Tess dove the opposite way of Oryx avoiding the oncoming spikes. “Fool” the mixed voice began “Why woul…” The sentence was cut short as the fiery hammer slammed into Tess creating a fiery explosion which sent her sprawling to the dirt. “Damn it Merrick!” Tess thought “Keep your bloody speeches to yourself and watch my back!” her thoughts seethed. “Apologies” Merrick responded shortly after. The fusion allowed Tess and Merrick to think as one, it was a unique ability but it was difficult to maintain it for long periods of time.

The human seems to have gained some abilities of his own” Merrick said to Tess. “We should kill him now, before this becomes a real problem” Tess didn’t respond. Instead she picked herself up off the ground and took up the scythe. She reached into her pouch and produced a small bomb. She flicked the fuse with her thumb and it ignited. Throwing the bomb between Kable and Oryx it blew with a loud bang and the area quickly began to fill with smoke. With the distraction set Tess quickly closed the distance between herself and Kable and attacked, with Merrick attacking at any given opportunity.

Jaxx simply tried to jump backward but was caught unguarded as Lilith's weapon changed direction and caught her legs out from under her. Luckily, the sharper blade had fallen just beyond, so it was only the wood handle that struck her. She felt a soft crack on the leg that had been hit as she tumbled on her side back to the ground, landing quite heavily on her injured shoulder. Luckily, Raven's words held true and the lack of feeling in her scarred arm did help to lessen the blow. However, she did still feel an odd crunch which signified some bone in her arm had at very least fractured. The bitter realization that Lilith had improved in the time it took to catch up to her left a furrow on Jaxx's brow. But she had no time to lament the truth as she heard Lilith's bisento whistle through the air downward toward her. Jaxx quickly rolled to her side to narrowly escape a second blow from the bisento. But a tremble was still sent through the earth from the force of Lilith's strength that kicked up stone and threw Jaxx once again.
Jaxx tumbled back to the ground and rolled to a rather ungraceful stop before shakily getting back to her feet. She wiped a bit of silver blood from her lip, as she caught Lilith's eye once again. "So much for your aversion to violence." Her katana, which had fallen from her hands after Lilith's attack, transformed into a bolt again from the ground where it lay. This time the bolt struck Jaxx's hand and disappeared to reveal her weapon safely back in hand. "But, if I must drag you back kicking and screaming, so be it."
Still somewhat favoring her injured leg, Jaxx knew it would be foolish to enter Lilith's range again. So, she would have to rely on ranged attacks and avoidance to keep the upper hand. Even if that meant more advanced attacks. She would just have to hope that Lilith's energy would be exhausted before her own. Jaxx narrowed her eyes, focusing all of her energy on the area just in front of Lilith. The static in the air all around the area thickened just before another massive bolt of electricity struck from the sky just in front of Jaxx's target, right past Voltair and Raven who were just above them.

    "No promises..."

Raven shot Voltair a disapproving look at his reply to her protest, though somehow she was not surprised. She had a sneaking suspicion this was not the last time he would mess with her in this way, possibly not even the first. She changed the subject, though, as she realized something that interested her more to ask about. Voltair had not yet interacted with the rest of her group, except that he somehow knew Merrick had caught up to them earlier. At least, this was the case as far as Raven knew "How did you know we decided to leave Gerik behind for this-" Raven started to say but paused, noticing the static suddenly building in the air. Familiar with what that meant after being herself on the receiving end of Jaxx's power, she held out a hand and a veil of white light spread in a disk-like shape just in front of herself and Voltair just in time to shield both of them from the bolt that shot right in front of them. Raven's arm buckled slightly from the force of it, and her magic barrier shattered like glass. However, she did manage to shield the both of them from damage. Foolish, careless girl! She sighed, appearing somewhat annoyed though she didn't address it other than that. "Either way, I hope your faith in your allies is justified. And as much as appreciate your words of making sure I'm safe, you'll have to forgive my rudeness. I have already learned to rely only on myself for such things." she disappeared then and re-appeared on the ground moments later not far from where the two sides were fighting. She expected Voltair was not far behind, though.

"So much for your aversion to violence. But, if I must drag you back kicking and screaming, so be it."

Lilith frowned at Jaxx's words and readied her weapon again, shaking her head slightly, "With you, violence seems to be the only way I can get through that thick skull of yours. The way you were raised, words mean nothing. So if I have to stoop to violence to make you listen to me, for once in your life, then so be it." As she finished speaking, the air began to grow thick with static and before she could react, the ground in front of her exploded as a bolt of lightning struck suddenly.

