During June 5th 2012, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Square-Enix showed their next gen engine in a tech demo called “Agni’s Philosophy.” The demo is run by DirectX11 and uses the new Luminous Engine, Square has been teasing for a long time. In an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, he stated that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was using Luminous for its lighting. We are ever so close to the next generation of consoles and while watching this real time tech demo, it is hard not to be excited. As an interesting side note, Agni’s Philosophy has its own URL page. Is it an actual game unlike Final Fantasy VII’s tech demo? In addition to that, Crystal Dynamics, the creators of Tomb Raider, designed the concept art for Agni’s Philosophy; this is the first collaboration between the two companies other than Square owning them. We’ll keep you updated on all things Square-Enix including Agni’s Philosophy!
