"One weak soldier, two weak soldier, three weak soldier, four..." Caitlin counted to herself delightedly, turning her head from soldier to soldier. This was going to be fun.

"Drop your weapons immediately!" one soldier ordered. Soon, Caitlin was surrounded by much more than four soldiers, all aiming rifles at her. They took small steps toward her, guns held firmly. Caitlin frowned. This made them a lot harder to count.

"Five rude soldier, six rude soldier..." She muttered to herself as the soldiers neared her. Then, one soldier gave the order to kill her. Deciding she was bored of counting, Caitlin, in the blink of an eye, jabbed the air in front of her. The attack was projected to the soldier five feet away from her, who clutched his stomach in pain and fell to the ground. The next instant, she jumped over the dead soldier so that she was no longer surrounded. Using the moment of confusion the soldiers gave her, she closed her eyes and inhaled and exhaled. Suddenly, she could feel huge amounts of adrenaline coursing through her as she charged her body with energy.

In a split second, four more soldiers fell as Caitlin sliced a dagger through the empty space between her and the soldiers. "H-How is she... The knife didn't even touch the-" one soldier started to say before he too fell. One by one, each of the soldiers fell until there were only ten remaining.

"I see my aim's as good as ever," Caitlin grinned whilst killing six of the remaining soldiers. "One doomed soldier, two doomed soldier, three doomed soldier, four... There. You're so much easier to count now!" Again, she aimed a dagger at one of the soldiers, but it seemed he'd figured her out because he side stepped and shot at her multiple times. A bullet skimmed her ear and drew blood, but she evaded the rest nimbly and stabbed the air, killing him.

There were three left. She killed two simultaneously with both of her daggers, then appeared behind the last one and backhanded him in the skull.

"The end. For now, at least. There are probably more inside, waiting to be killed," she said to herself. "Good thing there's no blood on my daggers. That's one of the convenient things about the way I fight. Although there is a hell of a lot on the ground. I'm gonna have to be careful where I step," she continued rambling whilst rubbing her knives against each other. Soon, more guards surrounded her and once again she was in battle, killing crowds of armed soldiers.

"Bring what you can, that's what we need," Zacsaid as he turned on the radio com on the Pelican,

"It's only going to be barely visible, like an airplane, plus its over the countryside tht were in, only farmsmen will take note really," Zac said as he pushed the button on the radio,

"This is Spartan Z-107, I have the two "other worlders" both of which have agreed to come and help us," Zac said, "Status, over?"

~"Roger, we are entering the atmosphere, preparing for you to board,"~

"Roger," Zac said as he switched to the channel for the pelicans, "Infinity's here, prepare for lift off," he said and gave the go to the pilot. The back door closed up and the three pelicans started up and lifted into the air as they hooked up the warthogs. The pilots checked the systems and then piloted the shipsinto the air.

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

    "You take too long."

A flamethrower spell bursted past Caitlin's head and towards the soldiers, setting a few on fire and making some retreat.

    "FIRE!"

    "I just love that word."

Some of the guards starts to shoot at the Fire Mage, only for him to take in a couple of hits to his metallic chest and forcing him to bring up a Fire Wall. Seraphin conjured up a larger ball in his hand and shot it towards a car, causing an explosion and making more of the enemies to retreat and regroup.

"Aborting your mission? That's a shame. What would your boss say? Oh I know."

The Fire Mage had two fire spheres in his hand and his eyes was shooting out sparks.

    "You're fired."

Seraphin shot the two orbs into the air and they exploded, causing a Fire Storm and was raining down on the army and on the entrance towards the city.

    "Now that is havoc Caitlin."

"This is going to be such a bore... somewhat."

The Ice Queen was sitting on her throne as she was watching Kurao fighting.

"*Sigh. Why do you gusy insist on fighitng up close? I can never understand. Oh well. Take cover."

Snaedis smiled as she created an ice shield over Kurao but all of a sudden, she heard a word most dreadful.

    "FIRE!"

A rocket was shot forth towards the Ice Queen and eventually, it smacked her throne of ice, exploding it and making her fly right off.

"Did you just say... fire? IMBECILES! RATS! CUNTS! I'LL SHATTER YOU!"

The Witch screamed as her eyes turned stone silver, sending out a gush of wind in every direction that made everyone in the room be blown away. She was in a fury, having everyone slowly having icicles emerging from their body.

    "Those eyes... I'm... petrified!"

    "I can't move either! Help..."

    "Try to move..."

Snaedis cocked her head to the side and with both her hands in the air, she snapped her fingers, shattering all of those within the area into small pieces of ice. Luckily for Kurao, Snaedis had an ice shield around him so that it can protect him from her spells. As a consequence, Snaedis was weary.

