Aiden grinned when Will challenged him. "You sure that's such a good idea? I'd hate for you to get your ass kicked again. Especially seeing as our pretty visitor would see you." he motioned to Angel Carter before chuckled and continued speaking. "But if you're sure, pick a weapon and let's get this over with."
He heard the announcement on the intercom from the president. 5 today huh? I wonder what poor bastard they are going to slaughter this time.

Class was interrupted when the Principal's vice came over the intercom with an announcement. She frowned, along with several other students in the class. I wonder what that's all about... she thought to herself as she stretched, laying her head back down on the desk.

Angel wasn't really paying attention to the two boys, she didn't notice Aiden's comment as she listened to the nurse speak. "Combat medicine isn't like normal healing. It's much harder, and it requires focus." she was saying. "In a regular office, you could lose a patient. On the field, you could lose your life as well. You need to work quickly, be prepared, and be discriminatory. You save more lives if you don't waste your time on a soldier you can't save. Is that understood?"

"Hmm... Perhaps if I were to break apart the molecule at this bond right here. But is there a mechanism to keep the molecule separated while I bond it to this carbon chain? What if I mix it with some acid? Would the H+ ion mess with the results of the experiment? But then again if I put in enough of what I'm trying to bond the molecule with, perhaps I could cause the equilibrium to shift towards the product and force it to be made. That might work, although I would have to boil away some of the reactants to prevent any sort of counterproductive reaction." A young man contemplated over a question early in the morning. It was a question that had been on his mind the previous day. How to synthesize a certain molecule based on what chemicals he was given to work with.

Unfortunately there wasn't anymore time for him to quietly reflect on this problem. The day was starting. There were things to do, places to go. This problem could wait until another day. Grabbing his lab coat, Tom quickly left his room to begin the day.

"IF Tag." The words echoed in Tom's ear, though he wasn't paying attention to who or what was speaking to him. He held the tag out as he wondered about what experiments to be doing for the day.

Looking out the window of the elevator, Tom observed the other students outside. Not many people seemed to stick out, which was probably for the better. Though he did see somebody with hair that almost looked like gold. "Her hair looks almost like that of an angel's." He quietly muttered to himself. His cheeks suddenly turning red, Tom gently hit his head against the elevator window. "How could you say that? Gah! How could you say something so stupid and embarrassing. If wifey heard you say that about her sister she would be ridiculing you so much right now. Okay, focus. Think about the experiments that need to be done today."

And so he made it to the lab without any further bouts of embarrassment. He was even able to focus on whatever tasks he had at hand, even with the President announcing over the intercom that everybody was to go and observe somebody get murdered later that day. But perhaps that was an easy way to manage in this cruel world. Block out everything that wasn't directly in front of you.

Will grinned, stretching a bit as he was about to open his mouth before the teacher spoke up. "No weapons today boys. All hand to hand today. You can get your hands on the weapons when we do combat exercises. We'll be using stun rounds so as to allow our new medic to try her skills on the unfortunate. You two are my captains, but I want to have you two spar instead of flipping a coin." The teacher's voice sounding bored up until he mentioned the fight between Aiden and Will. "Weapons on the table gentlemen, along with anything you don't want broken. And that means you McBride, I know about the knife you have on you." The teacher said, motioning to a wooden table at her side. Will stared at the teacher with a disgruntled look before complying. "Yes, Ms. Briggs." He growled.

*OOC- Is Tom a student? Why is he married?*

Aiden grinned, placing his own weapons down on the table. "A spar without weapons? That hardly seems fair to Will." he chuckled "This should be interesting." he cracked his neck, stepping into the center of the room were he waited for Will to take his position.

John watched the events on in the gym, as well as the other classes, through multiple security screens in his office. Seeing particular interest in seeing his son taking position to fight another student he turned the volume up on that screen as he looked over the schedule for the day. "So the president want's my students after class today? It wouldn't do for any of them to be late or misbehave. Perhaps I should call for an assembly the hour before."

    >It's a nickname he calls Hope since she's placed as a house wife. Just a little bit of playful teasing on his end. I thought it would be kinda humorous if I had him call Hope that instead of using her actual name.<

"Listen up. Today's experiment is a set of tests used to identify unknown substances. Each group is given three different chemicals and they are to determine what each chemical is out of a possible fifty different options. Multiple tests will be required on each chemical due to each test not necessarily resulting in a definite result. You all have had experience with some of these tests while others are new. Remember all of the proper procedures while performing these tests. Some of these chemicals are extremely volatile when mixed incorrectly and can either explode or create gases similar to tear gas." The teacher spoke, explaining Tom's task for the day.

"One more thing. It is a bit sudden, but there is that demonstration you all are required to attend at the Main Square today. While this experiment will be time consuming you shall all finish in time to make it to that demonstration. So go and focus on the task at hand."

