Hogwarts Glory Days

Chloe looked at April as she frowned and shook her head.

"I have flying class later." April said shrugging, "I'm game to come to watch."

"I may need to come too, try to figure out what we're up against for our game next month game." Chloe said.

"Oh! That's right it's Griffindor vs. Hufflepuff, this Saturday. I bet it'll be a good match." as a student sitting nearby spoke up.

"Definitely." Chloe said looking towards Apollo.

"Welcome to the first Quidditch game of the year! For today's match, it'll be Griffindor versus Hufflepuff!" An announcer cheered.

"Let's go Hufflepuff!" Chloe sat next to April as she exclaimed. She smiled at the girl, slowly she has begun to come out of her shell.

"The quaffle is in the air, and the game begins!"

"Go!" Chloe shouted with April and other Ravenclaws.

"Griffindor has a new set of chasers, they're pretty fast from what I saw at their practice."

"Well, then suppose I have to pay attention to this for when we face them next week." Chloe said watching as the chasers passed the quaffle around.

 

The match wasn't looking good as April sat with her fingers crossed. Still cheering for Hufflepuff though, Chloe had a good sense of who would come up on top, based on their performance from last year.

As Chloe sat there that's when she saw somebody in the tower stairwell. She looked at April watching the game intensely as she moved away from her reaching into her cloak she began to pull out her wand.

The figure not even paying attention to their spotter appeared to be studying the structure of the Quidditch pitch.

This figure was mysterious, his clothes appeared more like rags all ripped up just barely clinging to his body, his hair long and a wild mess.

"Apollo!" April screamed causing Chloe to look away onto the quidditch match to watch Apollo fall about 25ft off of his broom. A hit to the abdomen caused by a bludger. When Chloe turned back around though, the man was gone.

Chloe watched as some professors, ran out on to the field to check on Apollo. When April came running towards her.

"April, where you going?"

"To go see Apollo."

"We can't go onto the lawn. He'll probably be taken to the hospital wing. Come on." Chloe said leading the first year student out. As they descended the stairs to head out and back to Hogwarts main building. She stopped as she looked towards the Forbidden Forest seeing a ripped up cloak blowing in the wind alongside the figure she saw earlier staring back at the pitch.

"Chloe, come on!" April exclaimed pulling her attention away as she nodded and decided to follow Chloe to the hospital wing to meet Apollo there.

 

"Apollo!" April ran into the infirmary followed by Chloe walking behind as Pomona Sprout, head of Hufflepuff, stood by the side of the bed as well as Professor Dumbledore.

"Is he ok?" Chloe asked next as she walked in.

"He will be, but Miss. York, I never would expect you to be here. I didn't know you knew Mr. Vance." Professor Sprout spoke.

"Well, his little sister is in my house and well we're sort of a growing friendship with that, but what's wrong exactly?" Chloe said wanting to get off the discussion on how she knew Apollo.

"Well he has two cracked ribs. He'll be fine, I have a potion that will act fast and heal the bones, but he'll need to stay here overnight."

"Overnight?" Chloe and April asked confused.

 

April looked at Chloe and then at his brother. Chloe looked at Apollo seeing him struggle.

"Your sister will be fine, Apollo, she's been doing quite good so far. She's very smart you know. As for your mates and the team, I'm sure they'll be fine for one day and some will probably be here soon anyways." Chloe spoke up.

"Plus I did my weekend homework yesterday, I'll be fine Apollo!" April jumped into.

"Based on the advise from Miss. York, I think you will be fine. And knowing that she does not have prefect duties tonight, I would be fine with allowing to keep you some company for the night." Professor Dumbledore spoke as Chloe looked at him surprised.

"Keeping him company, sir?" Chloe was confused as Professor Dumbledore smiled as if he knew something nobody else did.

"I'm sure with Apollo's infamous history of sneaking out at night, having a prefect stand guard will also be a helpful benefit."

 

"You've managed to not get caught, but did you really think I don't know what's going on? Well, we'll let you rest. Miss. Vance I'm sure you can find your way back." April nodded her head.

"Relax Apollo, I can handle myself, you know. Good night, Chloe and Apollo." April said walking out with the professors.

Chloe turned and looked at Apollo before taking a seat.

"You know you got to let April grow up on her own you know." Chloe spoke to break the silence looking at him.

 

"You're right, she does have a lot of growing up to do, but Hogwarts takes them at age 11 for a reason. Who helped you out to grow up since you were 11. I don't have any siblings. I think I did a fine job finding my own way in the world." Chloe said.

"I'm sorry..." She admitted though soon after. She stood up and started to head out.

"I'll go have John come up, I'm sure you know him, he's a sixth year prefect on the Quidditch team."

Chloe turned back around picking up a chocolate frog case. She dug out her wand as she pointed it at the chocolate frog case.

"Immobulus." she casted on it to stop if from jumping out on him before walking over to the window looking outside.

She held her wand in her hand.

"There's a storm coming over the forbidden forest." She stated as she watched storm clouds rolling in. She reached into her pocket pulling out a locket and looking at it.

"My grandmother used to love storms. She said they could be a sign of bad omen also that something dangerous was going to happen, but she said growing up she always loved storms because during those trouble times, that's when you get to learn about yourself and others. It's not just a bad omen storm, it's a chance to learn and discover."