"*Sigh*... Let's get rid of this..."

The Ice Queen stood back up and pointed her left hand towards the city, shooting out a dark, sapphire beam at the barrier while Seraphin shot a blazing, ruby colored beam at the city. The barrier reacted towards thier power and each of them closed their eyes as small symbols were appearing near them. Their eyes changed colors, Snaedis to pure white and Seraphin to pure gold and the barrier shattered. However, The Ice Queen got tired and was kneeling down.

The ship the main group was in was leading the group towards the infinity. They flew through the skies and the clouds, up to the atmosphere to meet with infinity. In after of minutes, the infinity became more visible to the pilots and the passengers.

"Behold the UNSC's Infinity," Zac said as he showed them the infinity, "Cureently, in our universe at least, it is the largest space ship made by humanity, with many rooms, training areas, hangers, everything Spartans need to survive in space,"

The pelicans flew towards one of the docking bays and fly in. Inside the docking hanger, they were prepping for a temporary loss of air, and for the pelicans to land. The docking crew readied the bridges and also the cleaning crew readied, as well as the repair crew, incase any damage was made

The pelicans landed into the docking bay and the doors closed, sealing back in the air, with a huge thud, echoing throughout the giant room. The crew of the pelicans all came out, with the other vehicles and weapons, along with the wounded soldiers and the harmed civilian.

"Get them immediately to the medical wing, we were able to keep them warm but make sure they aren't diagnosed with any disease," Zac said,

"Yes sir!" The soldier said as he helped the harmed to te medical wing,

"Well, welcome aboard the UNSC Infinity," Zac said to the two,

As any resistance force, the group in SteamGear Town was on its guard. However unorganized and however outmatched by Exilus' forces, they had anticipated his arrival as an eventuality.

Glyde had surmised this much from personal experience, and knew that it would be inevitable that they would meet resistance upon reaching the town. It seemed that Exilus and the others had realized this as well though, at which Glyde was relieved to see, as it meant he wouldn't have to worry about not being informative. All there was for him to do at that point was put up a strong front and make a good first impression for the doubt-stricken generals he was fighting alongside.

So to start, he followed the gesture from Exilus and trailed behind him. Given the compressed terrain of their current battlefield, Standoff was his Keyblade of choice for the time being as it was best as an assault weapon. He kept his distance from the actual fighting, but provided cover fire, particularly for Exilus, who was receiving the bulk of the resistance flanking. From afar, Glyde managed to bring down the enemy marksmen in the back lines of the formation. About a dozen riflemen fell as a result.

"Take out the gunman!" Glyde heard someone call from the town's wall. Almost immediately he was rushed in sequence by a half dozen soldiers. He raised his Keyblade and fired at the one closest to him, felling him with ease. The second one went down by way of a vicious slash to the neck. Following the flow of his slash, Glyde thrusted forward piercing a third through a hole in his armor. Pulling back he delivering a hard elbow into the fourth's groin area; taking the opportunity he finished him off with a point-blank Fira spell.

The final two soldiers attacked him in tandem; or at least attempted to. One made to strike Glyde from behind, to which the Keybearer, alerted by a hapless and foolish battle cry, spun around and blocked a beam sword strike with a segment of a reflect spell. While the soldier recovered from the back lash, Glyde turned about and shot down the other. Returning to the last soldier, he placed a thrusting strike through his neck.

He then set his attention on the chaotic scene around him. Every which way there were resistance soldiers making attempts at sneak attacks and retreats. Glyde took these as opportunities to pick off stragglers and people trying to play hero, both sorts of which fell as easily as the others he had slain. As he finished off the last of the soldiers attacking, so too did his comrades. Around them, several dozen soldiers lay dead or dying upon he ground, soaking in their own blood. "Valiant warriors; little training. This is a resistance if I ever saw one."

On the other end of the portal, Vance entered into the back alley of a technologically advanced town. He didn't know where it was exactly, only that it was, according to the Grandmaster, somewhere in the Realm of Light. "Far be it from me to question the Grandmaster," he said. However, he was still a bit apprehensive of his mission, and unsure that he was the right one for it. He looked behind himself to the portal he had just stepped through. Hesitantly, he listed towards it, only for it to close before he could even begin to backtrack. "They must have closed it," he thought aloud. "Hopefully they know it worked. And hopefully I can actually find the person I'm supposed to."

He walked down the alley and out onto the lively streets of the town. It wasn't the good kind of lively though, which he actually saw as a good sign, considering his mission. There was no flock of civilians bustling towards the markets, or children playing about on the sidewalks as might have been expected in peacetime. In lieu of these were supply caravans rolling up and down the stone drives, and ragtag citizen-soldiers equipped with various guns and swords. Most of soldiers seemed to be headed in the same direction towards a large fortification near the center of the town. Others, however, seemed to be sprinting towards the gate on the south end; Vance could hear the gun shots signifying that a battle was already underway.

