the events of KHBBS (taking place 10 years prior to the first title). Concluding KHBBS, Xehanort failed to recreate the Keyblade Wars that he heard about in times past. The three disciples, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus, all meet tragic ends including their master, Master Eraqus. Eraqus was slain by another disciple of his Master (who isn’t known) named Xehanort. Xehanort is the main antagonist of Kingdom Hearts. Xehanort ultimately, took over Terra’s body. Ventus’s body was taken over by Vanitas, who is Xehanort’s apprentice and Ventus’ other half, after he fell into a coma. (Ventus was also Xehanort’s apprentice prior to being Eraqus’s apprentice). Aqua sacrificed herself to save Terra from the Realm of Darkness and got trapped herself. And this is the point that we follow Aqua’s adventure in the Realm of Darkness in KH0.2 BBS. In the trailer, you see Ventus in a coma. Castle of Dreams has fallen into darkness as it did in KH1. You also see Terra and Ventus each controlled by Xehanort and Vanitas respectively attack Aqua.
Kingdom Hearts HD 3D Dream Drop Distance
Kingdom Hearts HD 3D Dream Drop Distance is a HD remastery of Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance. Taking place approximately two years after the first title and immediately after Kingdom Hearts 2. Sora and Riku embark on the Mark of Mastery exam to become Keyblade Masters in order to overcome Xehanort and his followers. Their exam is interrupted by Xehanort as he tries to capture Sora and restart the Keyblade Wars. Ultimately, he fails again as he did in KHBBS.
