I think it is slightly born with. Because it seems true for me. I'm more comfortable with white people. I feel kinda awkward when I think about the possibility about me dating somebody who is black. Heck, when I'm playing video games I choose to play as the white guy and not the black guy.

I can see where you're coming from. Probably, it's a bit of both, though I think the emphasis is on taught. I think kids just absorb it from watching and trying to emulate their parents and other family members. I don't think most people sit their kids down and say "[Insert race here] people are better than everyone else." The kids just pick it up from comments they overhear and the way they notice their families behaving. Like I mentioned in my last post, if Mom and Dad only bring white friends around the house, that's who the kids are going to feel more comfortable around, and want to be around themselves.

I wonder, if a child is adopted at birth by parents of another race, which race she'd feel more comfortable and identify with. If racism was something you were born with, moreso than taught, you'd think the child would feel more at home around her own race. But I think the child wouldn't really notice that she were different from her parents unless other people pointed it out to her and made a big deal about it, and would feel more at home with people of her parents' race, at least for a while.

Actually, most of my relatives have preferred in my childhood that white people are better than black. I was born along racist comments and people looking down blacks, but somehow I really never grew as a racist. Or I don't really feel myself as one since I have friends of other races and I don't say what some of my friends do, like that all the blacks should be sent out of Finland.

Yup, that's what I do too, when choosing the character to play with. I don't think it's racist thought, just that what I'm used to choose from.

You chose the white character because it looks most like you. If you really like the game, then you want to feel as if you are in it. So unconciously, you pick what looks like you or what you most want to look like. Usually, even if small changes are made like red hair if you have brown, your skin color won't change.

I don't even care about the skin color of video game characters anyways. Race don't even bother me. White, blue or black, who cares? Shouldn't make a difference. I play a white character too & I like to play black characters also. If there's a game that allows you to make your own character like the Mii on the Nintendo Wii or Perfect World, then it's good that you can make your character that looks just like you but other than that, there should be no racism whatsoever.

I think that would be an example of choice. Instead of following in the footsteps of your family members and friends, you chose to not treat others as if they weren't as good as you. Or so I see it.

    I agree with this comment.

I don't think this makes you racist. You can't really control what attracts you to other people. I don't see it as any different than prefering a certain height, or hair color, or liking athletes, or whatever. And I see racism as something more hateful, something intended to hurt or degrade others.

I find it real funny in movies when a black man gets mad at a white man dating or marrying a black woman. Same with a white woman dating a black man. In reality, well, I really don't think you should be racist on that regardless what you think about your person or if your person been cheating.

It does strike me as ironic. Why be mad though? They can't help their feelings.

  9. Because it "disrupts" the "order."

Pardon my language but Screw the order. Anyone should be allowed to love any race. After all, biologically we are all the same right? So what's the big deal about it.

*Starts whispering* Because we always marry our own race. We don't want a half black-half white kid. White people always want to listen to their opera and do their fancy habits. Spanish people always speak weird. Blah blah blah. That's the mind of a stereotyping human if you ask me. Still, everyone are human and is no less than anyone else.

White people always want to listen to opera? You chose some odd 'stereotypes' to use as examples.

I think this has become much more accepted than it was in the past. At least around these here parts, there are a lot of biracial children. And no one seems to ostracize them from the community.

Half white half black? If a person is a color, they are totally that color. We do not have mixed patches like some animals do. In any case, having certain skin colors is a human survival trait. Because of different thicknesses in our atmosphere, different amounts of UV radiation impact different parts of the world. Believe it or, africa is one that has had heavier concentrations. Europe does not have a large concentration or hasn't had that much concentration in the past could thousand years. To avoid cancer, black people biologically developed their color to help combat the radiation. The darker the skin, the less radiation they take in.

It's because of them being born from a black daddy and a white mommy or vice-versa that makes them half whatever. There are exceptions to that though.

  15. To supports Toph statement on biracial children, that's hits home pretty hard (not in a bad way). I technically and 15% African 30% and 45% Chinese and whole crap load of other things. I get called blasian all the time and it's really funny with what people can come up when they try to make you feel bad

I hear ya Reo, but really is it all that pab being or having more races in you? I mean that would mean you are part of so many different cultures, that would mean you have so much history about you family, you could be part of a long line of kings or queens, chief larder, or priest, or warrior. Yes back in the day if you weren't white it didn't matter cuz whites thought they were the super race, just becasue they say Jeus was white. Or becasue they thought ppl in the world were uneducated or couldn't function. i mean wtf, sounds like they were all Hitler or something close.

My family can be traced as far back as king Wenzeslaus before we splintered into the Wentz branch. If my exact bloodline is still true to this, then that would make me one of hundreds of royal people.

Btw, yes i have just given my full name on the site but there are dozens of other John Wentz's in my family. For all you know, i could be some guy in Tennessee. Suck on that serial rapists! Lolz.

That's a pretty serious generalization. Even 'back in the day', I don't think the average person thought minorities should be wiped off the planet or would have acted as Hitler did.

How are there exceptions? If one parent is of one race, and the other is something different, then any children they have are biracial. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding your post.

It's crazy how such a small difference became such a huge deal.

I noticed. I think the black people are better off really. They don't get sun burns nearly as easily. If the world atmosphere corrodes much further over america, they will be a lot better off than white people.

The reason why I said that there can be exceptions is because the kid may just fully take on the color of one race instead of just taking on the color of both. Don't know how it can be done though.