"Looks like I'm just in time for the action. Better find who I'm looking for before things get too serious."

    "Hey you!"

Vance looked across the street to see a soldier who had stopped to call him over. He looked at himself as well, realizing that with his armor on he did look like he was ready for battle (which he was of course). "Yeah?" He called back.

"Lady Elza has summoned everyone for a briefing. Looks like Lord Exilus has made his move earlier than she anticipated. We're falling in at the stronghold."

Elza must be the leader I'm supposed to meet with. I guess I'll follow this guy for now. He threw the man a quick nod and followed him towards the town center where the fortress stood. A large crowd of soldiers was already gathers there. Above them a young woman was poised on a raised platform preparing to address the lot.

  6. Ripping his hand from the depths of a soldier's chest, Exilus surveyed the battleground. It was utter chaos all around him, with small squads of steam-soldiers attacking, flanking, breaking up and regrouping. His Generals were putting on an incredible display. First Exilus looked to his General Kurao. The Pirate was showing no mercy to the soldiers, moving so fast that none could perceive him and slicing up the front lines. This made a nice dent in their forces as well as drew a good amount of attention toward the center of the battle.

A patter of footsteps resounded behind Exilus. He turned about to see a trio of blade-wielders coming at him. The first stepped forward with a battle cry and swiped vertically at Exilus. In response, Exilus whipped his Keyblade forward, slamming into the soldier's left arm and breaking it before the slash could be completed. The remaining two soldiers jumped at Exilus for a combined attack, but were shot out of the air due to Glyde’s cover fire. Exilus threw a nod back to Glyde as an informal thanks.

"Valiant warriors; little training. This is a resistance if I ever saw one."

"Ha... resistance," Exilus laughed. "These maggots aren't strong enough to be called a resistance. They are an infestation."

Returning to his observations, Exilus noted the masterful work of his General Caitlin. With the grace of a cat, she projected her energy and cut down droves of soldiers, causing Exilus to grin maliciously. His facial expression abruptly changed as he recoiled a bit from a nearby explosion, then turned to see a shower of icy crystals; apparently, Snaedis’s throne of ice had been blown up. Exilus watched as she used her freezing magic to slaughter all of the soldiers around her. Then, in a display of utter brilliance, Snaedis and Seraphin combined forces to punch through the barrier surrounding the town. A rush ran through Exilus. Before he rallied his men, he looked around, trying to spot Glyde.

Exilus spotted the Keybearer in the fray of battle, taking on some six soldiers at once using magic and impressive Keyblade maneuvers. Exilus watched as Glyde defeated them, one by one, without taking any damage. A worthy display, Exilus mused. With his final survey of the battlefield, most of the soldiers were dead or retreating, and the barrier was destroyed.

“Rush the gates!” Exilus bellowed loud enough for the whole battlefield to hear. In response, the soldiers formed into a multi-line blockade in front of the now blasted open entrance to Steamgear Town. Exilus again motioned for Glyde to follow him. Exilus put his hands outward, palms facing up, and began to channel dark energy through his body. A large pool of shade seeped into the ground around him, from which Shadow and Soldier Heartless were birthing themselves, about 30 total in a matter of a couple seconds. With this tide of darkness, Exilus rushed the lines of soldiers, letting his Heartless take the brunt of the laser fire. Exilus leapt into the air and came down onto a group of soldiers, slamming his Keyblade through an enemy’s chestplate and causing a burst of darkness as he landed. A small path cleared, growing slightly larger due to the Heartless picking at the soldiers. Exilus rushed through into the town.

Within the massive gates, Exilus stood witness to an enormous, industrial/urban landscape. Skyscrapers lined the streets, which were packed with wheel-less cars that looked capable of hovering. Maintenance drones flew throughout the area, screeching warnings of hostile takeover and pleading with townsfolk to get to safety. There was a noticeable bustle of soldiers and militia, many who seemed to be running toward the center of the town. Exilus once again turned to his Generals.

“Kurao, Snaedis, on those cannons! Caitlin, Seraphin, get to destroying!” Exilus shouted. He then turned to Glyde. “We must locate Elza’s base. My guess is the base lies wherever those troops are heading.” Exilus said as he pointed toward the center of Steamgear Town, walking as he talked.