"Right. Let's see... Fifty possible choices of chemicals." Tom thought to himself as he gathered his group's unknown chemicals. He looked at a board that had all the possible chemicals written on it. "And quite the selection too. Ethers, esters, alkynes, alkenes, alcohols, phenyl groups. I feel sorry for the poor unfortunate group that gets some of those proteins or some of those other difficult things." He turned to his group. "This shouldn't be too hard at all. We have all these possible tests to use to find out what our chemicals are. So I think we should work with all three chemicals at once, using each test to find out what our chemicals can't be and work our way towards a solution. As for which tests we should do first, focus on the tests that identify aldehydes and keytones. Those tests will give us an idea on the general size of each molecule. After that..." Tom continued to speak, thinking up a course of action that would get them through the experiment in the least amount of time.

Ellen shrugged in response to Jordan's final remark as he left, and she visibly frowned before continuing on her way. She reached her destination, the nurse's office, and walked inside. Upon entering she took a seat near the window as the nurse came out to see who had come inside.

"Ah, Ellen... Here for your medicine I see. Well this is the last one until we get a refill, will you be okay? You know the principal has given you permission to stay here and rest if you need too... I highly recommend..." She was interrupted by Ellen shaking her head, she wasn't going to let her sickness hinder her now. She's been fighting it for 18 years, and she would continue to fight until it killed her.

The nurse sighed and shook her head before handing the pill to Ellen, who popped it into her mouth and swallowed it. Nodding her thanks to the nurse, she got up and began to leave, only nodding when the nurse wished her a good day.

Will stretched, bouncing on the balls of his feet a few times before cracking his neck and rotating his shoulders. When he finished he stepped onto the mats at the center, making a few false swings and grapples before turning to face Aiden. "You get the first move man, all you." He said, stretching a bit more. He slowly lowered himself into a combat stance, ready for Aiden to approach him.

Gabriel had the camera feed on his tablet zoomed in on the metal pylon in the middle of the square. He watched one of his guards test the chains that hung from the top, about shoulder level for most. After that, the man checked the cuffs on the feet, making sure they locked closed. Once the man was sure it was solid he clicked his radio, checking in. "Sir, the square is ready. What is the plan for tonight?" He asked, eyes looking over the steel pylon. Gabriel smiled slowly as he shut down the camera feed. "That is a surprise my good man. We have something special in store for this one." He breathed, turning off the radio.

Angel listened intently to the nurse as she learned about combat medicine. It was only a fraction of the various types of healing she was learning but this was the part that scared her the most. Working with the military, even though she enjoyed healing, worried her. Would she end up like one of those people in uniform she saw kill without remorse? The thought sickened her. "Looks like their class is about to begin." the nurse said. "Those two soldiers about to fight are two of the top in class. No doubt, one or both of them will end up injured. The objective of their spar will be for one to stun the other. I want you to be ready when you are needed, which means you'll have to think about what equipment you'll need and get it ready as you watch it unfold. Understood?"
Angel nodded, "I'll do my best."

Will grinned as he was thrown forwards and Aiden stepped to the side. He curled tightly, grabbing Aiden's arm on the way down as he rolled, flipping his opponent over him and throwing him a few feet, the boy landing hard. Will rolled back, coming to his feet quite easily as he lowered his stance, shaking his leg before slowly walking forward. "Get up Aiden. I want this to be fun." He rotated his shoulder before getting into another combat stance.

Aiden grinned "Nice one." he was sarcastic as he rolled back to his feet, "This should be fun." He waited for Will to make the first move this time, getting into a defensive stance and moving slightly to the right. Will had clearly improved since the last time they fought but Aiden was still confident in his abilities. He knew his father would be watching this match. He didn't want to lose.

Will grinned, starting forward and rotating his neck, charging at Aiden with full force. His elbow went hard into Aiden's ribs before Will turned, kicking at his leg and trying to sweep his feet out from under him, already drawing back for a heavy swing on his right side with a small grin. He felt his knuckles crack as he shifted his hand, eyes scanning the room as he brought his fist down towards his opponent, blood pumping loudly in his ears.

Taking a page from Will's book, Aiden allowed his feet to be swept out from under him but anticipated the move, rolling into it and using Will's momentum against him, dodging out of the way of the swing to his right side and grabbing his arm, pulling him down with him and pinning him to the ground. He managed a few punches before Will threw him off. He rolled to his feet, both boys back on their feet, Aiden heard gasps from those around them as he wiped a bead of blood from his lip.

*Sorry for the slight power play. Seeing as it was in Will's favor I figured you wouldn't mind.*

Liberty sat in class, the class discussion talking about research and disease cures. Several diseases had cures now a day, but several were left untreated with undiscovered cures.

