Deimos shook his head and frowned, "Don't take it personally, I don't trust anybody except Sophia, so it's not just you. Anyway, I..." He hesitated a bit, before sighing and continuing, "I need to ask you a favor. Sophia needs to remain neutral, this world cannot fall into war again, but if it does, being neutral will keep Sophia alive... I won't be around forever, none of us will and we all know it, but I'm asking you this as a fellow knight, despite my distrust. If I should die defending her, keep her safe. Keep her neutral by whatever means, and please... Be there to comfort her if I no longer can.

If things go as I think they will... then this quiet will not last much longer. You know as well as I do that King Gabriel and Lord Valdus are vying for Sophia's allegiance. What's best for this world, what's best for her, is for her to remain neutral." Deimos stopped and looked up at Kelianne and lightly smiled, "If it means anything, I'm asking you because you are the most trustworthy person here, which, despite my trusting issues, even I can see. Can you do this for me?"

Keli had nearly retorted to Deimos' expression of distrust, restraining herself only in noticing that he was searching for more words to speak. Her mouth, which had hung open, ready to speak, shut tightly. From his first words, though, it dropped open again, and she cocked up an eyebrow, struggling to fathom that she was actually hearing him say what he was to her of all people. When he finished, she was still hanging, piecing together everything he had said.

When she had finally regained her composure, her face retreated into a saddened grimace. "You must now that a promise like that can't be made with certainty in the climate of things; I'm as likely to die as you are, and I trust you know that I knew that risk when I came here." She shook her head, relieving herself of the horrid associations with the thought that even she found repugnant. When she put her eyes back on Deimos, they seemed more serious and far stronger. "But I can promise, that should you fall before I do, that Sophia will remain safe and neutral. If, should the time come, you're ready to pass the torch, I'll be ready to carry it."

She finished with a courtly bow, and quickly transitioned into a slightly more upbeat tone. "Now, you'd best get some breakfast. You look famished." She turned about on the balls of her feet, looked at the table, and then turned her head back toward Deimos. "I swear, I won't take a bite until I've seen you eat something."

Sophia looked curiously over at Will, who seemed to be deep in thought about something. Not sure any other way to break him, she began poking his cheek curiously, waiting to get a reaction. "Hey, you ok," she asked out of concern.

Angel had finished her plate already and was reaching around the table grabbing for more food to fill her plate back up. Noticing Sophia show such concern for Will, she put an arm around Sophia and said, Tch, dark realmers are always moody as shit! Don't even worry about it Sophy!" Angel always had a distaste of those who derived from the realm of darkness, although she had been raised to think of both realms equally from her parents.

Deimos returned to the table just as Angel spoke up, and stopping beside her, he placed his hand on her chair and turned her towards him. He looked her in the eyes and sternly spoke out, "I'd watch your tongue young lady. You are here as support for Sophia, the Twilight Princess, your friend who's half darkness. Keep your opinions to yourself, or I will be forced to take action."

Nobody, not even Sophia, knew Deimos was a denizen of the realm of Darkness, and the secret pretty much died with Sophia's parents. Now only Deimos knows of his origins, and he prefers to keep it that way.

Angel reached back towards the table, grabbing her fork which had food on it still and ate it in front of Deimos, seemingly unhinged. "Oh really? I had no idea that Sophia, the Twilight Princess, was born from twilight," she said sarcastically, turning her seat back around. She laughed a bit as she picked up more food onto her plate with her fork before mumbling to Sophia, "See? Moody. As. Shit" She smirked gleefully as she happily continued her meal.

Sophia looked back at Deimos before back at Angel, an idea crossing her mind. Not wanting Deimos to feel offended, Sophia sat upright completely and began to carefully cut her food. "Oh yes, a moody bunch those Dark Realmers are. Us Light Legion are simply perfect in every way compared to them. Why, we're so much more sophisticated and more well mannered that those Dark Realmers should worship our feet," Sophia said in a mocking and snooty tone, her head held high. It took every bit of her to hold back from laughing, as he idea seemingly worked as Angel glanced over at her.