    -------------------

Elza watched through her voluminous blond hair as many familiar faces began filling up the meeting room. Elza knew most of these faces well; after all, once Steamgear decided that it was going to stand up to the Syneptophy, Elza (or “Lady Elza,” as people began calling her) has been considered to be the ruler of Steamgear. It isn’t a position she took lightly. She took every step, every possible measure to make it so that they would have a fighting chance against the Syneptophy. That is why she had the capital building restructured, fortified, and made into a stronghold, and even though the reports from the front lines were incredibly grim, with countless casualties and only six enemy units, Elza still had a couple tricks up her sleeve. Seeing that the room was nearly packed at this point, Elza raised a hand, signaling the room to become quiet.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Elza began. Her voice was strong and determined.. “Today is the day we have prepared for. The Syneptophy is upon us, earlier than we expected. ‘Lord’ Exilus himself is here, tearing up our front lines. We've already lost many soldiers in the breach of our outer wall alone.” Elza let the silence ring for a moment. The tension in the room was thick; soldiers exchanged worried glances. Then, Elza slammed her fist onto the podium. “That piece of SCUM has taken the lives of our family! Our friends! This soulless wretch cares nothing for humanity. All he wants is power! Is that the kind of FILTH we want ruling our universe?!”

A dull hubbub of “no”s rang out from the crowd.

“Steamgear Town is our home! We’ve lived here all our lives! And I’ll be damned if I’m going to stand by and watch as some would-be marauders come and take it from us! I’m going to FIGHT!!”

Some clapping and several “yeah!”s resounded from the audience.

“Take up your lasblade! Ready your rifle! Today is the day we fight against tyranny, against cruelty, against the darkness! Today is the day we WIN!”

"No more cowering, wondering when the enemy will come knocking on our doors. They're here! Now are you gonna curl up and die, or are you gonna stand up and FIGHT BACK?! Who's with me?!"

The room broke out into cheers. Many of the soldiers were still scared, but Elza’s speech gave them hope.

“Alright everyone, listen to the commanding officers and form into three groups. Group A and Group B, you will get special briefing from me. Group C, you will act as the decoy. We need you to hit the Syneptophy and simply act as a roadblock to them. We will supply you with demolition charges as well as steamjets to allow you to set up obstacles and maneuver easier. Go! Now!” One-third of the soldiers hurried out of the meeting room toward the armory, while the rest stayed for Elza’s briefing.

While going over those that stayed, Elza noticed a man that she had never seen before. Given the size of Steamgear Town, that wasn't so much of an oddity, but coupled with the fact that the man was wearing armor unlike any made on this world, she had to question his presence.

“Excuse me,” Elza said firmly, trying to get the unknown man’s attention. “Who are you? You’re obviously not from Steamgear Town.”

Kurao took a pause once the battlefield was clear to activate a communicator. How he managed to get it out of his pockets and hold it in the palm of his still-gloved hands without cutting himself or his clothing is beyond this writer, but all the same he got it out and pressed a button.

"Jean? You know those ships that only have damaged masts? . . Yeah, forget about fixing them. Take everything you can out of them except the gunpowder, and put a timer on the whole thing - thirty minutes ought to- scratch that, make it fifteen. I don't want them to detonate after we've cleared the place. Hurry up and send them near my position. . . I don't know, set a jet dial or two so they keep moving! I want it to look like occupying ships so the heat is off me!"

With a flick of his palm, the comms device switched channels, to address his partner for this part of the mission.

"Oy, snae-girl. You take all cannons on the right side, and I'll take all the ones on the left. Split is down the middle from where we landed. You dig?"

The cheetah-man waited not for a response. Instead, he went straight for the first cannon on the left side, popping a small marble with a skull-and-crossbones (plus a red nose) painted on it into his hand, where he tossed it and caught it between the tip of two blades.

"Muggy-ball, don't fail me now!" He growled, lobbing it like a pitcher would. The tiny pellet sped towards the large cannon. Silence. And then. . .

    BOOM

The small pellet blew apart not only the cannon, but also the wall that it it rested on with fantastically powerful concussive force.

"Using an explosive used to level small villiages on ramshackle equipment is definitely the highlight of my day," Teri remarked, raising a had to block out the sun in his eyes.

The Infinity was quite impressive. A model of human ingenuity, it appeared to be. Marie was honestly impressed by the display.

"Wow. We only had NASA back where I came from, and you've got the freaking ultraship. I admit it, ya got me. I was not expecting something so cool," She complemented, exiting the Pelican and stretching her legs. "But anyways, let's hurry up, shall we? Worlds are a-burnin'!"

Zac lead the group into the briefing room, where the commander was,

"So Salvager, these are the "other worlders"? I hope they are of some use," the commander said as he didnt look up from his desk,

"Sir yes sir, these two are who they claim to be," Zac said as he was about to introduce them,

"I'm afraid introductions will have to wait, we have an assignment. Our intell has informed is of another world Currently being invaded by the threat. It appears to not be dying, yet, but we have to act fast,"

"What the world's name?" Zac asked,

"Wait wait wait, armor?" Marie asked, waving a dismissive hand. "I hope you've got something that can keep my backpack in close contact with my skin, because I can't connect with the storage ports through anything thick as or thicker than Kevlar. I know, I've tried."

