no, its not like i side with everyone not christian. I have a problem with all religinos. Just think about it, all of the power and might of god. Omnipotent, immortal...... numbers are omnipotent and everlasting. They ARE time. They are beings that can not be touched or moved, only used to represent meaning or emotion.

why must we go to church i have been wondering, and i mean church is a creation of MAN not god and if god lives in each of us then then why not use that time to get to know ourselfs better and stay at home because if god is really in each one of us then how can we get any closer to him than being with ourselfs

What a excellent question. I thought about that also. You don't have to go to church to be close with God. I think people go because they think its the right thing to do. Of course, that is only my opinion.

    ^You fail at debate.

How about showing us some reasons for your opinion? Hearing that "Christianity wins" is not likely to convert anyone, or even make them more interested in the religion.

Well, christiantiy wins because, it is one of the only religions that has predicted something( jesus dying on the cross) 700 years before it happened and it actuelly came true. Also people have found ancient artifacts that prove the religion.(Srry about the small post... sort of just getting used to posting on the forums again.)

And what proof would that be?

I suppose people go because it's a way to become closer to other believers and learn more about the religion. You can gain other perspectives and have questions answered.

The original bible that was found is proof that it did happen! It shows that people were there and saw it with there own eyes!

Yeah, well that doesn't mean that it's true. Finding an old book and saying that it is true is like saying the Odyssey really did happen. And how the hell did it 'predict' Jesus dying on the cross?

It does no such thing. You can't infer just from the existence of a manuscript that the events it is describing were factual. Like Moogle said, it's like finding an ancient copy of the Odyssey, and assuming from that that all of Odysseus' adventures actually happened. That makes no sense.

-____- *sigh* I hope Mythril don't go back & read what Axel & the others says. Then he'll definitely will try to point something out. Speaking about the Odyssy, I really don't think that everything about Zeus & the other gods are actually real because there are a lot of things that are twisted.

. . . . And like the New Testament wasn't? The Church 'selected' books for the new testament, so we lost like seven books.

Yea. Two of them I know but can't remember the names but the other five, I can't remember.

Edit: Why they took them out? I don't know. they consider it sacred I guess in long past.

i agree, thats why i dont like belonging to a specific religion. That, and i dont always agree with certain religious customs and rituals. Spirituality is within the individual, we need to make our own descisions on god and the afterlife, not have someone else so them for us.

there wer 3,000 men recorded who wer crucified who claimed to be god around Jesus' time. So even if Jesus' was the "so of god", how could u be so certain without questioning? That, to me, sounds like ignorance.
There are a lot of apocrapha in both the old and new testament. Examples:
    3 Maccabees
    4 Maccabees
    Assumption of Moses
Ethiopic Book of Enoch (1 Enoch)
Slavonic Book of Enoch (2 Enoch)
    Book of Jubilees
Greek Apocalypse of Baruch (3 Baruch)
    Letter of Aristeas
    Life of Adam and Eve
    Martyrdom and Ascension of Isaiah
    Psalms of Solomon
    Sibylline Oracles
Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch (2 Baruch)
    Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs.
There are parts of Daniel that are missing, and parts of Isaiah missing too that were supposedly taken out by the church. Revelation was said to have been tampered with, and the Book of Enoch is the biggy. Because he has a story that would change the view of Christianity as a whole, and once the Church discovered this, I think< they flipped shit and didnt want ANYONE to know about the book. But they were too late. They just gave it a bad name. But the book of enoch explains angels in depth a LOT more.

Dude, all religions are twisted. It's not just the polytheistic ones. Some of the things about the Greek and Roman pantheon may or may not be true, but due to long periods of time we don't know what happens or how those stories came about. For all we know all religions were brought about by a storyteller who thought that having a God (or gods) would make an excellent story, and when they went out to spread their tales, they were taken as exact accounts that happened to people some where in the world.

Don't believe everything you hear, only 1/3 of what you read, and half of what you see.

On a side note to the dude who burst in here screaming Christianity "wins". This is a debate thread. A debate thread. You do not just jump in and shout something like that because, if you haven't guessed, it isn't true. Because this is a debate about religion, this will go on for some time (months and years if not decades and eons). There are no "winners" in this. Just different view points on the world as each person sees it. Keep that in mind when you jump into a thread about religions. If you wanna build up your religions ego, go to church and talk with other passionate Christians.