"Alright class, your assignment is online, you'll have an e-patient with an unknown disease. Using last weeks knowledge and the stuff you learned today, you must diagnose and see if there's a way to treat it." The professor spoke.

"Easy..." she muttered to herself. She's done it all before, done it by just working in the infirmary on campus.

"Dismissed." The class filled with aspiring nurses, medics, and doctors got up and filed out of the room. "Oh Miss. Stewart, might I have a word please." Liberty looked up at the professor who walked towards her.

"I have a different assignment for you. This is a permanent assignment actually passed down by those higher up than me. There's a student here on campus. She has the only case of an unknown disease in the world. It's completely untreatable. It's been called Ellen's Disease. You've been asked to watch over this student, to care for this student, and if you can you're being tasked with trying to find a cure." It sounded easy enough, the caring for the student part, as for the cure, that would be a challenge, but it may be something that could really put her over the top, make her world famous.

'Achieve what my father didn't get a chance to do...' She thought to herself.

    "Ok, who is she?"

"Ellen Majo. Careful though, she has trusting issues. She hates men, otherwise I would probably be caring for her. You're one of the next best options. She doesn't completely trust women. With your personality, it's key that you treat this carefully." The professor said dropping a file on the desk next to her and started heading towards the door.

"Also, Liberty, if you do not follow through with this student and work with her, you will fail not just class but the academy." Liberty's eyes shot open hearing that. If she failed the academy there were various things that could happen. She could be used as a military dummy which is a suicidal mission, servant to those higher up, or she could become a housewife, which she especially refused. She clenched her hands into a fist and looked down at the file next to her.

Her deep navy blue eyes peered at it deep intensity before flipping it open. Ellen's photo was the first thing she saw.

The photo was of her entry photo. She picked up the photo and held it up looking at it. She was young in the photo. She looked a little happy, but even then, in her one eyes Liberty could see it. The mistrust, the pain, the look of hell within her left eye. She picked up the rest of the file looking at the top form as she headed towards her locker grabbing the stuff out of it and shoving it in her backpack before swinging it over her right right shoulder before proceeding to the elevator, Ellen's file still out in her hand as she read over it.

"Ellen Majo. Age 18. Class Weapons Master/ Specialist." Liberty read aloud as she rode in the elevator before the door opened again stepping out of the main building out on the front concrete lawn area walking to proceed towards the dorm.

"Medical History..." Liberty stopped walking as she flipped over the page. She stood in the middle of the concrete area as her backpack dropped to the ground reading it over. Her eyes intense on what she read.

Ellen's Disease: Chronic illness since birth. Rare condition, untreatable. Symptoms: cough, breathing troubles, extreme fatigue, occasional hot and cold flashes, severe head aches, constant fevers, difficulty digestion of food, blood level deficiencies.
Main symptoms: attack on the body, body shut down. Observations currently: immune system breaking apart. Suspected to follow nervous system and then organs.
Prescription: Prescribed multi vitamins, system balancer.

Blindness in right eye. Result in stabbing by minor. Minor treatment. Released. Eye remains fixated closed with scarring.

Mental illness. Suspected depression and anxiety.

Doctor's note... trusts no one, refuses treatment.

    Life expectancy... 20.

Liberty closed the file that had several other detailed papers about Ellen. She looked up determination in her eyes as she thought about this student.

"Students of Philadelphia Correctional Institute. Tonight at five this afternoon, after your classes are finished, your presence is required at Philadelphia Main Square. Any not at the square will be punished."

Liberty closed her eyes hearing the president's voice come on the intercom. Soon after he finished the phone in her lab pocket also vibrated confirming the text that goes out with every announcement.

She sighed and opened her eyes kneeling down she slid the file of Ellen into the backpack. As she stood back up she looked towards the nurses quick visit office and to her surprise saw Ellen with her bright purple hair leaving the nurses office.

She knew what the right thing was to do, to go introduce herself as her new doctor. But something was pulling back on Liberty, something telling her to rethink it.

It wasn't about rethinking taking Ellen on as her patient, she after all didn't have a choice. It was something more. What was she supposed to do? She felt like she needed to befriend the terminally ill girl, but she was terminal, going to die in under 2 years, yet, she still felt that urge.

The longer she stood her ground, the closer the other girl came towards her. She stood up and straightened her tie pulling the knot tighter.

"Ellen Majo." She spoke the girl's name to get her attention. She mentally slapped herself, it sounded to formal, too professional. But she was her new patient, she had to be professional and formal.

Liberty swallowed hard closing her eyes trying to think about what to say next.

"My name's Liberty Stewart." Liberty spoke extending her hand out to the other girl. 'Smile!' Her mind shouted at her as Liberty put on a smile, one that felt genuine, and... weird to her.