While she said this, she fished out the teleportation device from her pocket, then slid it over to the commander.

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

The Ice Queen was staggering behind Kurao as she is trying to garner and replenish her strength. Not paying attention to him, she stood by one side of the cannos at the very end and sat down.

    "I must... chillax."

The Ice Queen lifted up her hand and a cold wind slowly moved one of the cannons around slowly. Fortunately, her favorite word popped up.

    "FREEZE!"

She turned around to see that there were more soldiers and had their rifles aimed and pointed at Snaedis.

    "Heh. I wish I can."

She clasped both of her hands and created an ice shield before the soldiers starts firing at her. She crawled behind the cannon that she turned around and was ready to ignite it.

    " Bada boom."

The Ice Queen flicked her wrist and made the end of the cannon explode, shooting one explosion at the group. While she was trying to focus, she conjured up a large ice ball and stuck it inside the cannon and shot it once more, this time, it encased some if the fighters in ice.

    "Splendid.... now..."

The Sorceress had the cannon facing toward the rest of them and shot a small, glimmering sparkle at the end of the cannon and snapped her two fingers.

    "DOMINO!"

The cannon she had shot out, hitting the cannon next to it and then the next and the one sitting next to it, starting a chain reaction. Sadly, the cannon she used shattered her ice shield and was destroyed, making her take cover in a corner.

"Come Caitlin," Seraphin called. Caitlin stopped killing soldiers at once and followed, eager to cause some real devastation.

"Good timing, Seraphin; the crowds were narrowing down and it was getting boring. Nice burning costume, by the way." As she was talking, she spotted a small but sturdy looking building with a roof which arched over it slightly. "May I conduct a small experiment?" she asked, though she didn't wait for an answer. She closed her eyes briefly and again adrenaline rushed through her body, making her physically stronger.

"Let's raise the roof!" she grinned and immediately, she performed an uppercut to the empty air in front of her, aiming to hit the overarching roof with her projected attack. The punch hit its mark and the roof was ripped off the building and launched through the air. A huge crash and a few screams rang through the air as the roof landed behind the building.

"This will be fun." Caitlin drawled. "You ready, Seraphin?"

"My NASA probably wasn't even as advanced as yours, either. We didn't even have anything to compare to all this where I came from." Tsubasa said, in awe of the Infinity. He probably sounded like a bewildered old man who hadn't ever laid eyes on modern technology, but he felt that way too.

"The standard MJOLNR armor can be used to context with armor abilities such as hard light shields, invisibility, and so on." Zac explained.

"Armor that can produce light shields?" Tsubasa murmured to himself. Now he resembled an excited child, he noted. "Oh! I can't wear armor that covers my arms at all, unless it's very light. I've tried sword fighting with heavy clothes on and it was almost impossible."

"It's really a connection thing - nothing to do with the FraGen - And what do you mean you don't know what NASA is? Oh, whatever, now watch."

Marie raised her hands almost meditatively, palms facing upwards. Her eyes glowed with silver, pulsating energy. The four ports on her backpack lit up, projecting an equally silver light onto the back of the room. Then, a tendril with a three fingered "hand" at the end sprouted from each port, hovering about like one of Doc Oc's mechanical limbs.

"Y'see, these ports allow my to access stored Aura energy. The closer the ports are to my core, the easier for it is for me to control it. It also depends on the makeup of the material in between me and the bag. Lead, obviously, would cancel my connection out," She explained, manipulating the arms so that they tossed her yoyo and barely caught it before it touched the ground.

Glyde continued along the path set down by his killing spree. Though at first he was only following orders, he was then stricken by the desire to keep up with his colleagues. He followed Exilus as he was commanded. Hastily, he swapped his weaponry, changing his Keyblade into what he suspected would be the more appropriate form. What had been Standoff was now the Soldier model of the Marksman Keyblade. With it, he would be able to clear a path from a greater distance, while also being able to efficiently deal with enemies up close with the bayonet at the end of the barrel. And given the structures that comprised the cityscape, he knew he'd have to take care of Elza, whoever she was, from a closer distance.

As they stormed the town, Glyde persisted in providing cover fire, taking particular care to make sure Exilus was well-guarded (not that one so powerful needed protection). The marksman's efforts were concentrated on the back lines and rooftops, from where the SteamGear soldiers were mounting a volley down upon his allied ranks. With two sweeps of rounds along the rooftops, Glyde cleared away the threat from above, prompting many of the soldiers in the back lines to pull back. In fact, he noticed, most of the soldiers of the town were falling back in the face of the assault. Glyde used this lull in the combat to catch up with Exilus.

