Ellen listened carefully to Hope's response, and chuckled lightly as she thought about it. "Y'know... It'd be... kind of funny if we fell in love... I mean, the kind of love two parents generally have, or two childhood friends finally confessing to each other... I've seen it before, but I've never experienced it. But the 'Queen of Despair' Ellen Majo and Hope together... we'd be the definition of both irony and opposites attract. I used to dream about that kind of thing... finding someone who could honestly love me... but eventually, after I lost my eye, it all turned to hell. The nightmares started, and they've yet to cease. I can't sleep alone or my past haunts me. Eventually, they get so bad that I hurt myself like they're doing in my nightmares. The boy who stabbed my eye out used a knife to do so... and as I envisioned him stabbing me, I cut myself until I collapsed..."

Ellen shook her head and sighed, "Hope. I think... that I can safely say that I'm falling in love with you... and I think... I think Liberty might be in love with someone too. It might explain why she's been acting differently lately... But... Hope... I don't want to love someone if they don't, won't, or can't love me back. I can't take another blow to my heart like that. It'll send me to my grave even faster. I don't want to pressure you either, but I do want you to know why I refuse treatment... See I've refused treatment because I've got nothing, no person, no future. I have nothing to live for, so why attempt to prolong my life? Let this not affect your decision to love me back... please. I'll be telling Liberty why I refuse treatment soon too. I... I'll give you time to think it over. I promised Liberty I'd be back soon, and I need to apologize to her for a cruel note I wrote that I shouldn't have..."

As she turned to leave, she stopped and laughed lightly, "Don't worry about saying no to me if you want Will... I see how he looks at you, it's the same as any boy I've ever seen who's in love. I won't feel offended... I promise... But... at least think about it, okay?" With that Ellen left the Gym in a hurry, but the chilling halls were empty and quiet. She made her way towards her and Liberty's shared room, but she couldn't fight off the visions of her past as she walked the corridors alone...

"She's sick... twisted. I despise her. She is not our daughter and we will not accept her. She's caused us enough trouble as is honey, and it's time we put her out of her misery. I've sent her... I've sent her off to her death, just as we planned... She should be arriving at the destination within a few minutes..."

The young Ellen walked along the sidewalk, it was late, but her father had asked her to go to 24 hour store to pick up some bread and milk, and he promised to play with her as a reward. She was excited, but she was also smart enough to carry the handgun she had been practicing lately. It was a good thing she did, because a man soon appeared from the shadows and shoved her to the ground.

Ellen nearly tripped over herself as she hurried around the final corner, the room was right down the hall, but her hand moved towards the cloth covered item in her pocket instinctively as she moved.

"Look here girl, just come quietly and I'll make sure your death is quick and painle-"

    *Bang*

"Arrgh! You bitch!" Ellen held the gun up to the man, having shot him in the leg. She reached to pull the trigger again, but just as she did... he did as well... The man went down but...

Ellen's head collided with the wooden door as she crashed to the ground, blood seaping from the side of her chest as smoke rose from a bright silver pistol that still clenched loosely in her hand.

Liberty found herself laying in bed in her pj's when she heard a gun fire in close proximity. That wasn't anything unusual , it happens almost all the time, however when that gun was fire her heart pounded in a panic mode. She got up her legs moving her on her own. She opened the door to see Ellen start falling into the room. Her eyes widened as she quickly caught the fragile girl. A bullet was fired into her chest. She could see where and she knew exactly what all she had to do. Moving quickly she brought Ellen inside and laid her up on the treatment bed in the medical center built within their own room.

She moved fast to get pressure on the wound with the closest piece of cloth she could find, her shirt. Pulling it off she held it against the wound as she grabbed her equipment next.

The procedure was easy, she could do it in her sleep, but her heart still beat hard.

"Stay with me, Ellen, please stay with me..." She muttered, tears falling down her face as she worked tossing the shirt to the side as she got to work. The one thing that troubled her was she wish they had given her more equipment for surgery work, but she made do. Ellen already appeared to be slipping out of consciousness.

She pulled out the bullet, and closed the wound up and proceeded to close the wound.

The work was done. She double checked everything, her heart was fine and breathing was fine. The bullet didn't penetrate any major organs or arteries thankfully, it was a cheap shot that whoever did thankfully didn't deliver a blow of death. She fell back in a chair covered in Ellen's blood before glancing at the door silver glistened and on closer evaluation realized that was Ellen's own gun.