Jaxx gave Lilith no time to recover from the blow of the lightning. Charging forward she transformed pulled out her other sword, pointing both of them at the ground and transforming both of them into second bolts before leaping into the air, using the blast of her weapons to elevate her much higher to jump over even Lilith's head. Flipping her body upside down she shot two more bolts from her blades at Lilith beneath herself before landing on the ground behind her rival and jumping back once again to try to avoid any retaliation. Her choice of attacks were bold, and they would drain her energy much more quickly than usual. But she was determined to end this conflict as quickly as possible. "Stoop to violence, Lilith? Really? All this time exploring your own country and yet you still understand nothing! Enough of this! I can call off the assassins that attack your friends if you will only surrender."

Lilith, blinded and stunned by the large bolt of lightning, had barely any time to react as Jaxx went on the attack. Lifting her Bisento above her, she attempted to block the incoming attack, though the force behind it pushed her to one knee, and the bolts broke through, piercing both of her shoulders and sending electricity coursing through her body. Releasing a loud cry of pain, Lilith lifted a glowing fist and slammed it towards her retreating enemy to try and force her back more so that she could recover. "...You assume my words to be ignorance, but what I've seen only furthers my belief that there can be hope in peace. Maybe you are the one who is blinded to the ways of the world, and what needs to be done, Jaxx!" She responded through the pain, before rising back to full height ready for the next attack.

Kable was briefly blinded from the smoke bomb. He couldn't even see Oryx's fire feet from him. But Kable could feel the energy surrounding him. Oryx's energy was a warm feeling that left Kable slightly giddy with anticipation for the fight. Tess and Merricks were like a dark snake that slid through tall grass, hunting for mice. The shadowy feeling swept towards him and he raised his dark iron sword to defend himself.

Oryx had managed to land a lucky hit on the duo, but it did little to affect them it seemed, if anything it gave them more resolve to end this and they moved in quickly towards Kable under the cover of smoke. Oryx should have known that a smoke bomb would appear sooner or later in the fight, assassins could never do without them.

Blades flashed through the smoke, attempting to end his life. The iron sword in his hand flowed in front of him, catching most of the attacks. One attack caught Kable in his arm, sending a jolt of pain through his arm. Kable spun around, lowering himself under Tess' guard. He shouldered into the fused assassins and send her flying back to Oryx.

He could barely see, and he tried using his heat to clear it away from him, he needed to get to Kable quick. Though before he knew it the Assassin being was flying towards him. Oryx sheathed his sword and was quick on his feet to try and clasp the being in his arms in an attempt to crush them in his massive arms.

The shoulder had taken Tess by surprise and sent her stumbling backwards, Oryx was closing in arms stretched out in an attempt to catch them in his grip. Merrick stepped out of the armour and took his physical form, stopping Tess moments before she came into his reach. The giant arms closed in around Merrick bringing him towards Oryx as he proceeded to try and squeeze the life out of him. Merrick had managed to get his arms up and was push against Oryx’s breastplate trying to stop the man from crushing him. “I’m…sure…that you….are…a….handsome…..man” Merrick managed as he struggled against him. He suddenly turned to shadow leaving the big man’s arms to clang heavily into his own chest. “But we’ve only just met” Merrick said reappearing behind Tess. He mouthed a few words under his breath and there was a blue flash as his armour appeared.

Tess’s first instinct was to turn and attack the body that had stopped her stumbling. A quick reach with her powers and realised it was Merrick. She had left him to it and moved forward towards Kable at a run. She brought the scythe down in a diagonal arc but let the weapon drop before she’d completed the attack. Instead she moved forward launching herself off of the ground and kicking the mercenary square in the chest with both her feet. When she landed she rolled back stood and collected her weapon. She felt Merrick at her back and the two stood, waiting for their enemies to make a move.

The man’s words fell on deaf ears. Loch wouldn’t be reached with words. He continued his advance when suddenly he was taken off his feet. A solider had tackled him and the two now rolled in the mud grabbing and punching and growling at each other. Loch won the tussle and he no sat on the man’s chest punching again and again until the arms held up in a feeble defence went limp and still he continued. A sickening silence fell over the battlefield, any vigour felt by Haldor’s defeat now gone as the imperials witnessed the gruesome act.

Finnan stood his knuckles bloody and raw from the attack. Blood was dripping from his hands, it was indistinguishable if it was his or not. Without a second thought he picked up his blade and continued walking towards the general.

Jaxx scoffed, "Ignorant and Opinionated as ever I see." she shrugged "Pray tell, how on earth do you plan on making any changes with arguments like 'nu uh you're wrong.'" Her tone was mocking and somewhat exasperated. Once again, the smaller girl went on the offensive, shooting a bolt of lightning at a massive stone that was behind Lilith, which exploded on impact.
Noticing Raven's re-appearance she knew Voltair couldn't be far behind or that he was already defeated. Either way, Jaxx knew the conflict would have to be concluded quickly. She would have to try harder to wear her opponent down without going into her range.