"The stronghold is most likely somewhere near the town center," he said. "It'll be the most secure place here, large and fortified enough that it could be used to mount a substantial defensive, while also being able to offer access to an escape route. I'd wager they've of an exit strategy. However, this Elza woman... if she's the sort of leader I've come to understand as a rebellion leader, she won't allow herself to stay cooped up for long. She'll try to lash out personally. We can lure her out easily by pressing the attack and closing in on her stronghold. But we should be cautious; it's more than likely that they'll have an ambush waiting near their main fortifications.

"Speaking of ambushes." In light of his own speculations, Glyde made a quick glance around at the town and the alleyways around him and Exilus. On the side streets, he could see large, armored vehicles dispersing towards the other areas of the town. He could also hear the shouts of officers directing units towards the cannon batteries. "Tanks," Glyde said. "They've got tanks; they'll probably use them to compensate for the lack cannons. But I'm pretty sure those are the least of your generals' worries."

Vance accompanied the soldier into the town center, where he came across what he suspected was a city hall turned into a fortress. Upon the outside of the fortress, there were hundreds of people, most of them soldiers and others militia, tending to the keep and the armaments. Several engineers on the rooftops were making adjustments to a set of cannons mounted atop the stronghold and setting them to volley down onto the enemies when they arrived. Despite the distant roars of battle, the town center was surprisingly quiet. Save for those flocking into the fortress and those tending to the defenses, there were no others. The buildings around seemed to be abandoned, which seems suspicious. They must have something planned to not have gunners stationed on the roofs here.

He dismisses the thought though, and followed the crowd into the fort, and into a large meeting hall that gave off the rough reminiscence of a courtroom. At the center o the room, surrounded by the crowd of soldiers and citizen militia members, was a woman delivering fiery speeches from atop a podium. Her words were inspiring as any that Vance had ever heard, and she seemed to have the support of her troops. However, the fear in both her voice and the voices of the people listening to her when the responded was evident.

Knowing that the woman was Elza, and therefore the leader he was meant to meet with, Vance made his way to the front of the crowd. He jostled his way through the thick mobs of rallying soldiers until he got to the innermost circle of the group. It was at that moment that the woman's speech ended, and a share of the soldiers departed from the room to fulfill the mission they had been given. It was also in that moment that Vance found himself a center of attention. Elza pointed him out and addressed him openly before the crowds. Slightly embarrassed, Vance rushed up to and onto the podium.

He dropped his voice to a low whisper so that the only Elza would hear what he had to say. "I've come from... afar on the orders of my Masters" be explained. "They've foreseen the dangers of Exilus, and left me with the mission of rendezvousing with you. It'll sound crazy of me to say this, but you have to prepare your armies to evacuate this town. Get as many people out of here as possible." He waited only a second before continuing, not giving Elza a chance to question him. "I've been informed of a massive coalition forming. One that could use the troops you have here; one that's also planning on combating this Exilus guy and. I implore you to save the people and supplies you can and join me in joining with this other coalition.

  15. As Exilus walked, the ground would shudder from time to time and powerful explosions would sound in the distance. Exilus knew these to be the sounds of his Generals taking down the cannons; one, two, three, four, he counted. Good, two thirds of the way done, Exilus noted. Exilus looked around as he walked, noting an silence that he didn't enjoy. They had known he would come. The town was evacuated. Exilus's face twisted into a terrifying frown when he realized the screams of innocents would not be heard on this day. Utterly disappointing.

"The stronghold is most likely somewhere near the town center, It'll be the most secure place here, large and fortified enough that it could be used to mount a substantial defensive, while also being able to offer access to an escape route. But we should be cautious; it's more than likely that they'll have an ambush waiting near their main fortifications."

    "Speaking of ambushes."

Exilus looked to the side and noticed what Glyde saw. It made Exilus chuckle a bit.

"Tanks. They've got tanks; they'll probably use them to compensate for the lack cannons. But I'm pretty sure those are the least of your generals' worries."