Instead of commenting, Angel simply continued eating her food. It was apparent that she did not enjoy Sophia's eye for an eye comment.

Deimos sighed and reached over Angel's head, grabbing all the food in front of her and lifting it over his head. "Thank you Sophia, but I'm in one of those moods, y'know, where I just want to eat and eat and your friend here was kind enough to offer me her food. How kind of her right?"

With a devious smirk, very rarely seen on Deimos's face, he grabbed a fork and began eating the food he stole from Angel until it was gone. "Huh, I guess I was hungry. Well, thank you kindly for the food Miss Angel. Sophia, when you and Kelianne are done, we have preparations to attend to." He turned to Angel and smiled darkly, "Don't worry, there'll be more food where you and Will'll be taken until the preparations are complete... Unless you both swear an Knight's oath here and now, which mind you, means you cannot publically speak out against either the dwellers of Darkness or Light." He looked at Kelianne and nodded, signalling her to hopefully play along.

Will shook his head as Sophia poked his cheek, his tongue getting the better of him as he heard Angel's comments. "Well at least I'm not afraid of what I can't see..." He breathed, slowly poking at his food, his mind still running a million miles as he took a few small bites. His eyes landed on Deimos and he saw the smirk, and the same grew on his face. After Deimos' little proposal was on the table his smile widened. Will knew there was no such clause in the knight's oath. "Sure, why not. I'll swear it, whatever the hell it is." He breathed, eyes glowing brightly.

Edmund tossed in his sleep, memories of war coming to his mind as he slept. A flash of rain pouring over a shadowed field as he quickly strode forward. His cloak hid his face as he spun the keyblade, uppercutting a soldier and sending him onto his back. As he strode up and looked at the dark dweller, his face turned into a hateful scowl as he lifted his left hand, harsh light burning from the tips of his fingers as it burned out the man's corpse. Thunder cracked as he continued forward, spinning the keyblade to sit behind him as he began running forward, a large force in front of him. His eyes glowed blue from the power that had grown inside of him, a vicious smile tearing his lips apart...

Angel clenched her fists tightly before beginning to rise up, her temper getting the best of her. "You jacka-"

Sophia held Angel's wrist, not hard enough to hold her back by no means, but to try and get her to calm down. Angel looked down at Sophia before glaring back at Deimos. She slowly sat down, as Sophia had wished, much to her dismay. Sophia looked up to Deimos with a pouting face. "That was very rude of you Deimos," she said sternly, disappointed in Deimos' behavior. She looked at her own plate, which was still filled halfway although she was full, and slid it to Angel. She gave Angel a hearty smile and said, ""I'm full anyway, don't worry about it!"

Angel looked down at the plate, reflecting on Sophia's genuinely kind nature. Whether she was honestly full or not didn't matter to Angel as she had known Sophia long enough to know that she cared for her. She always did... "I'm not gonna eat your food Soph. I've eaten enough of your food anyway," she said, sliding the dish back to Sophia. She glanced back at Deimos and scoffed at his offer. "Tch, forfeit my right to speak out against whoever and whatever I want? No thanks. You can-" She looked at Sophia, not wanting to offend her friend. She joyfully put an arm around Sophia, as the two girls smiled and laughed. -keep that offer to yourself."

More like shove it up your ass.

Valdus was only minutes away from the realm of Twilight as he and several of his private guards were dressed for the funeral accordingly. No doubt he would, at some point, be forced into speaking to Gabriel, the King of Light. He only hoped that the two could come to some sort of peace at the funeral. The last thing he wanted was to wage war...or at least that's what he said aloud.

"Geez, really did a number on him, huh," a voice asked from behind Edmund. From the shadows emerged a black and red eyed man wearing the same colored clothing. He threw the cigarette he had in his mouth onto the ground, stomping out the flame. "Now, if you're done playing with toys, we have a funeral to attend," he said, throwing Edmund an invitation. The man held his collar out and smirked. "You might want to look the part as well buddy. Can't make yourself look too obviously suspicious. You know how Carter rolls-" Carter brushed his hair and did a small pose. "-always looking good for special occasions."

