Capital Punishment

Really? so you're arguing for one more chance, then fry them? HAHAHAHA the whole time you've been defending no capital punishment when really you're saying "alright, one more chance or straight to the gas chambers!" those are 2 very different points hahahaha.

 

Death Row isn't a bad thing really.
You get a mass murderer, I'll say he deserves to die.
But when you have someone who gets stuffed there for protecting someone from an attacker, and even though that person killed the other on purpose, should they still be killed for their actions? That is an interesting question.

But if you have someone who is in for manslaughter, (don't think it can happen), should they be on death row?

 

Manslaughter doesnt get death row. Also, protecting someone from an attacker is self defense which generally doesnt recieve punishment.

 

People only care when the people around them are effected. If some person in Nevada's grandmother were to suddenly be in prison you honestly couldn't care less and don't deny it.

The system exists, but it's not very well enforced. When it comes down to it, its that people just don't care enough.

 

That's true, but it seems to me that even the innocent have a damn hard time getting out through the appeal system, and to SkylerOcon, you're right, if someone else's grandma got sent to prison, I probably wouldn't care, even though its the right thing to care.

 

No, If they are smooth talkers. Also when you are set for first degree murder the jury doesn't even bat an eye when you try to appeal it. More innocents end up on the chair more than you think. It is rare that anyone ever gets out.

 

That's not good. I don't have that much expirience with court outside of Phoenix Wright, so I don't really have much to say other than this.

 

^Love that game. Yeah some innocent people do get the chair, and some criminals do get out. Stuff happens, nothing is perfect. I don't see how this relates to no C.P. unless you're saying because some innocent people get it than it needs to stop. I still hold it that its the way to go. I would never wish mercy on a person who single handedly destroyed something so important in my life. It's easy to make the argument when you aren't the one suffering.

 

I am suffering in life. My own grandpa commited suicide. I have seen the suffering that occurs when someone close dies before there time. How ever that doesn't mean revenge is the way. I personally think that a murdred person would be proud to see us rise above our instincts and refuse to kill in turn.

No there is not. He was still taken from me wasn't he? All those loan sharks that got him into that mess he was in. Instead he just decided it wasn't worth it. He pulled the trigger, but other people gave him the gun.

 

no. Nothing is that simple. Any trouble he got in he got himself into, which is the same for any criminal. Its not like those "loan sharks" just came up to him one day and said "hey, we decide that you owe us money". He got himself into trouble and he dealt with it. Just with criminals, when they get into trouble, we deal with it.

Well anyway...I'm sorry but I have to agree with Zenrot. It was his problem. He got himself into that mess. If we wanted to get out he could've fight but instead he ended his life. I know I might should heartless for saying this but I guess he was weak. (Again sorry, my grandfather passed away too)

Do you how many times I sat alone crying and wanting to end my life? Do you how many times people would look down at me and call me fat, ugly, stupid, and other things. It wasn't the Loan Sharks that came at me and call me names, it was my own family. I was called stupid, clumsy, and that I won't get far in life. I want to ended my life so badly, thinking that if I was gone, my family might be rich, that they might live a better life, that they won't live in shame no more.

I held a knife to my risk countless times that I lost track. I thought I was a pussy for not doing it. I always hesitated on slitting my risk. I am a Allied Health major and I know where all the vital artery and veins are, but I could not do it. I blame myself and I stress out then I thought one day.

If I live, my family is going to suffer and if I die, they won't suffer. I guess I chose to suffer my family instead of granted them happiness. Then I thought again. FCK Them! I want to prove to them that no matter what, no matter what you say about me, I am going to crave my name on a everlasting stone, no matter what you say. You can say all this shit and I don't give a FCK. I am going to do me and thats what I do best. I am going to get my goal and stick my middle finger at you and laugh.

You FCK with me I FCK with you back. That is the motto that I live by. I guess it make me a stronger person. It get me so mad when I see teens killing themselves. B!TCH Get over it! Work it out!

I don't recall calling him stupid. I said he bit a scam. Plenty of smart people can bite a scam. When you are in a stressful period you are much easier to prey on. But I did mean what I said when I called it all his fault that he got into trouble. I do express sympathy for the situation, I'm very sorry this had to happen, but you can't throw the blame on other people.

Also, I would like to get back on the main topic of this debate, I see little of what this story has to do with capital punishment besides maybe it sucks when people die. But please, stick to the topic, this isnt the first time we have deviated from capital punishment to some other scenario involving prison or death.

Also Yukou, exactly, rise above the diffuculties don't succumb to them.

Going on to the capital punishment I still believe that there is a chance that the person on the chair is innocent. Give the dude a second chance. Thats all anyone should ask for.

I "owe" no respect to anyone for anything, I don't know this person and he certainly hasn't gained my respect from what you have told me so far. I do recall giving condolences for that awful situation, but I didn't NEED to do anything, so don't give me that because I could've been much worse.

Give the dude a second chance... Ok, so if he rapes and murders my wife, ill give him a pat on the shoulder and say "get back out there and give it your all pal!" I think not.