"And how do you intend to change the world hunting me down? And mockery? Really? Tell me why killing me will change the world for the better and I will let you do so. I bet my life you don't have an answer to that." Lilith walked forward towards Jaxx, not flinching even as the rock exploded behind her, though some of the shrapnel pierced her back causing her to hiss in pain. "You've pursued me tirelessly and for what?! What do you hope to accomplish Jaxx?! At least I have a plan of action to better the country, you're just a slave to your father's will, just like you've always been! Until you can walk on your own two feet, then you have no place in my heart, nor on the throne."

She stopped as she stood directly in front of her enemy and stared down at her. With her anger plainly visible in her expression, Lilith lifted a glowing fist and punched downwards towards Jaxx.

Kable nearly cried out in triumph to see Tess and Merrick finally split apart. He wasn't fast enough, however, to block Tess' double footed kick to his chest. If Kable didn't have his demon powers at that moment, her kick would've put him out of the fight for sure. As it was, the kick did send Kable stumbling back and gasping for air. He took a knee and noticed Merrick escape from Oryx's massive bear hug. The two assassins put their backs to one another and faced their opponents.

Oryx squeezed tight Merrick, but the assassin squirmed and disappeared from his grasp with more humorous taunting. It did not surprise him that the man could easily faze out of his cluches, but it had been worth a shot. The two assassins were no longer one however, they were back to back.

We need to separate these two. Kable thought, his mind racing. Lilith and Jaxx were still destroying the ground around them and off in the distance, Kable could now sense Voltair and... Raven? Kable was briefly surprised by this, and decided he would confront Voltair later. For now, he reset his focus on his opponents.

Kable placed his sword hilt against the ground and mentally pushed some iron into the ground. He felt it race forward and he charged forward. Right when he reached Tess, the iron erupted as a wall between the two assassins. Tess stumbled forward, just enough for Kable to charge into her. He lifted the female assassin off her feet and slammed her into the iron wall.

Kable was quick to fix the delimma of duo being glued together, with a mighty thrust of his blade a wall of iron separated the two siblings. "Perhaps Kable should hold the title of iron lord..." Oryx joked to himself as he slammed two flaming hammers in the ground sending a wave of fire at Merrick. Oryx under the cover of his flaming blast charged forward swinging his hammers violently at Merrick.

Jaxx considered simply backing away or retaliating as Lilith simply walked toward her in combat. But she was honestly so stunned at her enemy's nativity in doing so, she simply stood still staring at her incredulously. At least outwardly. As Lilith got even closer, Jaxx silently started gathering all of the static from her surroundings. From the tiniest hint of friction created from all of the moving people in combat to the storm clouds above. She was preparing to use it to defend herself once Lilith was close enough. She was ready to use one last surge of power to end this once and for all...
"Do you ever shut up?" Jaxx shook her head, preparing to return to the offensive but she was interrupted again-

Upon hearing Lilith's words, Jaxx's temper had been peaked. "I belong to no one. Not my father and less to you!" Her body disappeared in mist-like static that danced around Lilith's punch before she re-took her form to Lilith's right side. From this closeness, her abilities would be much stronger. Though she was aware she was in greater danger of falling prey to Lilith's physical strength, she was too angered to care "While I've been out on battlefields protecting MY people, you continued to sit in your damn cell and TALK of peace. And criticize the decisions of your betters." she shot another bolt from her father's sword tip directly next to Lilith before disappearing back into the silvery sparks and reappearing just above LIlith's head "So don't ever again delude yourself into thinking you understand what I do for this country. Or that I want anything to do with your pathetic heart."

She could tell her words had struck a nerve in Lilith. She saw both of Lilith's fists start to glow, signaling an impending attack. Knowing she was in range, she was also aware there wasn't much she could do to avoid being hit. So she drew back her sword to meet her enemy's fist with another blast, intend to at least counter.

She moved to strike again from her sword, but upon summoning her power something felt off. In her rage, she had given up all control of her powers and she had incidentally gathered more power and used up more energy than she was able to control. The moment the blade of her father's weapon sparked and met with Lilith's, a much larger bolt of lightning struck both girls from the sky. The result of the collision of both of their powers resulted was a massive explosion that tore up the earth around the whole area and left a crater in its place. Lilith and Jaxx were nowhere to be found once the light died and the dust had settled.