"You need not worry about my Generals," Exilus grunted. "They are more than capable of disposing of some armored artillery. As for Elza and the stronghold, that is a reasonable analysis. It is important that we do not allow these rebels to escape; like roaches, they will just breed elsewhere until we face another infestation. We must exterminate these vermin, here and-"

A loud explosion interrupted Exilus. The base of a large building about a block ahead, on the right, began to suffer a series of explosions, causing it's entire mass to barrel down toward the street that Exilus and Glyde stood on. Exilus quickly turned, tackled Glyde, and before they hit the ground, let out a powerful blast of darkness that shot them out of the building's path. They flew down the street at great speeds until they finally met with the asphalt, Exilus tumbling several times before catching and righting himself. Then, the building hit the ground, with an enormous, resounding slam, shaking the street like a violent earthquake. Disoriented, Exilus waited a moment for his hearing and senses to some back. Not actually hurt, Exilus remarked as he stood up. But that was a hell of a ride. Exilus looked around to try and see Glyde, but the immense amount of smoke, dust and debris in the air made it impossible to see more than a couple feet in front of him. Heh, if only I had taken the time to learn that damn Aero spell...

Just then, a laser bolt interrupted Exilus's thoughts, followed by several more in rapid succession. They seemed to be coming from above him based on their angle of trajectory. One hit his armor, then two, causing him to cry in pain and grasp his shoulder. He quickly rolled out of the way of the last shots and threw his Keyblade upward, turning it into a Glider.

"Savian! If you can hear me, I'm going up!" Exilus yelled. "Try to clear this damn smoke!" The Keyblade came back down in front of Exilus in the form of a sleek red-black Glider. He quickly hopped on and sped forward, avoiding the second volley of laser fire. Pulling back on the handles, Exilus went into a steep ascent in order to clear the smoke. He flew up, higher and higher, until he broke the cloud of dust and could once again fill his lungs with clear, sweet air.

Exilus quickly righted himself so that he was parallel to the ground and looked around, assessing the situation. The first thing he noticed was the state of the city below him; directly below laid a fallen building, but off to the edges of the city were enormous pillars of black smoke, indicating the four cannons' destruction. Best of all, Exilus could see what he believed to be the stronghold they were looking for. Last but not least, Exilus saw his assailants floating around in the air a fair distance away from him; they bobbed up and down on odd steam-contraptions, allowing them to fly in a clumsy fashion. It was nearly enough to make Exilus laugh, before they started firing their lasers again.

Exilus sped toward the group, dodging and spinning to avoid the barrage of fire. Several licks of light slammed into his Glider during an erroneous dodge, causing him to barrel to the left. Luckily, the actual damage was minimal, but the hit had allowed the jetsoldiers to move into a superior position. As they prepared for their next volley, Exilus righted himself and threw both of his hands outward. They immediately swelled with magical energy, his hands first erupting in fire and then exploding in a shower of sparks. With a growl and a sound of a thunder strike, two bolts of flaming lightning shot outward and immediately connected with two of the jetsoldiers. One of the bolts struck the soldier's steampack, causing it to malfunction and the soldier to plummet to their death. The other shot directly through the soldier, killing them before they even fell.

Having punched a small hole in the jetsoldiers' formation, Exilus sped through it, performing horizontal spins to dodge flurries of laser fire. He used his superior maneuverability to stay in a superior position to them, and waited until he could line up another clean kill.

"I've come from... afar on the orders of my Masters. They've foreseen the dangers of Exilus, and left me with the mission of rendezvousing with you. It'll sound crazy of me to say this, but you have to prepare your armies to evacuate this town. Get as many people out of here as possible." One that could use the troops you have here; one that's also planning on combating this Exilus guy and. I implore you to save the people and supplies you can and join me in joining with this other coalition."

"I was hoping for a name," Elza said, sighing impatiently. "It doesn't sound crazy at all, in fact, evacuation was the plan from the start. All of the townsfolk are already down in the tunnel network beneath the city; impenetrable except by the deadliest of weapons and nigh undetectable. They're waiting until either the Syneptophy kill us all or we successfully launch the S.G.S Basandre." Elza stopped speaking and stared at the unknown man for a moment.

"Normally I wouldn't say any of this to someone I didn't know. You could be a Syneptophy spy, after all. But at this point, it really doesn't matter. The jetsoldiers have made contact, the tanks are deployed and preparations for launch are over 50% complete." Elza paused again shook her head, realizing she was still giving away important information to a stranger. "So, Mr. No-name, I assume you have combat experience? I don't see any weapons on you... you're not some kind of martial artist are you? Our laser weapons are barely damaging them, don't think you can punch them to death."

"Elza, preparations are ready," one of the officers called out to her. "Permission to fire up the 01's?"

"Permission granted," Elza said firmly, looking at her officer. "But don't over do it. The suits are basically overkill at this point. If you go out there and you see the tanks and jetties doing fine, come back and load into Basandre."

"Yes ma'am," the officer answered with a salute. Elza turned back to the unknown man and continued talking without waiting for him to respond.

"How much tech does your world have? Have you ever used a Steampack or a 01 suit?"

Teri's course of action brought him to the second target with immediacy in his step. He saw plumes of smoke coming from the other cannons, which rather disappointed him.