 

"Huh the forbidden forest?" How often she's been there.

"I've been there a few times, more often since starting my fourth year. I'm friends with the game keeper, Hagrid, so a few times I've gone into the forbidden forest with him. Some times I've been there alone." She said.

"Miss. York!" Chloe turned around when the nurse ran in.

"I'm supposed to let you know that the prefects are having an emergency meeting in five minutes in the great hall." The nurse said before leaving.

"An emergency meeting?" Chloe said a bit shock and worry in her voice.

 

Chloe looked back at Apollo.

"Eat too much of that stuff, and you'll be sick on top of healing cracked ribs." Chloe said not passing him the candy like he originally asked as he headed out of the infirmary to the Great Hall.

"What's going on?" Chloe asked as she ran into another prefect from Hufflepuff.

"I'm not entirely sure, I heard that a second year student is missing from Griffindor."

"Missing?" Chloe walked into the Great Hall as the head boy and girl stood up front with some Hogwarts professors.

"You're probably wondering why I asked you all to come here, as some might of heard rumors, shortly after the quidditch match a student was reportedly seen walking into the forbidden forest with unknown cloaked man. We aren't sure who this figure was but apparently she looked like she was in a trance of some sort. By the time we were notified or knew of the events, it was already pretty late and we're starting the search now. I need all the fifth year prefects to remain in your common spaces as well as one sixth year prefect. Head boy and Head Girl are staying here and watching over Hogwarts. The one sixth year prefect will be in charge of traveling between house common spaces and here to keep informed. For now all students must remain in the common space. The rest of you will be paired with a professor to seek the forbidden forest and quidditch pitch for clues and perhaps sightings of where this student went." The prefects all nodded as they quickly got busy on their assigned task.

"You two, Tom, I would like you to act as the in between person. Chloe although I would prefer you searching with us, I need you to watch over Apollo and not let him know about what is going on here." Professor Dumbledore approached the two sixth year prefects.

"But sir, I'm sure a Hufflepuff prefect would be able to." Chloe said desperately want to help on the search perhaps trying once again to pull off her animagus form to help.

"He'll be suspicious. Based off of his worries for his sister, we don't need to add to it." Chloe nodded understanding what Dumbledore was saying before returning back to the infirmary.

She stopped from entering though as she slid down and sat on the other side of the door of the infirmary. No soon later, Chloe fell asleep sitting at the door.


The next day approached, news and rumors of the missing student spread like wild fire. Professor Dumbledore made an announcement about it at dinner the next day also asking students to travel in pairs.

It was a week since Apollo was permitted to leave the infirmary. Chloe did what she could to help him, some days were good days, some were bad, and some growing more were awkward. During that time it became obvious that somethings Apollo struggled in as Chloe then dedicated herself to help him improve.

April spent several breaks she could in the infirmary visiting her brother until she stopped spending more and more time instead in the library studying potions, even beginning to make some friends.

The missing Griffindor student hasn't yet turned up. Some are already guessing that the student is dead. The Ministry of Magic even came in sending people to search, but nothing yet.

Halloween was soon approaching though, with only a week till Halloween day, it was decided it was the right time to celebrate and try to get it off student's minds.

Professor Dumbledore stood up.

"A special announcement from Professor McGonagall." As McGonagall stood up and spoke.

"As you all are surely aware that in a week it'll be Halloween. As a special treat we have decided that we will be having a masquerade ball. The ball will be open to all students. 1st through 3rd year students will be in the Great Hall ending at 11. 4th through 7th year students will be taking place in the Transfiguration Courtyard ending at the strike of midnight. Students after those times or planning not to attend must be in their house common spaces only. Please be reminded in order to attend you must have a date." The students all quickly broke out in an uproar of talking going back to eating dinner for the night.

Chloe was quickly back to eating.

"Chloe are you going to go with Apollo?" Chloe nearly choked.

"What?" Chloe asked.

"Well we've all seen you hanging around him all the time."

"That's because I've been tutoring him."

"It's not for tutoring, we've been watching. We've seen the way he's looked at you and the way you've looked at him, even the way you two act around one another, nervous young love." Chloe looked up glancing at the table of Hufflepuff next to them seeing Apollo sitting there with the quidditch team.

"I don't know what you're possibly talking about. Apollo and I won't be going to the dance. Especially if I'm supposed to take the shift Mondays." Chloe said standing up.

"I'll take it, and no taking back." A seventh year prefect quickly volunteered. Chloe remained standing there shaking her head.

"Alright, I'll be spending a quiet evening in reading. Good evening." She said as she started to walk away.

"I bet she'll be reading romantic poetry they continued to poke fun." She shook her head as she left the great hall to head back to the Ravenclaw tower, deep in thoughts.

 

Chloe stopped walking when she suddenly heard Apollo's voice behind her. She stopped walking smiling and turned around to see him leaning against the wall, a Hufflepuff girl tripping over her words.

" Well um, you see....i was um...i was wondering if you would...."

Chloe stood there unsure how to react before turning back around and heading back off to the Ravenclaw Tower.

'Good for him getting a date, he deserve's to have a good time due the way things have been going for him right now. He needs that, as for me I've got some transfiguration reading to do and I need to practice my animagus form, I'm just busy, busy, busy.' Chloe mentally thought to herself as she walked away and was nearly there at the Ravenclaw Tower, deep in thought.