"I just wanted to let you know that I'm a medical student and they've partnered me up with you. I just wanted to say hi, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you." Liberty spoke, her voice soft, much more feminine than she was even typically used to, it was a change from her confident tomboyish self.

"I hope to see you tonight at the square." Liberty said quickly dismissing herself away striding towards her dorm.

Upon entering her dorm she dropped her backpack down to the floor and fell on to her bed, face down in the covers.

"Yourm...am...morom..." She muttered into the covers. She rolled over onto her back looking up at the ceiling. Could she be any more stupid she probably was going to fail. But that wasn't bothering her... what was bothering her she couldn't figure out.

(Not at all minding hope, long as the fight flows a bit better. And I extended that one post, it's not much past three lines, but it's past.)

Will grinned as Aiden came down on him, managing a few blows before he put his feet up and kicked Aiden clean off. He quickly jumped to his feet and saw Aiden was up too, a small smile coming as the crowd gasped from him wiping blood from his lip. He felt their eyes gravitate towards him as he spat a small mouthful of blood to the side before swallowing and preparing to speak. "Everyone enjoying the fight? Is it a nice show, or are we not going hard enough for you all?" He barked, waving a hand to the onlooking class that had surrounded them. He stretched, a small smirk at Aiden as he went towards him once more. Will got close and faked a swing, watching Aiden dip to the side and Will mimicking, going low before kicking off the ground and going upwards, fists meeting Aiden's chin hard.

Aiden reeled back from the punch, again using momentum to his aid he allowed himself to fall back, curling backwards putting his hands on the ground before kicking up with his feet, they cam into contact with Will's jaw as he flipped over backwards to his feet.
Will went backwards, sliding on the hard wood floor for a few feet before coming back to his feet with a smile, teeth stained red as he spat out another mouthful of blood, the wet splatter echoing around the silent gym as he walked forward like an animal appreciating the fight it was having. He cracked his jaw once before charging again, dropping on his back and sliding, taking Aiden's legs out as Will hit him. As Aiden fell, Will grabbed him, slamming him to the floor and climbing on top of him, swinging a multitude of well aimed shots at his jaw.
The hits landed hard before Aiden managed to knee Will in the back of the head. Using the distraction, Aiden grabbed Will and rolled backwards hard, kicking Will off of him totally. He was bleeding as well at this point, he felt a tooth loose in his mouth as he rolled to his feet and charged at Will before either of them had a chance to get steady.
Will felt himself hit hard, and his shoulder popped hollowly as he bounced, the wood feeling more like concrete with each hit. He slowly stood and turned, nursing his arm as his stance stabled just before Aiden hit him, bowling them both over and sending them through the crowd. Will rolled, kicking Aiden away and into the crowd as he hit on his shoulder, howling from pain as he felt his shoulder give him more grief. He gritted his teeth and turned, using the floor to push his shoulder back in with a growl. He slowly stood, turning and readying himself for Aiden, rotating his right shoulder to make sure it had taken no damage.
As the two boys ran to each other again, the teacher blew a loud horn. The entire class, including Aiden and Will, stopped what they were doing and put their hands to their ears. "The match is over!" s/he called out turning their attention to Will "I insist you make sure that arm is not permanently injured. Report to the nurse and the student aid. This match is considered a draw.

Will's eyes went to slits as he glared at the teacher. "I'm fine. If I can walk we're good." He spat, swallowing what blood was in his mouth before looking at Aiden with a grin, patting him on the shoulder as he walked by. "Always fun sparring with you Aiden, always." He said, walking towards the exit of the gym, seeing Angel and the Nurse in his way. "What, are you guys going to stop me and make sure I'm not hurt? I'm not a damn child! I can take care of myself!" He barked, eyes glaring between the nurse and Angel.

The nurse looked as though she was going to argue but Angel spoke first. "Will, Hope would kill me if I let her best friend walk out of here hurt. Don't let Hope hurt me." she was clearly being sarcastic and using dirty tactics of persuasion. She smiled a bit, "Besides, it's my assignment to look at a dislocated shoulder today. You wouldn't want me to fail would you?"

Will gritted his teeth before sitting on the bench, undoing his shirt and sliding his right arm out of the sleeve to reveal his shoulder, a visible red mark where he hit the floor a few times. "Now Angel, I didn't think you would resort to the same tactics your sister and I are known for." He said with a small smile before wincing as he felt her begin to press on his shoulder. "Speaking of which, I haven't heard from Hope in the last few days. How is she?" He asked, the cold tone falling from his voice.

Angel just smiled "I guess I just spend too much time with you two." she teased, examining the arm and testing the damage. "Sorry..." she muttered when he winced. "Hope is okay. She's been a little bit standoffish the past few days but she's healthy so that's good." she pulled a face. "Okay brace yourself..." she warned before she reset his shoulder.