"Aw, bummer. I was hoping to finish first," He sighed, flinging another Muggy Ball. The second cannon (and attatched wall) went flying towards the town, causing a fair amount of collateral damage on the way. He didn't stick around to admire his work because the Hyper Ball was running out of juice. By the time he reached the third target, another loud explosion ensued - this time inside of town. The cheetah-man threw the final Muggy Ball and ran to the top of the cannon ahead of it, expending the last of his Hyper Ball's power.

"Hope that was one of their-" he began, but was unfortunately cut off by the cannon exploding underneath and launching him into the town on a large shard of metal.

    "Form shift - Strength!"

The cry went through the air, causing Teri to shift from cheetah to lion for the landing. His flight seemed to take him straight into one of the lesser-assaulted areas just as several portals opened up overhead, releasing the ships he had asked for moments ago. They were all headed for the stronghold.

"AwRIGHT!" He snarled, bracing for landing. The shard impacted at a soft angle, allowing him to turn his landing into a roll. The area, for the most part, was less staffed than every other district - for whatever reason - so no reason to waste another Hyper Ball. Nobody was expecting a 250 lb anthropomorphic lion to come crashing down on a metal shard like it was a surfboard and then roll off it like he was Sonic the Hedgehog, only to come out into a pounce ready to make somebody's day turn sour. Nobody expected that. Certainly not the soldiers that were just a few yards away from the landing point.

Then, Kurao found the reason the district was so empty. To make room for the tanks.

"I've lifted ships before, if they thi-" he began to cockily declare. A large shell flew past him and exploded in the street nearby. He propped open his commicator, staring down the machine with a "DO NOT WANT" face.

"Uh, admiral, I'm going to be a little late rejoining you. But take note of the ships overhead - they're loaded with explosives and headed for the stronghold."

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

    "Hmph."

Seraphin decided to walk inside a bank to create terror but a few seconds later, he was ricochet backwards by a blast. A few soldiers with rocket launchers came out and was ready to their sights on Caitlin.

    "..."

Seraphin came back into the battlefield with his chestplate severely cracked, setting both of his fisst set aflamed as the soldiers were shooting rockets at the two of them. He starts shooting many fire balls and flamethrowers at the rockets, exploding them so that it won't hit the two of them.

    "You're the bomb."

Seraphin lifted up both of his hands up to take the fiery explosion that was create din the air and surrounded the soldiers.

    "Embrace the burning painof eternity..."

The Fire Mage clasped both of his hands togehter and engulfed the rocket launching soldiers, leaving nothing to show their existence. he then turned around and shot out an orange blast, creating a portal as he was determined to finish the task faster.

"Entertain yourself Caitlin. I'll take care of this end."

Many fiery imps jumped out and was awaiting orders by their leader.

Snaedis was crawling to find out how to regain her powers and as she was looking over the walls as her side was crumbling down, she saw a lake. She turned around to see that the walls will soon fall but she cared not. Standing, she fell along with the walls as it was crumbling, falling into the pond and wasn't seen at all.

"Right," Caitlin replied to Seraphin, slicing an incoming rocket with a dagger. It exploded in midair, missing her entirely. She sidestepped another, narrowly evading it. Before another rocket could be launched, she thrust a dagger into midair and one of the rocket launching soldiers fell immediately.

"Okay, so admittedly you're stronger than the ones who were guarding the gate," she said in between swift dodges, sidesteps and slices, "This is a lot more fun!" She rushed forward and drove two knives into the air, killing yet another soldier. Only a few left. She picked up a pebble on the ground, a huge grin spread across her face. One fired once again, but as soon as the rocket was launched, Caitlin threw the pebble at it and it exploded, killing the soldier and the four others standing near him.

"That was tiring," she muttered to herself, using the current absence of soldiers on her side to think and catch her breath. "I wonder where those heroes I saw earlier are. They'll probably be here soon, considering the mess we've made in this world." As she was mumbling, she caught sight of a tank. "It's been a while since I've seen one of those," she said and began following the tank at a distance. "Let's see where this thing thinks it's going..."

"The armor is now designed to be more flexible, but I still prefer the older models because of the abilities that weren't passed on the newer models," Zac said,

"Still... You need some form of protection guys," Zac said, "You don't know what the hell you guys are gonna be facing. It would be a good idea to have some means to defend yourselves, unless your Aura can create a shield thick enough. But lets just head to the training room to see your skills,"

"My aura's got passive protection to a small degree, but I've done a constant barrier before. A bit draining, though," Marie said, retracting the energy-limbs and pocketing her yoyo. "But flexibility and connectivity aren't the same things. Anyways, lead the way!"

The gymnast waved an arm, gesturing for the Spartan to do just that.