It is that very egotistical thinking that will turn many debaters here against you, and perhaps even further against the religion. Not to mention you look like an incompetent, selfish ass for saying it. At least to me you do.

Now that my rant is done I would like to ask what exactly those books are that you named off Myth.

I'm looking into the seven books to actually understand more about this, but I've came up with somethings. The Adam & Eve tells more about things that they had suffered the same way that modern humans have suffered but something else caught my eyes. Something about the catholics & the rabbis condemned the Books of Enoch & banned it & burning it, but it then came back to the surface centuries later. I think that the ones who did this are not really catholics at all or was scared to face the truth about fallen angels. I've also read about the part of Peter. ??? I'm confuse though about the heavens part. But there is one thing that I remembered at the end of Revelations. "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: & if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life & out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book."

Most likely that anyone who tries to switch God's words around will already suffer.

Edit: Jesus Christ knew about the Book of Enoch, but him knowing about this was erased by the "so called catholics" & was denounced & burned.

They are apocraphitical books of the bible, books that once belonged to the Bible that the Catholic church (most likely, could've been through other groups or mean) condemned and called blasphemy. They took the books out, and supposedly they changed parts of the Bible to make it seem like the other books never existed in the first place. But there are parts of the Bible that lead to the apocrapha, like the Catholic Church must've missed bits and pieces that they ment to take out but didnt. Such as in Job when god talks about the Leviathon and Behemoth, and in Genesis when it talks about Enoch spending 360 days with god. Look into them, i dont agree with all of them (like some of them are probably fake, and maybe the Catholic CHurch fabricated their own apocrapha to make the REAL apocrapha seem all the more false), but they are interesting, especially the Book of Enoch.

Very good points B. But the Revelations verse is one of the parts I was talking about. They may have put that in there so no one of the Christian faith would've ever thought that THEY DID ADD AND SUBTRACT FROM THE BIBLE!!
But I personally own a copy of the Book of Enoch, and it is very very cool. It explains a lot of missing pieces in the Bible. Also, after reading it, its hard not to believe in aliens afterwards, haha. Do more research, the apocrapha are very cool.

The Book of Enoch is one of the two books that I've heard about I don't know about the other one. The only reason I know about the Book of Enoch is because I saw a channel that was talking about the Book of Enoch & the other book & I I don't know what's it's called. Didn't bother to even watch it because I wanted to watch Digimon. XD

It isn't that hard to believe in aliens in the first place. The Universe has an infinite amount of space. No way is Earth the only place in all of infinity that contains complex life.

    EtherealSummoner Lamentations 3:22-26

To tell you the truth Mythril, I'm reading about this & I saw that I really wasn't deceived (Thank God I wasn't.) But as I kept on reading, I saw this. (Thanks to reluctant-messenger.com).

If this prediction of the Apostle is true, and from a first-century perspective it would soon come to pass when the very Prince of Darkness would sit in the "…temple of God, showing himself that he is God", and be worshiped by a disillusioned people who would falsely believe they were calling upon the name of the Lord, then all people who consider themselves to be sincere believers today had better rethink their position with respect to the purity with which the scriptures has been preserved. Moreover, in view of the fact that the Apostle warns that the church would be guided by false apostles -- some of whom were the very scribes who copied the biblical manuscripts we use to make our translations today -- then for the sincere believer to blindly accept the position of the modern church that the scriptures were preserved in a pure state, is merely asking to be deceived and misled. In our search today for Truth and Light, it is imperative that we recognize the warning in the Apostle’s own Epistles where we can clearly see that Paul predicts that counterfeit apostles and ministers would arise, and would control the church of this world which the masses of people will mistakenly believe is the genuine church of God. Of these false apostles and their leader, the Apostle warned the faithful flock: "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works" (2 Cor 11:13-15 NKJ).

I've always be careful, but even in the forgotten books, it states about this. -___- Do any one of us even take an interest in the Church of Rome? I never have any interest in it.

Edit: I will not tell everything that I'm reading for several reasons. Most of them I will keep to myself but it's this one verse that I'm reading over & over that I think will steam up Mythril & make him think the wrong way.