"Ellen..." Liberty muttered tears making their way to the edge of her eyes again. She picked up the pistol turning it over in her hand before taking it over to the closet where she hid the knife from Ellen, the same knife that she used previously that same day to cut herself. She looked down at herself and the slight mess laid out in front of her. Sighing she got to work cleaning up.

She stood at the sink with the sink's hose to clean up the space pushing water towards a drain in the tile floor. She sighed. She needed to change clothes and clean herself up. She first looked at the bandage on her arm coated in Ellen blood and probably a bit of her blood earlier coming up through the bandage.

She sat down in the chair unwrapping her arm to change the bandage out. The deep cut from the knife still present, though no longer bleeding thanks to a bit of the coating of ointment that she applied. She remained sitting there unaware that at any moment Ellen could be waking up.

Tom was wandering around the campus ever since he finished his exams. He didn't have anything to do after them due to the science labs being closed down for the rest of the day. He knew he should probably just laze about in his room, but then again he could actually go out and be social to people.

And so that is what his intentions were as he wandered about, looking for a specific person. And eventually he found who he was looking for. Walking into the gymnasium, he saw Hope leaning up against some equipment. "Hey wifey." He spoke as he saw her and walked towards her. He was about to ask her something when he saw the look on her face. So he then quickly changed his question, not wanting to add one more thing for her to think about. "You look like you have something on your mind. Did something happen?"

Hope took a moment to think about what Ellen had said as she walked from the Gym. So.... Ellen think's she's in actual love with me... she pulled a pair of fingerless gloves from her pack and placed them on her hands before taking a step toward a punching bag among three lining the far corner from the door. It had been a while since the last time she had convinced Will to teach her how to defend herself. But she still tried to train on her own as often as she could. As a girl in the most basic of classes, this kind of activity was considered unnecessary but not really against the rules.
And Ellen thinks that Will is too... she thought as she began a round. What even is Love and how would she know. For that matter how would I know. she stopped for a moment, allowing herself to stretch now that she'd warmed up. Come to think of it... how did SHE feel about all of this.
Sure Will was a great friend, and she could admit he was good looking. She trusted him more than anyone besides Angel. But did that really mean "love"
She sighed, turning her attention back to the punching bag. Then there was the issue of Ellen feeling like she had no reason to live if she had no one to love and be loved in return...
She heard the door open and stopped to look, Seeing Tom not far off. She smiled a bit, there was a friendly face she hadn't seen in a while. She removed the gloves, leaning against the wall as she waited for Tom to come to her, which didn't take long.

" "Hey wifey." He spoke as he saw her and walked towards her. He was about to ask her something when he saw the look on her face. So he then quickly changed his question, not wanting to add one more thing for her to think about. "You look like you have something on your mind. Did something happen?""

"Hey Tom." she said, allowing a tired smile. "Oh it's nothing. Just thinking about that girl who attempted suicide not long ago." she explained "Wondering if she's okay. How are you doing?"

Will looked at Jordan with a smirk. "Listen my friend, if you'd like to continue this conversation the gym is the best bet, because I need to work out and spar a bit. Have to keep in peak shape for the gauntlet they're going to be setting up soon." He said, speaking of how the SOLDIER classes set up an arena type of event for everyone to watch the students fighting, sometimes to the point where there would be real injuries. "I'll keep in touch man, you do the same, all right?" He said, patting Jordan on the shoulder before he strode off, heading towards the gym. As he went down the hall he heard whispers of something going on but he shook his head, ignoring it as he opened the large doors, the familiar smell of sweat and blood flooding his nostrils. He shrugged off the coat before stretching, heading over to a punching bag as be pulled some hand wraps from his pocket, wrapping his knuckles before starting to beat on the bag, resounding thuds echoing over the crowd.

The impact felt good as the wraps tightened from the blows, feeling the cloth gritting against his hands a bit as he spun, his boots clicking on the floor as he changed stances, his fingers unfurling as he began to strike with an open palm. He slowly noticed his joints and muscles loosening as he continued to warm up, rotating his stance once more to be a more head on approach as he twirled, his leg lifting quickly to strike the bag. His smile widened as he felt a small trickle of sweat down the back of his neck as he dove to the side, deciding to roll around the bag, imagining it was an actual target. He felt his instincts kick in as he lifted with his hands, pushing his whole body up and using his feet as a focal point. He felt himself his the bag hard and saw it lift from the frame, the solid slap of padded leather filled with sand. He chuckled at the small puff of sand that came out as he stood, brushing his knuckles against the fatigues he wore upon his lower half.