Edmund snapped awake, his keyblade coming to his hand as he sat up with a start. The blade was held backhanded and pointed at Carter until he recognized who it was. "Fucking Carter... Just remembering the good old days before my imprisonment and execution. When I had all the power I could want at my fingertips." He hissed, standing and brushing the dust off his cloak and such. His gear had changed much since he was in the knights, the heavy armor and such that they wore gone, replaced by a simple cloth tunic with leather accents. He covered his face in part of his cloak, the longer garment falling down his right arm, hiding the other knife and short sword he hid on his belt. "I am perfectly fine how I am, thank you." He breathed, running a leather clad hand through his hair, the long locks now hiding what was left of his face. He remembered the war clearly, and he was almost sure that none would recognize him, at least not his appearance. His keyblade however, would draw attention. He let the blade disappear and he looked to his comrade. "Whenever you are ready." He said, motioning towards the exit.

"Tch, whatever man. You better not get noticed, or else we don't get paid," Carter said to Edmund, as he examined his clothing. For the most part, it seemed acceptable. He'd need only claim that he was a warrior from the realmof light and present to the guards that invitation. The same went for Carter, althoug his invitation claiimed that he was the son of a political official in the Realm of Darkness. He started his walk towards the exit, adjusting his clothing. "So, Realm of Twilight right? The note our employer gave us was to go to the funeral and for us to mingle with the guests first. I've never been good with the whole talky talky to a bunch of people before....I usually shoot them in the face before they even ask my name. So, you handle that part and I'll talk to our fair princess!" Carter clapped his hands together, calling the plan. "You know if Nils is there already? I think the employer wanted us to all arrive there at least within minutes from each other. Would be AWKWARD if we both walk in and he's just sitting there."

Edmund nodded, pulling his cloak the rest of the way over his mouth as his hair fell over his eyes, a small glow coming from his eyes as he spoke. "I'm better at talking... but, there's a chance I may get recognized. I'll do the small talk and keep to the side, you just focus on the half breed." He spat, clasping Carter's hand and shaking before stepping back, creating a small ball of light in his right hand and crouching. "I'll see you at the party..." He breathed, pushing the ball of light into the floor and making it open up, swallowing him and sending him to the Twilight Realm. As his boots touched ground in front of the cemetery he stood, eyes scanning the crowd that stood in front of him. "Let's have a bit of fun... shall we?" He breathed, walking forward with a brisk stride.

Kelianne stood true to her last words. She sat down at the table, claiming the seat she had marked off with her helmet, but only looked about the table at the morsels of morning pastries and fruits and the breakfast ham that, even half eaten by others, managed to dominate the center of the table. She neither set hand or utensil upon anything though, instead observing the continued antics and conversations of the others. It was only when Deimos had dug into his share of the meal that Keli followed suit. With a gusto to match that of most hardy men, she stacked her plate with a hefty load: three large pancakes piled up, and flooded over within a poo of syrup, which slowly worked itself around two choice cuts from the ham, which sat underneath a pile of scrambled eggs; a breaded biscuit spread with butter teetered on the plate's edge; to keep some look of "good health," she capped off her meal with a bowl of mixed fruits.

For the moment that followed, she engaged in what some might have referred to as the "inhalation" of her meal, downing half her plate rather quickly before washing it down with a chug of water. "He's right, you know," she said to Angel and Will. "The two of you should really consider swearing in. We could probably use a few extra hands, especially for today."She paused for another moment, quickly finishing off another quarter of her meal before pointing her fork towards the two, continuing on, saying, "besides, it's the best way for you to stand by your friend. But... yeah, it does mean you have hold your criticisms. But it's worth every tongue you hold."

