Capital Punishment

Do you really have to ask how killing somebody to show that killing is wrong is wrong?

We kill to show that you should not kill. We punish with the very thing that the punished is being punished for.

It makes no sense.

Killing someone for killing DOES make you a hypocrite. You just committed the same crime as the dude getting blasted by electricity. As for the other statement, going to prison is a punishment, and punishment is meant to teach you not to do it again. The death penalty does not do that because you won't learn anything for long. Besides prison actually sucks big. At least, most of them do.

 

Prison isnt a LESSON, its a PUNISHMENT. people dont care if you get reformed, all its for is to take you out of society! if you are to dangerous they remove you forever. It has nothing to do with teachin a lesson. Life isnt a PBS special.

 

Good Grief! If your mom grounds you for something then according to your words she is just doing it to cause you grief. Punishment is meant to TEACH YOU! It tells that your actions are not tolerated and that there is a consequence that you must pay for your actions with. One of my friends is currently in Juvy. I care that he reforms or he will just end up in there again or worse. I have another thing to say. Generalizing is incredibly stupid! You can't assume that every one thinks like you. I am a case in point.

This is starting to sound more like an argument than a debate, folks. It ain't got too out of hand yet, but I'd like to prevent it from doing so. Let's try and be nice to each other please.

 

Im not talking smack, nor do I have no facts. Im sure i know more about all of this than any of you, because its my career. Zereith is complaining because he clearly has personal prejudice in his issue. and if you expect me to show you facts, then show me some of yours. there is a difference between cheating on your math test (your grounded mister) and KILLING SOMEONE (lethal injection time!). Believing the world cares if you reform is called being naive. They dont care about YOU, they care about the people you hurt, and the people you COULD hurt. grow up.

Did I ever say the world cared? If the world cared, then there would be no wars, no poverty, and no intolerance.

The point of jail is to try to punish people for what they did. Sure, it's also to get them off the street, but most prisons do things that will teach people how to start off anew and be legit.

Organizations like Homeboys help people before this happens.

The point it, we should spend less money on electric chairs and more money on trying to help people reform.

And Luke... I don't think I killed anybody. So it's not fair to tell me to die. Or at least, that's the way you see it.

 

Look you. I don't appreciate the crap I'm getting over on my end (al sorry). You whant facts then look at t.v. on a judges show. Those defense aturneys usually are trying to make money. You make money by winning cases. Thats how it is. Also Juvy can be bad. Especially if your freinds are not around. Prison is worse because life goes on without you. Your life is shattered, your freinds are gone, and nobody trusts you. I respect that you have your own opinion but I don't enjoy bing screamed at, don't bother denying it. I know tones of posts and you are screaming. I am sorry it is hitting hard but you have to look at it from all views. Think of every possiblity for gods sake! And I am not complaining. I am completely confused by this. Are you basing your arguments on the stylings of Judge Judy? When did I make fun of you? And i wasn't talking down to you I was stating "my side" of the argument. What possibilities are you talking about, possibilities for what? And this is about capital punishment, not being sent to juvy, I really couldnt care less about someone getting sent to juvy.

Oh, and i NEVER scream. That just makes you loud, and has nothing to do with getting your point across. You're much more effective when you simply speak calmly. (also im typing not talking so... yeah clearly not screaming)

 

Nope, just basing off of fact. The US is one greedy nation. Apologies to any and all offended. Number one, if the guy murdered someone should we first try to teach him he is in the wrong in a way that he can reflect on it instead of being ripped from his body? Number two the families are helped in these situations. Instead of getting help from people who know nothing about the victims background, the are getting help from friends and family. Also you said I was just complaining and not thinking any of this through. I happen to be old enough to know when I am in the wrong and when I am not. In this case no one can really be in the wrong until in all circles it is resolved. I think it is wrong to take a life for a life, but you think it is wrong to let the one who took a life walk away. You also seemed to have ignored the wisdom in my post. I said that Juvy, a kiddy form of prison, can be bad. Prison can be even worse. This is so because life goes on without you, you lose the friends you have, and no one can trust you. That is what is technically called living hell. Walking life alone for the rest of your will no doubt hammer into you that you should have found a different way besides killing. That is what I said.

 

um.. ok? Once again im speaking of capital punishment only, juvy doesnt matter to me at all, i really couldnt care less. and also as far as reforming killers, you realize the 2 penalties for murder are death or life in prison, so even if he is "reformed" he will never get out. In my opinion death is far more merciful than life in prison.

Acutally, I agree only the lines of burtal murderers and rapists, but other than that, not everyone deserves to die.

And also, believe it or not, it's not that hard to escape from jail. It's just that most people decide not to do it.

 

Most people realize it isn't worth it. You'd sepnd your entire life looking over your shoulder hiding from the world. And when you do finally get out, it's just gonna be that much worse.