"Oh, you know. Same ol' stuff." He replied as Will entered the gym, seemingly oblivious to Hope and himself. The mention of Ellen attempting suicide was news to Tom though. Of course since he did have a tendency to block out the world, the fact he was unaware of the suicide attempt wasn't all that surprising. "Well, to be totally honest I was actually looking for you. There was something I wanted to ask you about that has been on my mind lately. Though if you're thinking about that girl who tried kill herself a bit ago I feel like what I came for is completely miniscule and rather selfish." He wasn't lying when he said that. But at the same time, Will's presence wasn't helping anything. Tom wasn't a big fan of speaking about certain things when people who weren't his intended audience were around.

He sighed, not sure if Will was even listening to their conversation. "Well... I have the largest crush in the world on your sister, to which I'm certain anybody and everybody can see it. But considering the type of person I am I have absolutely no idea what to do." As he spoke, Tom's face started to turn a light red, which soon faded after he finished his sentence.

Considering her suspicions about Angel and Tom for the longest time, and the conversation she'd just had, Hope couldn't help it. She smiled, legitimately this time. "Guess I should have figured hat one out sooner..." She noticed Will walk in and waved, but kept her voice down seeing as she guessed Tom would want to keep the current conversation private.
"Have you tried talking to her? I mean... You two have been in the same room before but mostly you two just say hi."

Will wiped his mouth over the back of his knuckles as a small smirk came to his mouth. He heard them talking, he had even seen Hope wave. He was just too engrossed in his own thoughts to care. The most he had heard was Tom mention Angel. He rolled his shoulders and stretched before lifting the bag, setting the chain back into the hook with a loud clank. He then began walking in a small circle, using one arm to pull the other, stretching his back, shoulders, and joints. He groaned as he felt his right shoulder cause a small bit of discomfort, but he shook it off as he turned, facing the bag once more with an even more heated determination than last time.

"I've tried... I suppose... Maybe... Umm... Somewhat?" He replied to Hope. "I mean, we did speak a little to each other the other day, back when that happened Admittedly not the best occasion to talk to somebody." It wasn't Tom's intention to bring up the recent torture. Not that it stopped him. "How would I put it? I suppose any sort of time I may even get a chance to speak with her I get really self-conscious and end up interfering with myself, if that makes any sense. Like I get really nervous and feel like I'm doing something embarrassing."

Thinking upon what he was saying to Hope, he almost felt embarrassed for saying what he had said. He sighed and hung his head down. "Good God I sound like I'm back in middle school. I'm not really meant for human interactions, am I? I suppose I'm better off alone in some room mixing chemicals, aren't I?"

Though the mention of the recent spectacle from the government did sting Hope a bit, she decided to suppress the memory for the time being. She instead used Tom's dilemma to distract her from it. Thinking back about Angel, she realized that her sister had always been shy, but even more so around Tom. Surprised she hadn't caught it sooner, Angel was just always so quiet. Sure, she would talk like normal around Hope but they still didn't talk much about boys. There were always other things to talk about that were more pressing.
Her smile returned as she removed her gloves, "Let's walk..." more people were entering the Gym and it would start to get loud. As they exited the gym and walked through the emptying hallways Hope spoke again, "Something tells me Angel might have a crush on you too." she commented. She was walking back toward the dorm area mostly because stopping and whispering in the hallways would put them in danger with the schools security. "It might not help but if that's the case, she wants to talk to you just as badly. And it won't matter to her how awkward you are."

Will finished his assault on the bag as Tom and Hope walked out. He stretched a bit as he smiled, knowing exactly what they were talking about. He had seen the way Tom and Angel looked at each other, the passing glances and knowing looks. They were just too nervous to talk to each other more than a small conversation. His smile widened as he began to unwrap his hands, stretching his fingers as he felt more blood flooding into his joints, rotating his wrists and feeling them loosen up. He pulled out his phone, flipping through his contacts before finding the one he was looking for. He quickly typed up a message and checked it, eyes scanning the screen to make sure it was right. 'Hey Angel, it's Will. I was going to head to the cafeteria and grab a bite. Want to grab lunch?' He clicked the send button before sliding it back into his pocket. He grabbed his jacket and slid it back on, straightening the lapels before beginning to walk towards the door, hoping she would answer him soon.

