We have two at my school as classroom pets. The two we have are kind of hateful- they huff and puff if you disturb them, and you have to wear special gloves to pick them up, but once you grab hold of them and they calm down, you can pet them, and they are super cute.
Hmm... that might just be a socialization issue. I never had classroom pets in my early education. I can't imagine they get quite the right socializing that they need in that setting.
Could be. I know one of the teachers takes hers home on the weekends when the weather is nice, and the hedgehog is friendlier there than he is at school. The shrieking kids have probably given them anxiety, tbh.
That would be cool to have one then you could name it "Sonic" or "Amy". I also had a hedgehog as a school pet but I didn't care enough to pay attention to it.