((@Colonel Caboose Most of this is just kinda... narrative fluff. Honestly, you could just skip to the last paragraph. Anyways, it's time to conclude the Battle of Carmilla Sar.))

    ~Carmilla Sar, Eastern Outskirts~

Positioned and poised, both veiled and simultaneously blinded by the intensifying snowfall, a brigade of archers stood. With combustible adornments mounted to their arrows, and a row of oil-lit torches burning resiliently against the storm before them, they waited patiently with their bows nocked and drawn. Beyond the white curtain, the low-toned roars of monstrous golems provided gruesome harmony against the desperate cries of the fleeing, wounded, and slain soldiers manning the defensive’s front lines. As moments passed, that symphony of war encroached upon the second line.

Marcus himself stood at the back-center of the formation: a fifty-yard span of troops, set in gentle, concave arc against coming beasts. From his position in the form, Marcus’ view of the immediate area was as perfect as conditions could allow; the majority, if not entirety, of his unit was in his view on either side of him. His height, setting him at least a torso’s height above those around him, provided him a clear shot over the heads of those in front of. Though he’d have much preferred to be at the front, where he stood was ideal for the task at hand if he were to participate.

Without doubt, Marcus WAS to participate in the fire arrow attack on the snow golems. His own bow, larger than those of the others, was nocked and drawn as far back as anyone else’s; he was still to personally call the volley. “Hold your nerves in check,” he said to a younger soldier standing at his torso-side. “Relax, and breath with your shot. Remember: wait for my call.”

Another moment passed by, silent beyond the fear-inspiring song closing in.

Then, through the sleet and snow, the first cue for the volley came to view: the Imperial banners, clear enough for poor visibility, emerged into view as the remains of the front line scattered down into shallow trenches. “MAKE READY!” Marcus commanded, across the arc; some hundreds of archers braced for the recoil of their shots. In pursuit of their prey, the golems passed through the veil mere seconds later. The bait had worked, the beasts being unable to grasp that they were being lured out. “TAKE AIM.” In subtle movements, the archers adjusted their sight upon the golems. Both beasts continued their one-tracked movement, barreling down towards the entrenched soldiers immediately before them. “FIRE!”

The volley flew forth; hundreds of arrows streaked across the battlefield, passing through the lit torches. Many landed squarely upon their marks. Small, burning skewers pierced into the thick, icy hides of the golems, both of which reeled back in pain, clearly aware that something harmful had beset upon them. Proving themselves intelligent enough to realize what had happened, both golems turned away from the entrenched troops, glaring towards the archers. Though evident signs of melting were evident in the dripping of water, neither of them seemed severely impacted, as though their damaged material had simply doused the flames.

The set once more on their charge, headlong through a second volley of arrows as they set to clash against Marcus’ position, knocking over torches as they proceeded.

“SCATTER FORMATION!” Marcus called. In an instant, the arc was dispersed, the archers then moving about the battlefield, hoping to some edge for their mobility against the monsters.

All of this to little avail, as the resilience of the monsters left them unscathed by the sparse fire of arrows.

Marcus himself moved to meet the beasts. Grabbing a lit torch along the way, he placed himself before both golems, garnering the attentions of both. “Stand down,” he ordered to his remaining archers. “Stand down. I’ll deal with these ones; grant me cover.” With a torch in one hand, and his shield in the other, Marcus engaged the golems at once.

He swung the torch across his front, first to the left, then to the right, as though it were just another sword. It blazed across the stomach of one beast, which responded in kind with a hammering strike from overhead. Meanwhile the second golem moved closer to the fray.

Handily blocking the blow from the first with his shield hand, Marcus then took a second sweep with the torch, this time across the front of the second golem; this pass cut a closer gap, and the residual heat from the torch left its mark in a melt across the waistline.

Such as this, the battle proceeded over the course of multiple bouts, until one golem saw the sense to knock the torch out of Marcus’ hand. It would land in the snow, snuffed out as the other golem slammed its massive foot upon it.

Still far from out of options, Marcus reached to his side. From its sheath at his waistline, Marcus drew his sword, still bearing the blood of the man he had slain earlier that morning. “I can see no conventional means of damage will be enough against you,” he said, to the likely speech-impaired golems. “But I am no conventional warrior.” He held his sword before him, the edge of the blade in front of his face bisecting the image perfectly. In a mini-torrent, the sword shimmered to life with a silvery aura, radiating his power, and, just as importantly, the heat that such energy could produce.

With an essence of his true ability, Marcus cut down on a diagonal, opening a spilling gash, upon the front of one golem. Turning slightly, he reversed the swipe, streaking across the other’s stomach to just the same effect…

The battle against the golems proved short-lived from that moment. Between a series of cuts and thrusts, and well timed stream of released energy, the snow golems fell.

