This isn't an RP yet so save your character sheet Zer. This entire thread is about helping our Band get a massive RP rolling. If you read the past twenty pages, Merlin, Riku, and myself have done a lot with help from some other members to get where we are.

The reason Merlin is posting characters is because those are NPCs he'll be using.

Must I really read 20 pages worth of stuff, considering how long you post all the time? Why don't you just give me the run down.

Uhm i think it already is xD
you should read the first page instruction and maybe then Hare could help you =p

Alright, perhaps we should consider starting this thing soon. This place just keeps slowing down more and more in the RP section.

What merlin started is a nice taste of what we can do here. It just that I have one small concern...

Will ppl want to join this?

  5. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

People with the time to learn and who are not too lazy, probebly will. But we have to make sure this RP becomes HUGE!

  6. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

Yes we will, but its hard to get any RP going around here anymore. This will be more like a written version of a video game, but the hights we're reaching for are astronomical....

    ........hmmm......

I like a good challenge. I wonder if I can get ppl to come to this sight just for this RP?

  7. merlinosheep

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

Maybe we should start telling people about this place. Or like placing vague message in all of our sigs, that relates to this RP and the BoCB

  8. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

I can definately do that. We're off topic here. So we'll just take this to PM eh?

Zer: You should at least skim through the pages. The three of us have done extensive work throughout this thread. Conversing on what should go into the RP and what shouldn't. It would actually be beneficial to you if you read as you'll get a sense of what we will be more likely to consider, and what not.

Advertising this RP is a good idea guys and I hope it goes well. Right now Riku we can't start as we don't have all the books up for the classes.

I'm going to have to work on something for Mages and Sages. It looks like the best route is to let people create their own spells with costs and if we approve then we add it to the books. For now I'm thinking we don't have to worry about Witch/Wizard level spells, however we do need to make them at some point.

Merlin, I'm not sure, but have you changed anything with Shadow Mages and Necromancers?

I've re-quoted the above because I haven't seen any spell books for them or I'm not sure if they're finished. I need an update report from you guys.

    merlinosheep A.K.A The Leaver

I thought i completed Thaumaturge (glacier mage) but not sure bout it.
And for shadowmage: I still have to make some minor updates

  12. Beloved

    Beloved Azure's Beloved

I'm getting started on Storm Mage now, but as for Necromancer...I need to think about that one. Seeing as how they'll be the bad guys, they'll need more abilities than the rest of the mages.

And it might just be easier if we were to allow them to make their own spells. If you give them a certain level to work with, along with restrictions, that might just work too. Because I'm sure that a truly skilled mage can create their own spells when they become more experienced.

    Shadowmage

Shadowmages are mages who chose to specialize in the dark sides of the art. They are known as the Fallen Mages, and are typically evil. They stir shadows to their bidding and can fade into darkness. Some of the legendary shadow mages, are even known to be able to alter reality.
But it's not only gold and sunshine... Shadowmages have to swear the oath of a demon before they can practice the art safely...
Shadowmages are known to mostly live no longer then 18 years, but with incredible capability

    Initiate-

Dark Aura - An Initiate Shadowmage must be able to surround himself with small shadows, mostly generated from the mages heart. Later on Shadowmages will be trained to conceal themselves in these shadows, and force them into a physical form.

Create Darkness - As an Initiate, a shadowmage will also learn how to transform the surrounding area to his liking. This will, in sorcerer rank(or higher), be trained for making the foe(s) incapable of seeing, hearing or even moving.

Stir shadow- As an Initiate, a Shadowmage will also learn how to be able to control shadows to their bidding. They will be able to make it a physical form, able of attacking.
These Shadows can be stirred into everything imaginable. Maybe even a person...

    Scorcerer/Scorceress level spells;

Conceal Presence - With your training in 'dark aura', you will be able to conceal your presence and fade into shadows. As long as you are surrounded by shadows or reveal yourself, you will not be noticed. How long it can be held, depends on strenght. Also shadowmages should be wary of holding it for a long time, as it slowly consumes your presence. Stay in this state for to long, and you'll be a hollow form of your old being...

    Requirements
1.) Must have knowledge over Dark Aura.
2.) Must have a minimum of 4 ranks in Shadow
3.) Must have a minimum of 1 rank in Spirit

Shadow weapons - With your knowledge over creating shadows, you will be learned to form them into the physical form of any weapon you can imagine. These can be thrown, used for attacking or dissolved for being stirred into another form. The stronger the mage, the bigger/faster and the more powerfull the weapon.

    Requirments
1.) Must have knowledge over Stir Shadows.
2.) Must have a minimum of 3 ranks in Shadow.
3.) Must have a minimum of 2 ranks in Spirit.
4.) Must have a minimum of 3 ranks in Create Darkness.

    Secret Art: Alter Reality (Sun)
You have gained the first level of the secret shadow mage art. This spell depletes the rays of the sun in the current position. The light turns darker and almost purple, and makes the air cold.

    Requirements:
1.) Must have knowledge over stir shadows.
2.) Must have a minimum of 5 ranks in shadow
3.) Must have a minimum of 5 ranks in Create Darkness

    Mage level spells;

Black Box - One of the most powerfull shadow-control spells of the Shadowmage. After a very long training, the mage will be able to create a complete area of darkness in the form of a square (the black box is very feared among mages and warriors). Within this box, nothing grows, there is no light, and senses are depleted. driving the persons inside it nuts over time! (this all: except for the caster). This way the mage will have all the freedom attacking the foes for a short time, because this spell takes major energy and spirit to fufill.

