  1. EtherealSummoner

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

Maybe Zerieth wanted to make sure that Mai is more of a seperate person from Kai so that the battle order will be more understandable.

It will work as I have put it.

The two of you will make your posts, and I'll make one, and so on.

So does the order change now?

Wait a sec (Unless you guys are too far in the fight already. If so, just ignore this post). Since I'm not judging, I could sub in for Zhyriad's ally.

They just started. Zhy wanted to do a 1 vs 2.

So, I guess I'll just wait for Zerieth to post, then.

I meant to say Zhy. . . It's hard for me when there are only two users that use the letter Z, apparently.

Getting my post put together. This character requires a lot of thought.

What ever, just get it up by the end of the day.

    *Edit*

I wish to fight someone using the character i plan to use for Divine Magic rp.

Name: Ben Cross (Hope some of you remember him =D)
    Age:19
    Gender: Male
    Race:The Senz
    Affinity: Fire
    Pic:
    Weapon: [IMG]
His blade can grow and shrink just like Ivy from soul cal 2. It can also become a regular sword, though its potential is far diminished in that state.

Bio: He enrolled in the Academy at the normal age of seven. He remained an extra year to perfect his chain blade techniques. He is a proficient mage in all arts of his race, but he will always remain far more superior with fire. His very technique is his flame whip, in which he coats his chain sword with a long burning oil and sets it ablaze. The sword is made of special metal that is unaffected by the heat, but it can also never be reforged because of this.

Personality: He's a real fun loving guy, but also a very serious fighter. Beware that blade, because he often curls it around himself to keep from being injured. His major weakness is that once your under his guard he can't protect himself well, but its rare that this ever happens.

good luck with him. Desert will judge in arena beta if he sets up a stage.

I've essentially voiced this to Zerieth, but I feel as though the judging system for this arena needs to be reworked, and redefined.

Okay. Stage is set up. But as a warning now, I will be busy for a majority of Saturday. So I don't think I will be able to judge on Saturday, except for late at night.

Adding onto that, I think that the OOC portion battle system in general should be revamped.

    EDIT
On a lighter note, I'd be willing to take on Zerieth's character with the one I've just posted up onto the Divine Magic thread.

I have the point system set up to encourage everyone to post in a form that we can all understand. It is not fair to someone if they miss something because an opponent mistyped badly. For instance, the fact that some have forgotten the use of a space bar could make it difficult for someone who is not such a great reader to do battle.

    Also awesome. =D

My issue, is that while that does make sense, sometimes typos occur (which is what happened in my case).

I just feel as though you're wrapping yourself too much around the grammar, and technical stuff, and not enough around the roleplaying that's happening. I;ve read through the other battles, and noticed that you didn't really comment on how well any of the played their characters. Nor did you seem to make any comments about any of their methods in the battles.

Basically, I'm saying that I think that you're looking at the battles through a VERY narrow window of judgment, that doesn't take the entire spectrum of what roleplaying is into account.

I don't usually need to because i know how good the people who rp are in here. I usually don't say much to do with the actual role playing unless something bad happened, and that's not the case. Everyone here is pretty good at changing to fit the circumstances they find themselves in.

As for the typo, those should not pop up at all if you follow what i said earlier in this thread. Read over what you post, then read it again out loud so your ears can catch any mistakes you make. If this is an argument to my judgment on your typo, I'm not changing my mind. The techniques you all use in the arena will make you all better role players and less liable to make a mistake in your posts.

I'll admit that everyone makes mistakes, but if you look over what you write, it will help you catch that mistake.

Yes, but you can't just make decisions of who should win the battle from the RPing perspective based upon prior knowledge of the peoples' skills. You have to look at the situation by the individual battles, and really pick apart their writing and their roleplaying, because when it comes down to it, a roleplayer is a writer, but a writer is not a roleplayer, a truth that I have fallen into defeats for on multiple occasions.

Being that these are battles, it is necessary to look more deeply into the roleplaying aspect of it, and determine who was utilizing their character to a higher degree, and who was putting forth a greater amount of effort into their techniques.

I guess it really comes down to this:

Is a per son who is a good writer, but a not so good RPer >, or <, or = someone who is a decent writer, but a skilled RPer?

Now, in my own defense, which I will do only to prove my point, and nothing else, as your decision is still the law, and I respect what you're trying to do, I feel that your judgment is somewhat moot in this case. After seeing your reason for docking my point, I looked up the term that I used, which was a mere order of words mix up by your analysis, and found that what I had written in made as much sense as what you said should have been put in. And as it stood, moogle had been able to understand what had happened despite what you had pointed out.

I don't mind losing, I've spent most of my time RPing losing, or sometimes, not even concluding battles. But I've only ever lost on the basis of my roleplaying ability, not my writing ability. What I do mind, is when my loss comes down to things that are minuscule, and in the long run of the battle, inconsequential, as the flow of things was not disrupted. And when you look at it, I also put out more upon the page than both of my opponents did in this first wave of posting, and subtly, provided a healthy amount of insight into my character's personal dynamics. Yet as it stands, under your current judging method, a person who has posted such as myself, could lose the battle on the whole on the basis of a small, perceived error, which the roleplayer in me feels is not 100%. (Over 400 words, and someone gets grilled for two of them being "mixed up". A longer post is more likely to have mistakes than a shorter one).

As I've said, what your doing is something that is respectable at its core, but in method, it is being just a bit too overblown. All I'm saying, is that you need to evaluate the net value of each post, considering all factors, not just what grammatical mistakes exist within them.

I judge winners based on who gets snuffed. The penalty for typing a lot of mistakes is loss judgment so it encourages people to watch what they type.

As for the mixed word thing, it didn't sound right to me, but if you post a source you got the wording from i will change that judgment as it would be really dumb of me to pursue something that I'm in the wrong about.