In the wake of this battle, Marcus, sword sheathed, and brandishing his favored polearm, marched alone towards the shoreline, facing the invading ships. As if expecting his arrival, the storm seemed to withdraw, ceasing the howling winds, and lifting the fog and snowfall at least long enough for him to speak: “May the Lord, King, or Chieftain of your armies be made to know that their sentinels have been felled in battle!” he called towards the enemy ships. “And that the commander of your adversary challenges them to reveal themselves in single combat; lest they be branded fearful, or weak by their refusal!”

"I belong to no one. Not my father and less to you!"

Lilith's punch may have missed, but her words struck a nerve. With Jaxx's rage peaking like it currently was, she was bound to make more mistakes in combat, which could give Lilith the edge... until Jaxx's next words rang through her ears.

"While I've been out on battlefields protecting MY people, you continued to sit in your damn cell and TALK of peace. And criticize the decisions of your betters. So don't ever again delude yourself into thinking you understand what I do for this country. Or that I want anything to do with your pathetic heart."

Lilith's own anger flared as her enemy dared to claim herself and Atticus as her betters, when for years she laid locked away, not having a chance to do good for the world, not able to fulfill her dreams. "You think I wanted to be locked away?! You think I was happy in a cell, Jaxx?! I understand that the only good thing you've done for this country is let me go, and if you insist on getting in my way, then this pathetic heart of mine will care little when you're dead!"

As Jaxx appeared next to her, Lilith slammed her bisento into the ground beside her, and lifted two glowing fists to put an end to this fight. Allowing her anger to fuel her powers, the glow intensified and as Jaxx lifted her sword, the two attacks clashed and what followed was an explosion that leveled the area around them, but when the dust settled, both Lilith and Jaxx, were gone.

Once Raven disappeared from his arms, Voltair stopped his descent. A platform formed beneath his feet to stop him and then vanished as he again freed himself from the planet's gravity. He watched the fights that went on beneath him. Kable gained some temporary control over his demon while he and Oryx fought Tess and Merrick. Lilith and Jaxx were closing themselves off to each other more and more as they screamed at each other. Paige was knocked out and not participating. Turning his focus back towards Jaxx and Lilith, Voltair thought back to before the fighting began; when one of his wolves marked Lilith. Listening to the rage in Jaxx's mind, Voltair knew what was going to happen momentarily. Now was as good a chance as any.

Holding a finger up, three small balls of shadow formed and floated at his finger tip. They all shot off towards their targets; Jaxx, Merrick, and Tess. Each ball hit reached their target, momentarily leaving a dark mark before fading away. All three of these shadows could not be felt, thereby preventing their targets from realizing what happened.

Jaxx's and Lilith's powers were boiling from their rage. Something unintentional was going to happen. Jumping off of his platform, Voltair finally reached the ground. He landed near Paige, picked her up, and jumped back into the air, narrowly escaping the blast radius of Jaxx and Lilith.

Voltair looked back at the damage. "Y'know, I could've looked so much cooler shielding her from the blast. But my record of damage has already been marred by Raven. I shouldn't let Jaxx get an ego boost from also marring it." He set Paige down a safe distance from the continuing battle. "How should I wake her? Dive into her mind? Use something simpler? I wonder..." Voltair pondered to himself.

Tess and Merrick had been taken by surprise the wall suddenly forming between them. Tess was again surprised as Kable reached her and slammed her into the wall. His powers were impressive. She waited there watching as the mercenary kept her pinned feet dangling in the air. Her armour had stopped any serious damage occurring but the force of Kable’s hit had caused her head to jerk back and smack against the newly formed wall. She waited until the black spots faded from her vision. Had he been able to see her face he would have seen her smiling. She brought her legs up, her knees at her chest, feet on Kable’s.

Merrick frowned at the newly formed iron wall that separated him from Tess. “Bloody mercenary has more tricks that we thought” He wasn’t overly worried about his sister. She was more than capable. Besides, he had an armoured bear to keep him occupied. “Just you and m…” Merrick was cut short by a wave of fire flowing towards him followed by the big man himself. Merrick set his daggers and ran forward to meet his opponent.

Tess pushed with her legs using the iron wall behind her to give her leverage. She shoved hard forcing Kable to release his grip on her. She picked herself up alone with the scythe, ran two steps and jumped throwing herself scythe first at Kable.

Merrick jumped meeting Oryx’s attack with his own laughing maliciously as the two neared each other.