    Requirments
1.) Must have a minimum of 8 Ranks in Shadow
2.) Must have a minimum of 7 ranks in create darkness
3.) Must have a minimum of 6 ranks in stir shadows
4.) Must have a minimum of 8 ranks in spirit

Living Shadow- with endless training in the arts of stirring shadows, you are now able to perform the ultimate art of the Shadowmage... creating living shadows. With the help of dark rituals, and high concentration, you can create dark animals like: Ravens, bats, Rhyno, koi or even unknown ones...
Legends tell a powerfull shadowmage once had the power to create copies of persons from the flow of their minds... later to be spies for the shadowmage...

    Requirments
1.) Must have a minimum of 12 ranks in Create Shadows.
2.) Must have a minimum of 9 ranks in stir shadows.
3.) Must have a minimum of 3 ranks in conceal presence
4.) Must have a minimum of 10 ranks in spirit
5.) Must have a minimum of 6 ranks in Summoning
6.) Must have knowledge over Flora and Fauna

    Secret Art: Alter Dimension (portal)

You have gained the Second tier level of the secret shadow mage art. With this, you are able to create a dark portal to the land of shadows. The mage, nor any human can enter, without being dissintegrated..
But the shadows that lurk within, will not hesitate to come out...

    Requirements:

1.)Must have knowledge over all other spells!
2.)Must have a minimum of 10 ranks in stir shadows, create darkness and shadow
3.)Must ahve a minimum of 5 ranks in spirit

For your point system, well, it doesn't quite seem realistic.

First, I want to make it clear that i do agree that we need one since the character development will be a lot more in depth in this rp.

Keeping that in mind, it has the added bonus of discouraging people who are new, or not devoted roleplayers.

Second, i disagree with the way points will be awarded. Instead of having it so that points are awarded whenever a spell is used. To make sure that people don't get points out the wazoo, we can set up a experience and make the points more like levels. Say, for each time a spell is used, 10 exp is awarded. 100 exp to level the character, depending on how many spells they know. Say, 100 + (#spells * 10) So that the character will develop and gain knowledge in a timely manner, while also being able to use magic and get something other than clocking a few heads in a bar brawl. So..

    Level 1 = 100 Exp to advance.

Level 2 = 110 Exp (if a new spell was learned, In this case 1) to advance

Level 3 = 120 Exp (if new spell)

    Etc, etc.

Also more exp will be awarded for more advanced spells, since the spells require more knowledge. You learn more by using the advanced stuff than by just using the basics over and over and over.

So basically, first spell = 10 exp award for use. Second spell = 15 exp award for use.

Keep in mind that we could make the amounts of exp different, like 1000 to advance or something like that.

Yah, we've kinda been over this. Won't people then just use the spells as much as possible and not care about the flow of battle anymore??

First things first, Merlin I'll get to looking over Shadow Mages here in a moment. Thanks for getting that re-posted so quick.

Next I want to let you guys know how sub-classes should probably work. Because of how our point system is set up a lot of what I had originally planned is getting crossed over with the system I had originally thought out, so, to compensate for this anyone taking a sub-class will have to find an instructor as a requirement for any sub-class. This means that they will have to learn similarly to how a Geomage would, by harmonizing their characters body with the other element. They will also need to have a teacher of either the needed element, or of the sub-class they wish to take. That means if a Pyromage wants to be a Magmamage, he/she will need to find a Magnimage or a Magmamage to teach them how to harmonize their body as well as handle the new element.

Third on the list is the point system. As Merlin has stated, Zer, we have already addressed this. The way that seems most beneficial (while it is tedious on our part) is to award points via chapter. If a character has helped develop the plot (and is recognized by us the GM's) then a certain amount will be given. These points will be stacked as at the least there should be two mini-bosses and one major for the chapters.

I said it would be tedious because this system means we will have to moderate a lot of what's happening. While players are given a large amount of freedom, they also have restrictions. One of which being that if anyone wants information out of an NPC either one of us has to play it, or we have to clear what information is given out. In a sense we're allowing players to play as their characters, but we are controlling the twists and turns of the story. Much like D.M.s in Dungeons and Dragons. More or less.

As far as players go, we're not looking to actually attract (well I'm not) new players. I'm simply wanting to run an RP that will last, has fun, does well, and does something different for the general RP here on KH. What we are doing here, is actually doing that. Or it will.

EDIT: Nicely done with the Shadowmage, Merlin! I'm quite surprised, and even tempted to taste that forbidden art ;D. Don't forget to add the down side to being a Shadowmage (the age length. Maybe even shorten it to 15 yrs rather than 20?)

Was just a thought. I can always re introduce the idea in the Aura rp I have in mind.

Another thing that we'll probably have to do to save on space for our OOC thread so it doesn't get crammed is have people make their character profiles in the actual profile section of the RP area. This way people can also keep their points up-to-date and they're not hunting down their character sheets in the OOC thread. As a bonus they can also c/p the spells their character knows.