Will scoffed, looking down at his plate in irritation before speaking. "I don't know if he told you, Keli, but I am currently a reject of the Knights of Darkness. I'm a failed experiment..." He spat, lifting his right hand and rotating his knuckles, the metal clanking loudly as his joints grated, a small screech echoing around the hall as everyone stared. He looked up, eyes glowing an eerie golden yellow from the amount of darkness coursing through his system. "I tried the knights before, they didn't seem to do well for my health." He breathed, voice low as he smirked lightly. Will lowered his head before going back to eating, hoping no one would say anything about his small outburst.

Sophia sat between her two friends with a befuddled look as she struggled to think of something to ease the tension in the room. Everyone arguing and yelling was the last thing she needed at the moment, but she was still unable to find a resolve. She slowly stood up and cleared her throat a bit. "Umm....would you all...please excuse me for a bit," she managed to get out before turning to the nearest ladies restroom.

Angel watched as Sophia ran off, her face turning to a bit of disgust. She turned back and looked at Deimos before saying, "You're a real asshole, you know that?" She looked at Will and patted him on the shoulder before smirking out, "But your mine and Sophia's successful experiment of a friend Will." She stood up and began walking into the bathroom behind Sophia, making sure she was fine.

Deimos scoffed and grabbed Angel's shoulder, turning her to face him. "Kelianne, please go check on Sophia, I need to speak to these two..." He spoke to his fellow knight before turning to Angel. "Your blatant racism started all of this. I have been by Sophia's side her entire life, and you and Will need to get along, and start learning to be more respectful. Sophia's father was of the Realm of Darkness, and her mother, from Light. We all have our flaws, and we all have our strengths. When you disrespect either of the realms, you disrespect the honor of Sophia's parents. You were brought here as support, and so far, you've done nothing of the sort, both of you."

He pulled Angel back, and stood in front of the door to the restroom blocking the way in. "Will, you are not a failure. Believe me when I tell you that I know what it feels like to be different. If you can move past your hatred towards the Realm of Light, then I'm willing to accept you as my apprentice. I'm sure Kelianne would be happy to take you on as well Angel, if you agree to move past your hatred towards the Realm of Darkness. Understand?"

Will turned his eyes down as he stood, setting his napkin on the table and looking towards the knight that stood in front of him, his eyes scanning over the dream he had failed to realize. The fact that Deimos was trying to console him didn't stop his blood from boiling over Angel's comment. He looked Deimos in the eyes, the glow from his most certainly unnerving to most. "I never hated the light kingdom. I hate those who did this to me and then took away my dream! All I wanted was to do some good..." He hissed, slamming his metal fist on the table. He then turned, looking sideways at Angel. "And the last time I checked, I wasn't being an asshole. I was just being moody as shit like all us from the dark realm are..." He shrugged Deimos' hand from his shoulder as he straightened his coat and started towards the door. "If Sophia needs me I'll be in the gardens." He growled, throwing the doors open as he reached them, the blue knight's coat tightening on his shoulders, making him look a bit bigger than he actually was.

A clang of metal against glass chimed through the room amid the raised voices. Keli had dropped her fork, both astonished and appalled at the sight of Sophia's departure. She quickly wolfed down her biscuit, swallowing it whole and washing it down with a large chug of water. She rose up to her feet, throwing all three of her companions a nasty look. But she nodded to Deimos, and slipped around him and Angel to the bathroom door.

She entered the restroom, a large, public space usually used during large parties. Multiple stalls lined the wall to her right, each aligned with a set of sinks on the right wall. "Miss Sophia?" she called. The bathroom's main floor space was barren; the Princess had likely shut herself into the a stall. "You are in here, yes? Will you be alright?"

  18. King of Darkness

Sophia had hidden herself in one of the stalls, tears rolling down her cheeks as she silently sobbed. She had jumped in surprise upon hearing the bathroom door open and then close. She stayed quiet for a moment, waiting to hear who it was.