The assassins found themselves been thrown through the air from the force of some explosion. Both landed ungracefully hard and rolled weapons forgotten in the dirt. When Merrick came to a stop he sat up disorientated from the blast. His ears were ringing and his vision blurry. He muttered some foreign words and in a blue flash his armour was gone. He sat with his head between his legs blinking his vision clear. He felt that familiar tingling sensation in the back of his skull and Tess approached him from his right. She muttered some words he didn’t hear and her armour disappeared.

“.err..k, .o. ok?” She was saying something to him. “Merrick, you ok?” he felt her hand on his shoulder. “Yeah, you?” “Fine” She responded sitting down beside him. “The wall took most of the blast” “Lucky you” he smiled at her. “What in the name of the Gods was that Merrick?” He shrugged in response. “Wasn’t us. Jaxx maybe or the giantess”

The dust was settling the two assassins saw the others. “No sign of them” Merrick noted. “Hopefully they’ve killed each other”

The two shared a smile as they sat there waiting. With Jaxx and Lilith gone there was no reason for them to fight. The Emperor wouldn’t be happy. But damn him, the assassins and worked at their contract. Not every job goes smoothly.

“Should we go?” Merrick said to Tess standing up and offering her his hand.

“About bloody time” She said letting him pick her up to her feet. “Let’s go”

Kable held Tess high up against the wall, fully set to end this fight right then. The voices in his head had started arguing on how to proceed. Kill the girl, don't kill the girl. Kable could feel the darkness beginning to sprout, the ability to control it fading. He could kill Tess here and now, leaving the two of the to face off against Merrick. Then Jaxx, daughter of the Emperor or not, would be crushed. Then who would be able to stop them?

Kable was too drawn into his thoughts to notice Tess lift her legs up and violently shove him away. His grip slipped off and Kable tumbled away. He shook his head clear and reformed his sword as Tess picked up her scythe. They both charged each other, their blades eager to continue the bloodshed. And then...

Explosions. Something big blew them all away. Kable felt an aura of white hot fury engulf him and he lost his sword. He smacked hard into the ground a couple times and lay there, stunned by what happened. After a couple minutes, Kable raised himself into a sitting position and took notice of what happened.

There was a crater of dirt where Lilith and Jaxx had been. Kable took note of Tess and Merrick standing off to the side together, their interest in the group already subsided. Good riddance. Kable thought happily, slowly bringing himself to his feet. The battle was, for all intents and purposes, concluded. The only problem now was where the princesses disappeared off to.

"Just what the hell was that?" Kable questioned aloud, picking up his weapon. The iron in the sword had retreated for now, as had the powers the Kable briefly controlled. For the time being, Kable was human. And he was surprised to feel a twing of disappointment. He had taken on two demigods and held his own ground.

Kable sheathed his sword and turned back to the others. "Someone better have a damn good explanation for this."

Lucius remained quiet as Finnan approached him. They both stood silently facing each other. Finally, it was Lucius that broke the silence. "I can give much respect to a man who is of few words. That will not save you, however." Lucius pulled his head back and violently headbutted Finnan. His vision swam, but he reached forward and managed to grab an arm.

"No one butchers my men like that." Lucius spoke out, swinging Finnan and chucking him straight into the nearest tree. Lucius raised himself up and drew breath in.

"My men will not be intimidated by likes of you bloody barbarians! We would rather die than see your kind running a muck on our land!"

Raven could tell the moment she appeared there was a different feeling in the air. Anyone who paid attention would probably also be able to feel the energy that was gathering in the area, but it felt familiar to Raven. She had seen this before, Jaxx was gathering a very particular kind of energy. And with her temper, Raven wasn't sure if she would be able to control it. Something would have to be done to bring her down. But it was too late, she noticed Voltair move Paige out of the way as Raven herself cursed and put up another barrier around Lilith and Jaxx. It wouldn't be enough to stop the blast, but it might lessen it enough to reduce the damage. At the same moment that her shield was up, the bolt struck Jaxx, and Lilith through their contact. The result was a strange combination of the two girls abilities. The ground shook and the spark exploded leaving a hole in the ground where they had been fighting and knocking everything else over around the area.

Raven was knocked over by the force of the blast but not enough to cause her any major damage. She stood up, noticing a spot on her clothes just above her knee that had torn. She used magic to quickly mend it, concealing any injury that it would have revealed. When she stood back up, she could see some of the others had taken more of the blast. Particularly Merrick and Oryx, who had not been protected by Kable's iron wall. To her side, she also noted Voltair had returned to the ground with his other companion lying unconscious in front of him.