In the alley, Angel was finishing up helping a sniffling freshman with lash wounds on his back when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. "Now be sure to wear clothing that will hide the bandages and come back so I can change them in a day or so if you can. I'm going to give you some medicine for the pain and also an antibiotic." She handed the boy a small bag of pills she portioned out, "This one is the antibiotic. Take it twice a day with food." she then handed him a second bag, "This one is the pain pills. I only gave you a few so use them sparingly and continue to show favor to your injuries so the faculty doesn't get suspicious." she explained.
The boy nodded, thanking her quietly before leaving to go back to his dorm. Deciding she would wait around for a few minutes to see if any other injured students would need her help, she leaned back against a wall and pulled out her phone.
Hey Angel, it's Will. I was going to head to the cafeteria and grab a bite. Want to grab lunch?'
'Will wants to see me? Odd, normally he's texting Hope not me....' she shrugged and responded "Hey will. :) I'm assuming you mean dinner, it's a little after 10 after all. But sure, I'll meet you there.

Will felt his phone buzz on the inside of his coat and he smirked, reaching into his coat and withdrawing the device, his eyes glancing at the clock on the front. The numbers showed 10:12 and it made him laugh. "Shit... I asked her if she wanted to meet for lunch. Just shows how much my schedule's fucked." He laughed, tapping on the screen as it opened his messages, seeing hers placed neatly among the few he actually did send. Hey will. I'm assuming you mean dinner, it's a little after 10 after all. But sure, I'll meet you there." He read the text and smirked, her words confirming his mistake. He began typing as he slowly plodded his way down the stairs, eyes more focused on his phone than his path. He finished his message as he made it to the landing, tapping the send key as he pushed the door open. "Sorry, you know how I get when exams and the arenas start getting close. I get a bit of insomnia. Oh, and I need to ask you something when you get here." He made sure the text sent before he slid his phone back into his coat, eyes scanning the cafeteria for a table.

Angel began packing up her medical supplies, noticing that she was starting to run low again. I wonder if I can get some more from the nurse soon... she thought, giving the pack a small shake before placing it in it's hiding place under the loose stone in the walkway. As she walked casually, but quietly from her hiding place, her phone vibrated again.

Sorry, you know how I get when exams and the arenas start getting close. I get a bit of insomnia. Oh, and I need to ask you something when you get here

Angel nodded, even though she knew he couldn't see her. "Fascinating." she responded, I wonder what this is all about... she started on her way toward the cafeteria.

"That's nice to hear. That you think she may like me as well." He replied to Hope. "Though I should probably sound a bit more enthusiastic about it." He chuckled a little at that comment. "And you sure being super awkward won't matter? I mean, even if we had the chance to talk I'm not sure what I would say. I'd probably just end up tripping over my words and then being quiet the rest of the time. Like I said, I'm not really good at these kinds of things."

Talking about these things were difficult for Tom. Like he mentioned, these things weren't his strong suit. And naturally he would think about it too much and then start to worry about it a lot.

Will slowly entered the cafeteria, eyes scanning everything, noticing that not much was left since it was so late in the evening. He walked forward, looking over the three floors that the cafeteria was made up of. There was the main area he stood on that held the food preparation area, the utensil dispensers, and the exits. To his right was a raised platform, similar to a stage that held multiple tables. To his left was more tables in a lower level, solely to make the area seem bigger. He moved to his left, withdrawing his phone from the inside of his coat as he reached the silverware bar. He smirked slightly as he read the message. "Oh trust me dear, more fascinating than you know." He said to himself, not bothering to respond.

He slid the phone back into his coat before grabbing himself a set of utensils and napkins. He rolled the bundle together as he approached the entree bar, seeing that little was left besides some sandwiches and a few bowls of chili. As he glanced over the food his stomach protested loudly, the grumbling unusually painful to his system. "Oh shit, I forgot I haven't eaten today..." He huffed, grabbing a tray and quickly gathering his food. After he collected two sandwiches, a bottle of water and a large bowl of chili he headed towards the raised platform, deciding that this smaller partition was quieter than the lower one, therefore making it perfect for conversation.

As he quickly made his way up he noticed that there were more people here than usual. "I guess I'm not the only one who does midnight runs to the cafeteria." He said, setting his food down and pulling his coat off. He laid the coat over the chair before sitting, eyes facing towards the door that lead from the medical wing, knowing full well Angel was most likely coming from there. He quietly lifted a sandwich and began eating, mind getting lost in thought as he waited for his company to arrive.

Pain. That was all she had felt. Though she thought she'd heard Liberty's voice as she drifted in and out of consciousness. She managed to bear witness to a few happenings around the room, even in her semi-conscious state however, including Liberty finding and putting away the silver gun Ellen had brought with her. What followed however, had Ellen very confused. A deep cut scarred Liberty's arm, and she had a good idea about where it came from. Now was not the time to pass out, and with all the willpower she could muster, she forced her eyes open and spoke loud enough for the other girl to hear...

    "Liberty... why...?"