Almost instantly, Sophia hear Kelianne's voice call out to her. She quickly tugged the toilet paper from the roll, dabbing her eyes and wiping her cheeks clean of her tears. She cleared her throat and replied in a shaky and hesitant voice, "Yes, I'm fine Miss Kelianne. Just...um...needed a minute." She wanted to walk out, but felt embarrassed if Keli saw her in tears. It would do no one any good seeing her in tears at this point.

Angel sucked her teeth, knowing that Deimos would not allow her to follow her friend through the doors. "First of all, don't act like your free from blame Damien," she said, purposely saying his name wrong to irritate him. "If you weren't such a moody little prick, maybe this wouldn't have happened, huh? And so what if I have a little hate towards your kind? Sophia is different, but you all are the same! I don't have to respect you or like you. All I care about is that my friend is happy!"

She turned in the direction that Will had ran off to, wanting to run off to him but waved it off. She didn't mean to offend Will too harshly out loud as she considered him as a friend as well. Truth be told, he and Sophia were the only two that Angel saw any different when compared to those who came from the realm of darkness.

Deimos shook his head and sighed, "Angel, you have no idea how wrong you are... Honestly, both you and Sophia know little of my past... How different I am from all of you. I'd tell you but can you honestly expect me to believe you'll keep my deepest, darkest secret from your best friend, and my charge since birth? Do not think of me as a simple denizen of darkness, Angel, I am not so simple minded as to let my emotions get the better of me, however, what I did, I did to prove a point. As you've seen, not all dark realm residents are the same. And besides, you are already blinded by the love you have your eyes set on."

Shaking his head once again, Deimos chuckled lightly before continuing, "I wish you the best at winning your love interest's heart, but know that I will not treat you any differently regardless of your position."

Will finally pushed his way out into the garden, angry letting out a frustrated growl. He gritted his teeth as he quickly pulled his coat off and tossed it to the side, hearing it fall onto the marble railing as he jogged down the steps, the black tank top hanging loosely off his shoulders, the metal from his prosthetic gleaming brightly in the midday sun. He stretched slightly before beginning to do what he always did when he was irritated or pissed. He trained. He quietly walked forward before crouching, touching the ground and making himself about eight targets, normal height and size from dirt in a circle around him, about ten to fifteen feet away. He slowly rolled his shoulders before taking a few slow and feinted punches, slowly beginning to speed his moves up, slowly adding in kicks and rolls before finally coming into his full combat reflexes.

He turned, diving forward towards a target, turning the top of his prosthetic into a blade that came out about six to eight inches past his knuckles. As he came upwards he slid the blade up the target, sliding it through the center of mass before turning, kicking the top half of the target away from him. He then charged forward, bowling the opposite target over before stabbing it repeatedly. He then looked behind him, seeing the closest target to his right he touched the ground, sending a large stone spear through the target before he flipped backwards, coming back to his feet and reeling backwards, tapping the ground with his foot to make a 4 foot spear, his hand shaping the hardened stone as it came from the ground. The intricate spearhead looking quite interesting from a distance, but it was sharp enough to be deadly, his reactions proving that point as he spun it, quickly turning and stepping forward, the motion following the spear and sending it forward into a target, his hand catching the tail end of the spear and pulling it back, the head making a deep enough mark for it to be a crippling blow.

He then turned quickly and rolled his hand, his metal fingers clanking as they slid to the middle of the spear before it rolled from his grip and into another target. He then spun, facing the last three targets. He touched his hands to the ground, sending two rock spikes into the targets before charging the one in the middle. He bowled the target over again before placing his hand where the head would be, pure darkness oozing from his hand and disintegrating the target, his eyes glowing brighter as he watched the darkness eat away the stone, slowly eroding it into nothing. His eyes glared of anger as he stood, sweat covering him as he stood back into the middle of the circle, eyes surveying the damage he had done to the gardens open area. "At least I didn't his the marble this time..." He huffed, panting slightly from his exercise. He tapped the top of his metal hand, allowing the blade to morph back into the plating before stretching a bit more, feeling his body creaking from the exertion.