In response to the question, she suspected was on everyone's minds, though only Kable addressed, she spoke. "We let two adolescent demigods take their insecurities out on each other. What did you expect would happen?" she walked over to Voltair and Paige, she knelt down next to the unconscious Paige opposite of Voltair. It only took a brief look over Paige to see the head injury. A small amount of blood indicated where it was, and it's seriousness. Though Raven concluded it wasn't incurable. She placed a hand over Paige's injury and there was a faint glow between where she rested her hand and the injury. When Raven removed her hand, the wound had healed. "Your friend will live. I can't say she won't have a wicked headache when she wakes." She stood up once again addressing the group as a whole.

"I've seen this before. That blast was a product of Jaxx's power. She has discovered a way to use her power to transport herself by transforming her body into the static she controls. Although I admit I never thought she'd be stupid enough to try to use it on another person. I can only assume it was an accident, and that both of them are alive somewhere." she watched the lingering storm clouds carry East over the mountain pass before fading away. "As for where they'll end landing, I'd say somewhere far east judging by the clouds. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess."

    --------------------------------------------------

Just as Lucius and Finnan's swords locked, there was suddenly a loud crash and flash of bright light as lightning struck out of the blue directly in between the two armies. The blast threw soldiers of both sides back violently and kicked up dust that irritated eyes and lungs. Before the dust had even cleared, another bolt struck in a different spot and then a third, this one directly inside the city walls.

Jaxx was stunned, the wind completely knocked from her lungs. She felt like she had just sprinted around the whole capital city with a boulder strapped to her back. Her whole body was sore and slow. She coughed against the dust that filled her lungs and stung her eyes as she looked around trying to determine her surroundings through the blinding dirty air. It didn't take long for her to notice Lilith lying unconscious just next to her as she stood up. The giantess was in a bad way with numerous jagged cuts and bruises that covered her visible skin. There was a wall of soil all around her suggesting that her landing had created a fairly big explosion. She moved forward to check if Lilith was still breathing, having not yet noticed her exact location.

"Seize both of them!" she suddenly heard a gruff voice bark. Jaxx was so startled she instantly wheeled around toward the source of the voice and reached for her weapon before realizing it was not there. The massive silhouettes of multiple barbaric soldiers came to view through the settling dust as Jaxx was charged at from all directions. Without hesitation, Jaxx pulled a knife out of her boot and lashed out, catching one of them at the base of the side of his neck. There was a sick squishing noise that told Jaxx she had hit her mark as her target roared. She felt something hit the side of her head hard, her vision blacked out for a moment as she was thrown against the side of the dirt wall from the blow. The handle of her knife was made slippery from the blood and she had to grip it tightly as she rocked back to her feet and lashed out once again with a determined scream. She had finally managed to stop Lilith. She wasn't about to lose her chance to a bunch of foreign bandits.

She managed to sink her blade in between the ribs of yet another soldier before she was knocked down again. Her face was pressed into the dirt as one of the enemies pressed a knee into her back. She growled, throwing her knife back into his other leg. She heard him grunt before catching her hand and twisting it back until she was forced to let go of her weapon. She felt a hand press her head down as her arms were pinned behind her back. She saw a few men pick Lilith's body up, "Don't touch her!" she shouted, coughing dirt out of her lungs. She fought fiercely as she was forced to her feet. She was pushed fowrard with her arms still pinned back by someone much bigger than her. She tried to use her powers but found it impossible to generate even so much of a spark due the weakened state she was left in. Finally, she noticed a person just in front of her, eying a mark on her armor. The person was much bigger than Jaxx, though Jaxx guessed he was probably around 9 ft tall. Much bigger than the average Azureth warrior and dressed much differently. "This is a pretty mark." he commented, reaching forward and tracing the symbol with his finger. Jaxx jerked at his touch and suddenly kicked him in the gut using the leverage of the man holding her to force greater impact. The result was Jaxx being struck again and forced to her knees, "Such a weak fight, though..." the stranger laughed, barely winded from the kick. "Is that the best to be expected from the Darrem line, Emperor's child?" he took hold of her hair, getting very close to her face. Jaxx could smell the ale in his words "Try that again, I will make you curse your insect father for bringing you into this world. Do you understand?" he let go roughly before standing back to his full height. "You are now under the hospitality of our new King, Finnan Loch! Careful to not try his patience, he is much less friendly than I."

Whomever the man was, he looked to the man next to him, "Make haste and tell Loch of the opportunity that has just fallen into our laps. We may yet force back these dogs." the man nodded and quickly ran for the city gates, "Quickly, lad!" the man barked "Before he makes a martyer of the Imperial arse of a general."

Kable huffed at Raven. His anger was slow to die out, the adrenaline in his body slowly feeding it. "We didn't ask for the thunder goddess herself to come crashing down on our parade, did we?"

Kable sighed and plopped himself beside Oryx, who seemed like he was still running on adrenaline himself. The group remained quiet for a minute, then Kable looked up. "Raven, just what is going on here? Whose side are you on? And Voltair," Kable glanced over to the immortal being who never seemed quite there. "How were they even able to get by you? They came from the direction we left you in. I swear, if you had anything to do with Paige getting hurt..."

Kable stopped himself, briefly surprised. Lilith was gone from the group, disappearing with a literal flash and bang, and yet Kable's first concern was the unconscious woman in front of him. Shaking his thoughts off, Kable once again faced to Raven.

"So, both princesses are gone to the east, you say? How would you propose we get them back?"

"I've already told you my perspective, Kable. I am on no one's side." Raven spoke to her 'enemy' in a rather familiar tone in spite of the circumstances.
"You'll have to forgive your companion. It was not his intention to let this happen, as I'm sure you understand. He was simply no match for me." she rolled her eyes, choosing to keep their actual conversation to herself in place of a sarcastic comment. "I had hoped things wouldn't get so carried away before I could catch up... Although I must admit I underestimated Jaxx's resolve to catch Lilith, regardless of the consequences to those around her. It's my fault." Raven answered Kable's question to Voltair almost instinctively.

As Kable spoke, a small sphere of light formed just in front of Raven's chest. She brought up a flattened palm beneath it. It hovered over her palm as she brought it up to eye level and then kept rising. When it had reached just above her head it sped away toward the East although it didn't get far before it flew right back to Raven and faded away. She pursed her lips, shifting her weight to one hip. Clearly, the reaction of the sphere was not what she had intended. "Well, my original thought was through tracking. Unfortunately, it would seem Jaxx is too far away for my usual methods to work. If anyone among you has a more efficient tracking ability, now would be the time to suggest it."

Raven's first instincts told her to walk away in that moment. She also knew Merrick, or at very least Tess, would be of the same opinion. She couldn't blame them though she wondered if the knowledge of Jaxx being alive, and their contract not being void, would hinder their decision at all.
However, she also knew that at least for now Lilith's companions priority would be Lilith. Without her or Jaxx, there wasn't any real reason for either side to keep fighting. Rationally, she would be foolish to not at least see if anyone had a decent way of finding out where they were.

"Somebody's gonna be a martyr... Or at the very least the cause of these barbarians establishing a permanent foothold here and eventually taking control of all of Aezureth." A voice echoed in Jaxx's mind, taunting her. "Unless, of course, you partner up with Lilith. The two of you together may perhaps get you out of the situation you got into. I suppose I could berate you for being such an emotional little girl to wind up here, but that's in the past now. What matters is you two getting to somewhere safe. I suppose I'll have to guide the two of you to freedom when you're both ready."

"Thanks sweetie." Voltair smiled as Raven healed Paige. He got up and listened to Kable fume on in anger. Paige was more of a sensitive topic than Kable would like to admit.

"I was no match for you? Not quite how I remember it. I suppose I'll have to have another round at you to settle this." Voltair replied to Raven, his voice carrying a bit of a flirtatious tone to it at the end.

Hearing Raven ask about how to find the pair of princesses, Voltair pondered on how to let the group know where to go. "Isn't it obvious where they went? Based on the angle of departure from Jaxx's little light show, the direction of the wind, the position of the sun, the current stellar map, and the food Emperor Atticus ate today, Jaxx and Lilith landed some place where they shouldn't be. Either Barisor, Carmila Sar, or somewhere far beyond the ocean." Given Voltair included certain details that he didn't witness, such as the angle from the ground Jaxx's lightning was and whatever food Atticus ate, it was hopefully going to be fun to see the group's reaction to his inane ramblings.

"Well, regardless of where they landed, there is a mountain range to be crossed either way. So all that's left to decide on before going is whether or not you wish to join us Raven. Now, assuming you can't bear to be apart from me for too long or you are oddly addicted to keeping your ward safe, do you wish I go grab those two assassin friends of yours? Also should we wait for your other traveling companions or leave them behind entirely?"

Gerik and Claire both saw the flash from Jaxx's powers. Even a few hills behind the action it was still quite bright. "Huh... That's... Probably not a good sign."

"Do you think Jaxx is okay?"

"I'm... sure she's fine. She's got Raven there with her after all. I'm sure she just... I'm sure she just exerted herself a bit too much accidentally. What about you?"

    "What about me?"

"How are you feeling after hearing those loud bursts? I'm certain you don't want to see people fighting."

"I don't like it. But that's why you're here right? To protect me."

"Indeed." Gerik replied with a chuckle. "Well we're almost there. Let's hurry."
